Very cool. How much memory? What happens once memory is full? Do older recordings get deleted once memory bank is full?
The vehicle has an internal memory capacity of 32GB. That is plenty of space. You don’t have to worry about the memory getting full as the camera is not always saving the data unless you have a trigger which is if you get in a collision that trigger gets activated and can automatically store up to 20 seconds of video prior to that trigger and 20 seconds after the trigger for up to a full 40 second recording from all 4 cameras. The trigger if you want to capture something can also be activated manually as shown in the video. Once the recording is finished keep that video saved or transfer it on to a USB. If you want to delete any video you have to manually select that video and delete. This is a very helpful feature that BMW’s now offer. Appreciate you watching the video and for the feedback. 20 sec before and 20 sec after? is this the best BMW can offer? Have BMW ever heard of dash cams, recording 24/7 including when the car is parked? Teslas record everything 24/7 for years now. Why these old school manufacturers are so far behind in implementing new technologies?

Please share this feedback directly with the manufacturer. I will again and have already shared my feedback with BMW as they are very good at taking in all sorts of feedback and acting on it if it makes sense. I share the same sentiment and I wish as well that it worked 24/7 even when parked. However, I am just a guy showing you how it is.
@@SUmer416 My comment was generally addressed to BMW, not to you personally. Thank you for putting this information up, very helpful and informative. I know now, that I don't want this option, I'll just install 3rd party dash cams.
Technology? The hardware is already there IF BMW wanted to make it 24/7 they could. The chose not too. Its possible aftermarket coding could enable that too.

It is available on the iX3 (European)
Is there a reason why there is no registration option for bmw x5 2019
Is the trigger sensitive enough to capture a door ding while parked? How about if your car is keyed? Thanks! My M340i is arriving in a month and am looking forward to enabling this feature.

Unfortunately in a stationary vehicle it will not record unless the vehicle is being tampered with or trying to be broken into very aggressively. I personally just tried it. Tried pushing myself on the vehicle driver side door, pulling on the door handles and even thumping with my palm on the window and door and that did not activate the trigger on the drive recorder. It has to be a collision to self trigger, activated manually to record a scene or scenery or it has to be vandalized, as in window be broken into to activate the trigger. Hope this helps.

If the vehicle is parked unattended/ stationary without any power to the vehicle as in in accessory mode or engine switched off and car locked then no, unfortunately it can not capture that kind of a hit and run. If you are sitting in it or if the vehicle is on accessory mode with power or engine on, even when stationary then yes it will record an incident upon impact. Up to 20 seconds prior of the impact and up to 20 seconds after the impact. Hope this clarifies and answers your question.
How about recording when you leave the car parked! Does it still recording in case of hit and run?

How reliable is this system? Seems kinda useless if its not constantly recording.

Does it trigger when vehicle is parked and collision happen when no one in car?
Nope only when you are driving it.
And if i dont have that app? Can i download it, from where?
You have to buy it with the car, it's an add On to the parking assistance package
