Great video. I’ve often thought about the nt5’s. I’m constantly looking at upping my audio game and this has helps. Best of luck with your channel here 👍
Excellent setup for a comparison. You really get an idea of the sound quality of both mics.
This is a great video! I just started using my NT5s indoors after buying them for XY atmos recording, really liking the small profile!
Great video & your explanation. Thanks a lot 😊🙏🏻
Thank you for this. Trying to decide between the 2 for indoor and I think the NT5 is the right choice. Great comparison and super helpful!
Thanks for the video, very well put together. Soon you'll have WAY more subscribers!
That’s awesome dude!
Very helpful video.
Cool video. I just wanted to shout out since you said you're from SW MO. I'm originally from Springfield so wanted to say hey! Great video!
Nice video! I've been using the nt5 for interior dialogue as well. You forgot to mention it's great at reducing reflections in interiors vs longer shotguns.
Incredible for indoor dialogue!
Super dope review music was just a little to loud
Awesome video and speech
thank you!
Great video! Subscribed
Thanks for your review. How does it behave in spaces with high reverberation?
It's pretty decent in those types of areas. There's potential for the reverb to sound more natural if that's what you're looking for.
Thanks 🎉, I use the nt5 with interface itrack focusrite and garageband. but if i use it with my smartphone and the interface somehow i can not record stereo. du u know why?
That I don't know, unfortunately. Sorry
can I just use one NT5 instead of pair
I'm looking for a mic to buy real fast for around 100-300 for an interview I need to record in a day or so
This mic isn't a bad option depending on your situation. You can also go with the NTG1 if you require a more directional pickup pattern.
How is it in an echoey room?
Since it's only cardioid pattern, it won't reject much reflections. I do switch to a more directional mic when in rooms like a gym to reduce the reflections. I personally haven't tested it side by side in that capacity but overall, it sounds decent and usable.
1. Is suitable for boom 4-5 feet away from actor?
2. Nt5 or short shotgun which will be only one go to mic with zoom f3 both indoor and outdoor?
3. Nt5 or short shotgun in empty room withe bare wall no sound treatment?
Unfortunately, it'll depend on the situation. Having a cardioid does help with reflections indoors if that's important to you, but I've used it for exteriors too when I don't want to bring a giant blimp with me. I've also used short shotgun mics for interiors and at times, that helps more than having a cardioid pick-up pattern because I was forced to boom a little further than I liked. But that doesn't mean the cardioid mic didn't perform well.
If forced to be 4-5 feet away, a tighter pick-up pattern mic will probably be better suited for the situation. I usually use my NTG3 in arenas and basketball courts because of all the potential shadows the house lights create.
Like mentioned in the video, I mainly got this mic for really tight situations indoors and that allowed me to get closer to the subject.
@@KongThaoSound Problem of Light shadows is what I was not thinking before 👍 I have moved towards shotgun.
Shotgun is usable in small or empty concrete wall rooms if placement space is not an issue?
S-mic 2 or MKE 600?
@@film2375 A shotgun mic is perfectly suitable for interiors. Most of us sound mixers start with only one shotgun mic. Sometimes you just have to use the tools you have and can still create great results.
Thanks so much for sharing! I think the NT5 are purely OMNI capsules. So I picked up the NT55 for diversity...
