I am loving catching up on your videos. You both are so sweet, and l love your interviewing skills . Joanne was adorable and so kind to let us view her apt.
My sister in law drove me over to Brownwood when they were constructing the downtown. There was nothing there but vacant areas and construction.
We ended up grabbing a bite to eat at a little hot dog type food truck . The town are turned out so nicely, l love the log cabin look . Reminds me of old time FL. One of my favorite books is A Land Remembered. It was a great story about an early settler . I think it is required reading for all FL public school students.
    Thanks again for sharing .

Originally The Lofts planned to make the lease maximum 1 year, because the purpose was for future home buyers to live there while they bought a house and it was constructed. Then the market went crazy. Good luck getting a house. The Villages built over 4K last year, but they were sold faster than you can say Gizmo!

Thank you for this video! I hope The Villages recognize there is a very large market of apartment dwellers and have plans to build more apartment communities in the future. There are just so many of us that do not want the responsibilities that homeownership brings. Lovely to have a single-family home, but personally, I do not want all of the work associated with having one. The Lofts would be a perfect solution for someone like myself to enjoy the lifestyle The Villages has to offer without worrying about contractors, expenses, etc.

Thank you for this video. We left NJ for The Villages the summer of 2020 to escape Covid. Plus, we had just retired. Sue Smith & Deb did a walk through with Roz, and I was sold. We were the 2nd renters to occupy Hickory building #3. We had a 1yr lease in unit #3105. It was so convenient to everything; The Villages Health and the Advanced Healthcare medical offices, to the Publix, to Brownwood Paddock Square. I liked to run 5K every other day, dance at the square a bit, walked about 5 miles everyday, and swam in the Trillium Rec Center pool a lot, as it was about 90 feet from our unit. Very nice! We got our exercise. We had no golf cart because as renters, no insurer offered liability insurance, so we didn’t risk it, and missed out on that experience. But we got around by car. That was fine. Our main concern was the spraying inside the units for pests. Our unit was infested with Palmetto roaches. The treatment killed some bugs, but they kept coming. We dreaded turned on the lights in the morning. And worse, getting up in the middle of the night without turning lights on! They refused to die. I believe we developed health related issues due to overspraying WE REQUESTED. When we left for 3 weeks to visit relatives in June and July, our symptoms went away. Then last January to February in 2021, the Lofts lowered the rent between $200 and $500 per unit. We asked for an adjustment and were denied. So we knew we were done there. Our neighbors Frandy(Frank & Andy) needed their walls painted and patched because of picture hanging and The Lofts charged them $2,500. When we left, our full deposit was returned. We left the unit spotless, like we were never there. Brand new. Probably our best experiences though were with people we met over the year. It was hard to say goodbye when we moved back to DelMarVa to be near our children and grandchildren. The heat, humidity, and bugs were a definite factor though. We might still be renting or homeowners in The Villages if not for that. We would never have known though if we hadn’t stayed for a full year. We have some great memories- obviously we still look forward to Mondays and Thursdays with Jerry & Linda.

Thank you Eric. This is a very informative comment. It is especially helpful to hear the full story. We are quite surprised that you had trouble with insects. We don't spray the inside of our home and we have seen hardly any. We get the occasional tiny, tiny ants. We have a pest control company that puts powder behind our light switches and it controls them very well.
Sorry to hear about your health issues, and hope that you are back to normal. Thanks again for the great summary of your experiences at the Lofts.

And that eliminates a lot of potential renters. By the way, I live near a couple 35 years younger than I who I doubt could handle walking up and down lots of steps. We thought The Lofts might become condos in the future. Lease with the option to buy. It’s a good idea!

Hi Jerry, Linda AND JoAnne, thanks for the great video. I learned so much about these apartments. One question....does the age limit here hold true here, like the rest of The Villages? Meaning can 20% of the residents be UNDER 55? This might be a great option for our 35 year old son.

Very helpful. I was wondering about the rental options. Did Joanne happen to mention how long her wait was before one became available.?

Good Thursday morning Jerry and Linda. Great interview with JoAnn. Very nice of her to let you come into her beautiful apartment.
I don't think that any apartments built in TV will down grade TV homes and life styles. Apartment dwellers will be paying an amenity fee just like the homeowners here in TV.
    Welcome to The Villages.

Thanks, I've always wanted to see inside hallways and apartments and couldn't really find any good videos. In fact yesterday I was trying to find more information. The concept is very interesting, but I understand that they do not rent it furnished. Can you confirm? It means that they are not for short stays like three months for example.

i would say that an electric bill for the Apts. would be lower, most Apts do not have an elevator so that is a big plus. Great video once again. Jerry and Linda on the beat in the Villages.

I haven't read all the comments so I'm not sure if anyone's asked my questions. One....do you have to take the amenity package? Two....if you don't have to take the amenity package can you use the apartment complex pool? And last, is there any kind of a bond payment? Thanks! Enjoyed the video as always!

Thank You Joanne for showing your lovely apartment. With the slow down of goods and services did you have to wait long to furnish your apartment? or is the furniture rented? Is there any problems with roaches or mice? I'm on the list looking for direction. Thank You......

Much appreciated to give us (seniors) a 'heads up' as to what is available. STILL, my concern with renting an apt is that the rent usually goes up each year and seniors on a fixed income can't afford it. Also no utilities covered. Hhmmmmm! It's unfortunate what rent is today for everyone who has to rent. In earlier years the goal was to buy and if you couldn't afford to do that at least you could rent-not so today. Good video though-all lovely people. Thanks for sharing.

    Jerry and Linda,
I'll be turning 60 this year, but completed a PhD last spring and it seems like I'm a long way from retirement. I do, however, enjoy thinking about it happening (someday?). If I do, it's good to know there are nice folks like you that I might come across! Best wishes!

Luxury is a over used word in the building industry these days. They put in some stone countertops and call the building Luxury. I just visited a “luxury house” in my neighborhood and it had Chinese kitchen cabinetry.
