Missing lunch is NOT because of work ethic. It is usually because we are overworked and always have deadlines to meet. We skip lunch because we feel pressure to meet those deadlines.
Doesn't matter if you're sick or child you are expected to get the work done.
Yep cuz sometimes if you don't get your work done or you don't meet your guidelines you can lose your job.
Or you work at a place that has already had a round of layoffs, or cutbacks and there are now 4 people doing the work of 8. Do you want to be the least productive member of the team? Or do you want an hour lunch?
Because after the 2008 everyone started having to do more work with less people. Then when the economy got better, employers just figured that was normal and didn't fully replace the same staff/worker ratio. There are a couple of people in my company who skip/shorten lunches, but I figure that's their problem and I add more value than those people and just take a full hour which management has no problem with. If they did I would leave the company.
What they mean is in the uk we care about work but not as much as you because we would always take a lunch break because too bad bosses are forced to give u a lunch break by the law x
A lot of Americans only get 30 minutes for lunch so there’s no time to leave the work place. Some would thus rather eat at their desk.
Isn't it Amazon workers who aren't even given a restroom break so they pee in a bottle ?
And the productivity expectations don't help
I worked supervising road and bridge construction. Frequently any decent restaurants were too far away to go to and return in a half hour or an hour.Since I retired I have lost 50 pounds.
Facts. That's me. 30 mins in the break room. Can't leave the property.
I only get 30 minutes for lunch so I nearly exclusively eat at my desk with a meal from home.
It's not because we love our jobs....its because we either have deadlines or quotas to meet - or get reprimanded, written up or fired...OR...because we have have soooooo much to do that we have to skip our breaks/lunch in order to get it all done.
LessFluffy18 I love my job .. and a lot of the people I work with all love their job
@@dayra6425 I am happy for you and others that do love their job. That's not the case for everyone though.
Yeah man, there's been more than a few times that I've worked till eleven P.M. starting at eight A.M. in a cabinet shop cause the boss was crying about needing the job done. Unfortunately, from what I've seen in many fields of work, like mine, the boss slacks, and the employees have to pick up his or her mess.
Lol, sorry for the salt. But yeah, I think a large part of it is pressure from the 'superiors'.
America has "employment at will" which means employers can fire an employee at any time for almost any reason, without any kind of liability. Therefore America has developed a "workaholic" culture which means people are obsessed with their jobs out of fear of being fired for being like 1% less productive than their co-workers.
I hate my job but the idea of being homeless is worse
We didn't invent cholesterol, we just made it taste good.

Curious how we simultaneously work so hard that we work crazy hours and eat lunch at our desks AND watch tv all day. That's interesting lol
It’s not all the same people doing these things, thus, the “on average” mention
Y’all have no idea what “Netflix & Chill” means. 🤣
Most of us turn the tv on as back ground noise. At least I do
Paula P Yes! I can’t have it too quiet, it freaks me out. I also can’t have stuff too loud so I’m picky lol
Shana Lawson I am the same way
Same. Always have a tv going.
I have NFL football on now. I don't even like footbal,l but the crowd noise is wonderful as background noise.
ive never done that but maybe I should
As for Americans that "love their jobs so much", our employers put a lot of pressure on us to get everything and even more done since they don't want to hire another person to do the excess work. They prefer to make their existing employees do the work of two people. That's why we work crazy hours, skip lunch sometimes, stay way too late, work overtime, and are stressed out to the max.
We work so many hours then we drive through fast food on our way home, because we're too tired to cook!😂
Melanie Prince ... or it too damn hot... I hate to complain about Summer heat but it cuts into my roasting... I need to build an put door kitchen...
I eat about way too much in the Summer months...
Truth.
Hallelujah sister!
We work crazy hours while watching tv all day yet have time to invent a bunch of things
True dat!!🤣🤣
Wait. So we work crazy hours and are obsessed with our jobs and working hard....AND we watch TV all day?!
I call that talent 😂
Definitely multitask
The whole "loving our job" thing is a huge stereotype because the majority of us hate it and we "love" it because we dont want to be fired
I don't binge watch tv. I binge watch UA-cam.
Yes, hardly anyone binge-watches regular TV. We binge-watch Netflix because we want to get our money's worth, and Netflix might remove the series next month. Personally, I dropped Netflix, set up Plex, and now I watch my dvd library at my own pace; so Netflix is to blame.
@@VernCrisler I dumped netflix and have hulu live and amazon prime video.
I don't binge Netflix. Netflix binges me.
Regarding Number 2: It's a little rude, but I think it's because most people prefer not to use the public restroom for modesty reasons. If we eat at lunch, we'll have to use the facility by 5:00.
@@pete5668 Yep, I tried Amazon but they wanted money for a lot of their stuff. How capitalist of them. So instead I'm just buying my own stuff again, and can watch it any time.
Black Friday is a habit I would happily shed. I stay home
I went once, never again!
I work retail it's not just black Friday it's now Thanksgiving. You start at five pm so no enjoying time with family and friends. Gulp down food that you may have had to get up early to make. Knowing there is nothing that is so important that people need that they couldn't get the next day! Also if you are ordering on line for a store pick up that means ten or more people did not even get a day off because they have to pick those items and get them ready for a store pick up. And that's each and every store in a chain!
Me too! I don't go out on black Friday
I refuse to go out on black Friday.
I just shop cyber Monday
To get the full effect of Black Friday, you have to have Thanksgiving, a holiday where you give thanks for what you have, then at 6 PM, you "queue up" (I LOVE that phrase) to buy tons more stuff to get an early jump on buying tons more stuff.
I must be a bad American. I eat fast food 3 to 4 times a year and I HATE Black Friday. 😂
You are such a good person
We (Americans) sit at our desk eating fast foot working over-time hours while watching TV and commenting on Joel & Lia videos on UA-cam. lol
Shhhhh don't tell my boss I'm binge watching J&L all day. 😉
LoL!!! Sadly too true!!! LoL
Very accurate!
Taboo Petree exactly so why don’t they mention our sweet multitasking skills
How dare you. I never watch TV all day... I watch it all night😂
Ur rite!
"we used to rule the world then people wanted their independence or whatever" Lmaooo #LoveYouGuys
We can't work insane hours and binge watch TV at the same time. Something's amiss.
Working thru lunch...for the majority of the people I know, it’s not something they want to do. If you don’t have the man power to shut down for lunch then you get stuck working 10 plus hours with no lunch and feel lucky to get a break to use the restroom.
We pronounce data the same way.
I work in a hospital. You can't just leave your patients to go eat. It's inhumane. Many of us work double shifts. On the plus side of that, sometimes at night you can watch tv when it's quiet but it's not relaxing. because you have to be ready to run in an emergency. Occasionally we order a pizza but that's tiny bites on the run. And, yeah, the bathroom issue lol
How can Americans binge watch tv all day when they have crazy work hours? 🤔😂
Good observation.
Some of us have TVs in kitchens, bathrooms, etc.. it's always there...
Those are the ones that are on our Medicaid system. Or those of us that might stay up late or on weekends and watch a whole day's worth of movies
I do both, simultaneously. LMAO. seriously, at my desk, I work, eat and watch shows. Only when working from home though. In the office I wear headphones and listen to music.
Watch at work.
Why a Brit didn’t invent social media, it’s a way to talk with strangers you guys hate doing that.
AHHHH, Lia was talking about how Netflix plays the next episode in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and THEN THERE WAS AN AD on the video. I'm dyingggg
Well, it's the UK's fault that I binge watched Poldark, The Paradise, Downton Abbey, Dr. Who, Sherlock, etc. Lol!!
Love y'all!
Absolutely wonderful entertainment.
Downton Abbey film in 15 days! Been counting down for months. :-)
The greatest cultural contribution made in the history of the world is Monty Python's Flying Circus. I love Graham Norton and Ricky Gervais. In fact, most of the comedy I really like is British. Tim Minchin, James Cordon, Jimmy Carr, Eddie Izzard, etc. In America, we get geniuses like the puppet guy, and 3-4 really wealthy guys pretending to be blue collar comedians.
Mrs. Brown's Boys ❤
Poldark ❤
Shannon E We call it "Poldark and handsome"! Such a great show!
Like you said. It isn't America's fault if the Brits choose to do the same things.
If they said it what’s the point in commenting
The phrase “Netflix and chill” means the opposite of watching the next episode.
Haha
How do you determine what day “Black Friday” is if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving? 🤔
Good point!
Also, I wonder if they realize what "Black Friday" actually means. And if it serves the same purpose in the UK as it does in America?
Here in Canada, we just copy the US. Our Thanksgiving is in early October.
@@1madeintheimage there’s two Black Fridays, in the U.K. we have shopping one day after USA thanksgiving day. Then we have another one Black Friday on last Friday before Christmas which is the drinking one.
I’ve never heard of Black Friday here in the UK.
what about fish and chip shops in the UK or shops with meat pies and sausage rolls? they are not chains like McDonald' s, but the food is not that healthy.
peaceful inspirations fast food doesn’t have to be unhealthy...
Make right choices and it can be really healthy.
Or deep fried mars bars!
Did you forget that Scotland was part of the UK? LOL I love the Scots but let's be real, how much of a traditional Scottish diet is that much better than a fast food diet?
How do you have Black Friday if you don't have Thanksgiving? It just seems wrong. It's like having Boxing Day without Christmas.
That's true. How do they even know when it's Black Friday when they don't have Thanksgiving. I think this year we should keep our date for Thanksgiving a secret from the UK so they wont' know when Black Friday starts...since we're such a bad influence and all. They'll be doing their Black Friday shopping after Christmas.
They just follow the US Thanksgiving holiday (at least the retailers do and then just advertise the dates that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are). I think there were proposals to just make it the last Friday of November regardless of US Thanksgiving (which could make it a week after US Black Friday some years), but was decided by retailers to be the same day as the US.
The spread of Black Friday sales across the world accelerated with the growth of online shopping. Online retailers are competing all over the world, not just in the US, so merchants in the UK, or on the European continent, or NZ, or Australia, or wherever, felt the pinch as local shoppers began going on line to take advantage of all those crazy American sale prices.
I asked that,, too (I'm in Canada) "why are we doing Black Friday when our Thanksgiving is October?" but my brother , who has managed and district managed and run retail outlets for ages explained. Black Friday has nothing to do with Thanksgiving anywhere else. They just saw a good thing happening down there and figured it's a good way to make money. But also, he said that by the end of November, it's safe to celebrate that your year is in the black.
Black Friday wasn't even a thing 20 years ago.
There’s so much pressure in the workplace in the states like your boss is stressed you’re stressed and so
Is everyone else. The whole office runs off of “let’s stay late to not get in trouble”.
When I visited my brother in London, I was shocked to find a chicken and waffles chain! I think it was called Bird. I was suspicious of British soul food, but it was excellent.
According to the stats I found. Population in America is at approximately 329,431,072.
If 50,000,000 people are eating fast food everyday, that’s around 15.1%. Not too bad.
That seems pretty bad because it’s everyday. I know so much people that eat out everyday. 💀
John Sam I agree, everyday is bad, but when you look at the entire country 15% is really not that bad. That’s only 1 out of 7 people. 50% would be really bad.
@@johnsam1965 Never said it was the same 50 million eating it every day.
@@etonbachs4226 not to mention it says 50 million served that's all hours of the day until closing so what if one person goes to 3 fast food places? That's a little over 16 million people which is closer to 7 percent or so of the population

I have friends from the UK, that came to America and opened a business in Philadelphia. They told me, they cannot believe that even when Americans were sick they would come to work, and they had vacation time they would never take it in fear of losing their job! I get it! I hardly ever call out when I’m sick, I will just get through it. And the guilt is so bad when I take a vacation, I can’t enjoy it, I might as well be at work! Not sure where that comes from, but our work ethic is crazy, and we are very dedicated to our employers. I know it’s not good, but it’s installed in our psyche!😱

My Parents were born and raised in the Deep South. They were raised to be quite polite and respectful. Because of my Parents' influence, I have a hard time with rudeness......Sadly, too many Americans have a poor sense of proper decorum. I appreciate hearing about (I have not traveled far myself) other Countries and Cultures that value good manners. I BEG YOU, PLEASE DO NOT MIMIC US!
Amy Moseley Smith hello😁 your comment speaks to my soul. I was born and raised in Louisiana but have been living in NJ for the past 10 yrs and people here aren't just rude but mean, for no reason. So sad.
Amy Moseley Smith - I am sure that you are polite and respectful, and some might even call it Southern charm. In no way do I intend to contradict your personal statement.
I was born and raised in NYState, about 50 miles out of NY City, the supposed epicenter of rudeness in this world. I've also traveled the USA quite extensively, in particular, the south, which I am quite fond of.
You'd probably be surprised how kind and helpful NYs can be, in general. They might not be as polite and respectful as you are used to, but they will almost at least be kind and helpful.
If you were to come to a stop, on the busiest sidewalk of Manhattan and just say, can somebody help me? 'I don't know where I am, or how to get to where I want to go', it won't take long for someone to help you. Believe me, I've been there many times.
I've been in the same situation down south, with the same results. Are the people more polite, in general, down south, yes, they are. Can they be as rude tho, yes, no doubt, but in a backhanded way, meaning not as directly so.
I tend to address people as I've been introduced to them as, until they ask me to do otherwise. So, I've noticed that down south, young women, children of friends of mine, are introduced as 'Miss Lizzie', or whatever, so I would call them that, which is odd for a northener to do.
Up north, just to be polite, I would call a woman under 30 'Miss' and a woman over '30', M'am, as to do otherwise, might be considered an insult. Of course, there is that uncomfortable age at which you are not sure of where they lie, so you stand a good chance of messing up and offending someone. Usually, handled gracefully, and from then on out, I'd refer to them as they wish.
Up north, I might call someone Miss Beauregard, but never 'Miss Lizzie', unless asked to do so, which essentially, never happens.
My question is, why is it that down south, support staff, of the feminine gender, meaning mostly waitress' or maids, are referred to as 'Miss - So and so', even when they are clearly over the age of 30? Is it a sign of respect or disrespect?
As a northener, it's seems disrespectful, as if they are no more than a child. Do you have any insight into that?
Back to my basic point, I have been put in my place by a few 'servants', in that I didn't know how things were properly done, all in a very kind and polite manner, but reading between the lines, it was quite rude. Not to say it wasn't deserved on my part, as I didn't know any better, but southern hospitality can be quite rude as well.
ps - this is not a racial thing at all. Black, white or Hispanic, it happens equally. For clarity, if it means anything, I am white, and bit of Chactau. Point being, race is not an issue here at all.
@@shaunea.8930 - well, of course people from New Jersey are more rude than NYers and I've noticed it too. What would you expect, as they seem to have an inferiority complex, as NJ on the whole, is nowhere near what NYState is, other than by vacinity.
I actually like New Jersey and have many friends there, but in particular, the closer you are to Manhattan, on the other side of the Hudson River, the more arrogant they are, particularly if you car is wearing NY license plates.
The cops will do their best to violate you Constitutional rights, but it doesn't often get them more than a proper lawsuit, as everyone and his cousin in NY, has a lawyer in the family, and will see you to hell in court, just for the fun of it.
It's part of the joy.
I love your travel videos but I'm so glad to see you guys just sitting in front of the camera, with original content!
More grandparents in the US are raising their grandchildren than ever in history. Our fault!

I don’t do Black Friday, I prefer to be at home with my family and sleep at a decent time.
The insane hours and (in my case) utter lack of lunch are absolutely the fault of employers ruthlessly driving productivity. It increased from the 1990s onward and is now out of control. One is responsible for an obscene amount of work, and keeping your job depends upon it. And no, I don't enjoy that.
The United States population is 325 million
People do work through lunch but by law you’re supposed to have a lunch break. I don’t always leave my actual desk for lunch but I always take my hour lunch break and sometimes just scroll my phone or look at things on my computer while eating.
Technically, and this may be different by state, you MUST have a lunch break after 6 hours. but those laws might be out of date by 15 years. Companies used to be fined as much as $1000/per incidence/per day/per worker, if an employee went over 6 hours without a lunch break. Those who fined the companies was the department of labor, and I believe that's a state level fine.
This is only true for non-exept hourly employees. For exempt employees, break and overtime rules don't apply. I make sure my hourly staff never work more than 5 hours without a break.

I think places that use time cards require that employees clock out for lunch. But working in an office is different. People who work in offices usually work in downtowns, where it is not convenient to grab lunch.
Salaried professionals don't abide by those kind of rules.....
Best part was “when was the last time a Brit invented something good” 🤣🤣🤣
I believe America started those trends.
I really don’t like my break, I’m a preschool teacher and I just think about all the things I need to get done. It’s easier to do it on my break so I can leave on time to go home and enjoy my time at home without worrying about stuff I didn’t get done. I also want to provide the best care to my class. There just isn’t enough time in the day sometimes.
I wonder how the study defined watching tv. The tv being on or actually paying attention to the show? I can believe Americans watch tv all day if it’s defined as being on. I have a show on for background noise when I did homework, when I do work, and I fall asleep to it.
Where do they get this crap?
I have to tell you, I do not usually get into these typ of channels but you two are just so cute! It seems you two have a genuinely good relationship and it is a treat to see. So God Bless you both!!💜
American here. One job that I held for a number of years was so hypocritical about hours. Some times of the year, we’d work nearly 80 hours per week, barely having enough time for sleeping and eating and showering before going back to work. Then other times of the year, we’d be penalized for eating lunch at our desks because of all the work that was piled on us.
I’m so glad you are back to these types of videos. I love you guys so much but I had been hoping you would go back to these types, that’s why I fell in love with your channel!
Aw yay!!! So glad you're excited for it!!
Agreed! All are great but these sit down ones are classics! Missed them
" Happy on our little Island" You guys are hysterical!
I love when Lia speaks in an American accent. Joel emphasizes the accent so much! It sounds so funny 🤣
I love yall🥰so fun!!
American here.
1. I hate fast food. Only when I am running short on time and need something quick.
2. I would sue my employer if I couldn't take lunch
3. Work a steady schedule. Any change in my regular hours is brought to my attention well in advance
4. Black Friday is a sad tradition I refuse to partake in. The same products that you could probably find just a cheap online if you shop around enough
You got us on #5 Social Media. But whether American or not, it was bound to happen. Social media is a double edge sword. It helped elect Barrack Obama in 2008 and Trump in 2016. It's all in the context and how its used.
You can't sue your employer for not giving you a lunch break. If you are over 17 the Federal government and most states do not require that you be given *any* breaks.
I spend my lunch at my desk, watching Joel & Lia. I can leave my desk but then I won't have access to youtube. It's not because of dedication, I just have a bigger screen at my desk. :D
Im a brit and i spend at least 10 hours (during quarantine) watching tv, it was fully my fault not americans xD
It’s Original Content (less a bed & the J&L lit letters)! A welcomed return. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Aw thanks John!
Sister-in-law, half-brother was an executive with a major financial institution. Worked in London for about a year. Hated it. He's a serious workaholic and found the Brit work ethic hugely annoying. They'd show up late, take tea at 10, have a 2 hr lunch, another tea at 4, and dash out the door at 5.
Nothing wrong with that, as long as they are getting paid. If the employer doesn't complain, why should you?
Sounds good to me.
What a great discussion you had about this. Thanks!
I had an office job for 7.5 years. I hated it but I was so good at it, that I kept getting raises so I stayed. We were forced to eat at our desks on busy days and we worked 12 hours per day. That was no choice of any worker. We either worked through our break or get a write up or get fired.
Yes it is the employer, with the lunches and hours. It starts at the top down. If the manager works crazy hours and eats lunch at their desk they expect everyone else to do the same.
Black Friday is not like it use to because they can get same offers online.
Social media I agree, but was targeted a younger generation.
Use to be that way but have not watched TV in years.
Many office workers, especially in technical positions, constantly work on tight deadlines. Eating lunch at one's desk may reduce (unpaid) evening overtime. Reducing evening overtime is especially helpful for those who have children at home (or want some sort of social life).
Truth
I'm American. I watch TV all day about once a month, in my PJ's. This takes an alignment of the stars to happen. I have to get a day off. I have to have all grocery shopping, etc. done. It rarely aligns. But when it does... so nice.
Hey guys! Great video!
I have to say - the thing about watching a lot of TV - I'm old enough to remember a time when television only had about 10 broadcasting channels. Also, viewing time would end about 12AM, and restarted about 8AM. Nowadays, (just like New York City is the city that doesn't sleep), broadcasting doesn't sleep either. With over 200 channels, there's always something to watch. Doesn't mean that it's why we watch so much TV, but it does plays a significant role in it.
I have to say, I start watching TV about 9PM and it doesn't go off until about midnight. That's three hours right there almost every day.
@Jason Mistretta eh only way I binge watch tv all day is when college football is on on saturday and that needs to have atleast a good game for each time showing
Old Style is back! Love all your content. I'm in agreement with everything in this article as well.
Thank you Donnie!!! ❤️ ❤️
Your conversations are so funny lmao
The improvised "It Wasn't Me" at the end was awesome lol
How can you work all day AND watch TV all day... CAN'T happen
Maybe it's the retired folks that do this? The rest of us are too busy working. Oh, but wait---the retired folks I know spend the bulk of their time gardening, fishing, doing home and yard improvements--visiting--road trips, etc...So who ARE these all-day TV watching people???
They're probably the people not working and getting government benefits!
I think maybe they just meant people binge watching shows, not that we are all sitting around every day just watching TV. I rarely ever watch it since I got rid of cable. Before that the thing was on just as background noise probably 8-10hrs per day. Now that I stream everything though, if I find a series I haven't seen before and I like the first episode I might be glued to the TV until 3 in the morning.
@@margietucker1719 Stuck at home moms who are bored out of their minds, LOL!
@@waltman333 Nah, I like to suck up my sweet, sweet taxpayer cash by being physically handicapped. Wanna trade?
I’m an American and I know for a fact everything you described wasn’t me
Or ME....and not most people I know either. Can we say 'Stereotyping"?
Ellia xoItsAbigailox there are different people though
Articles tend to do that. I love that Joel and Lia know that about us, and themselves, so they weren't directing any of this at us directly. That's what's cool about them!!
Whataburger is amazing !! Huge , too much food but Amazing ! I’m a nurse manager and there’s just no time for a break, there’s just no time and they can tell us we have to take a break but they they keep giving work and deadlines to meet . If you want to advance at work you have to be the one picking up extra shifts and extra hours. I only did Black Friday when my kids were small, don’t really have time to shop like that anymore, don’t ever remember anyone fighting , but we would get in lines for HOURS!!! As for social media... it’s 2am and well , here I am , lol! I hardly watch TV , but I am stuck to social media. I think TV will be gone soon , everyone is more into Twitter, YT, Netflix , Hulu ... I think broadcast TV will be done soon 😁 new sub, love watching you guys !
I absolutely love that Lia called an umbrella a 'brolly'. It took me a few seconds to understand what she meant. But I got it with the context of the rain and her hand placement lol. I'm from America (Worcester, MA!) Love you guys so so much. I've watched every video.
When Joel said that we wanted our "independence" I had to laugh. The way he said it reminded me of King George III in the Hamilton musical 😂😂😂
Now I have to look up when finger quotes were invented. "I'm beginning to think it's an obscene gesture"
Good job, guys! This video is so enjoyable. I couldn't stop laughing. 🤣 🤣 🤣 Joe under the end card 😄 , nice touch! You're the best. America may be good at inventing apps, but they don't have anyone that can hold a candle to you!
Black Friday is a nightmare. I will never want anything badly enough to endure a Walmart on Black Friday in the US.
Where I work, you can take a 30 minute break (if you want) but if you choose to leave the plant you have to clock out. Everybody has lunch pales with food from home. Mostly, workers snack on food when they have spare time.
The best part... an ad for Wendy’s Nuggets pops up mid-way through the video. Haha!
omg amazing!
I was getting cosmetic commercials, but I don't even wear make up....lol
America is the "Brits" and others who got up and moved here to America. We have more MANY more Highlanders, Irish and many others than ever lived in their home countries. We got here and started doing things. We use each other's ideas.
aaaannnnnddddd....those types who 'left' those places? they were the explorers, the risk takers, the bold, the adventures, the 'what if' dreamers. They join together and started sharing, working, and 'making'. We are a melting pot of that spirit and energy.
@@nicksam5518 And some were not satisfied being 3rd sons.
I think a large part of the crazy work hours is that we need to work 40+ hours/week to be able to have health insurance. So we work nonstop to be able to go to the doctor when needed.
I am an American and I live in Argentina and I never realized alot of these things until I moved here. It blew my mind people actually take lunch breaks, or breaks at all. It blew my mind that students in university would JUST be students, and not work too. It is not even an option in the States unless you are filthy rich. The idea that is pushed in American culture is that the more you over work the more successful you will be- everything is gaged by productivity (not who you are per say). This has pros and cons, and is a large reason America is so successful but most people have horrible mental health. So, it is a toss up.
