That’s almost an insult to Stryker’s Armageddon design. At least Stryker in that game looked cool, especially with the added swords on the back and the tonfa. Sub Zero in legacy 2 just looks stupid with that padded body armor. They took the “realism” aspect too far. He looks more like some discount wannabe superhero than a badass ninja. And it doesn’t help that the mask he’s wearing also sucks.
Its just a cheap ass motorcycle armor… season 2 truly made me dislike the whole thing and I thought in season 1 it was a decent start…

I would hardly call Bi-Han an asshole, he didn't kill Scorpion out of malice and in Mythology he is shown to have compassion when he spared Sereena.
I love how kung lao is the most accurate character, but you're critique'n it. Lao's original character was that he was a peaceful monk that was dragged into the conflict. The characterisation you're talking about now, didn't occur until shaolin monks retconned his entire personality.

Street Fighter Assassin's fist took hella notes, and Capcom moved the fuck out the way so that they could do their thing. Knocked it outta the park is what they did.
The many degrees to which so many writers, directors and producers continue to fuck up this story in completely avoidable ways gives me a fucking headache.
For that reason, is why I want John Tobias to write the films, nobody comes as close to making Mortal Kombat as amazing as John, not even Ed Boon these days.

The thing that didn't make sense to me was when Liu Kang and Shang Tsung talked to each other, he acknowledges to have already killed him previously and seemed like he already participated in mk tournament.
It's because he did! Where you paying attention when you watched the series? Liu already won the 1st tournament.
@@gregorioalcantara8544 except for the fact that outside of their conversation that's never really firmly established. In season 1 everyone seems to be gathering for the first tournament. Although it's slightly difficult to keep track of the timeline with all the time jumps.
Sub-Zero and Scorpion are being manipulated into their roles.
Johnny Cage is being approached by Shang tsung to join a tournament.
Raiden is just now getting to Earth.
The Start of the tournament happened before season 1? In between seasons 1 and 2? During season 1 but in an episode we never saw? The show never actually conveys any of that information.
The show's narrative is all over the place. And even if you organize it chronologically, so much goes on explained and unseen. And there are plot points that just don't add up.
Did Liu run away before his first tournament? Then meet his girlfriend? When she died? And then he joined the first tournament?
Did he run away, then join up with the tournament anyway? Then kill Shang son of the tournament? Then meet his girlfriend?
Or did he participate in the first tournament, killing Shang tsung? Then run away from his responsibilities for the next tournament? Meet his girlfriend and she died and now he's being approached by Samsung and Kung Lao to participate in this next tournament?
I don't recall the show ever explaining any of this in any detail. The timeline and narrative is all very vague.

This series had so much potential with just watching the first season, but then it gets ruined by the second season. I don’t see myself coming back to this one often.

Bi-Han was incredibly evil but he was a victim of being framed by Quan Chi for something that he actually didn’t do, but he didn’t care enough to clear his name. It took his brother Quai liang (the current sub zero) to reason with scorpion and get him to understand that it was all a misunderstanding. The current sub zero is not evil like Bi Han

Only Hiroyuki Sanada and Joe Taslim are worth anything in this crap movie.

I like the idea of Raiden coming down to earth without powers and being mistaken for a crazy person. Kinda like in 12 monkeys (good movie) or Thor. Maybe he was banished by the gods and he has to regain his honour and powers kinda like in Thor. Anyway, I think it's a really really good idea, it's just not executed well in this story.
to me he seemed to have the powers,but since being constantly drugged he was blocked from them,like if he needed to concentrate fully to have control over them,kinda like Tolkien´s Istari being limited in power while in Middle-earth

I don't know if I would call Bi-Han an asshole, he's far more of a dude that is only doing his duty and has aspects of evil in him to get it done, but it's not like he wants to be evil, he just has it in his soul and can overcome it if he had the right people with him like Sareena, Kuei Liang, Raiden or even Hanzo to help him.
14:18 The three Kenshi "plotholes" aren't even plotholes, you just misinterpreted what had happened. Kenshi DEFEATED Ermac, Kenshi claimed Sento, Kenshi was blinded from his battle with Ermac, BUT Kenshi did not kill Ermac.
Why do people think the only way to make Liu Kang interesting is making him a villain? The 1995 movie went for a take on Liu Kang that goes beyond a pacifist monk that's a good fighter, but they made him interesting in a way that works and keeps him as the protagonist.
Machinema gave a first time director a budget that equates to one episode of network television and wanted an entire season of a web series. What were people expecting? Let’s just be thankful they got actual martial artists in the series, meaning even when they fucked around in those fights they looked pretty good.
I agree with you, but bad is bad. I'm not gonna be thankful there's a cameo of one of my fave characters and see them die off in a comic, show, or movie. Or see something I love not adapted good.

That scorpion episode was great though, quan chi should be the killer,bihan should be a decent person,bihan should be innocent do no evil guy and that song in the final scene is pretty lit
I feel like they could make Mortal Kombat really dark and disturbing. it would fit as long as they stick to the source material for example when scorpions family is Cube they could make the scene painful and get the actor to portray a traumatic experience

I completely agree with your take. I really enjoyed Legacy's take on Mileena and Kitana, especially since given the comics and what John Tobias has said on Twitter about the characters it seems a lot more accurate to his intention with their backstory than the actual games are nowadays- on the other hand though most of the series is either very standard (Jax and Sonya are what you would expect from Jax and Sonya) or just dark and gritty for the sake of it without being true to the characters (Raiden getting tossed in a mental asylum and Liu becoming a bad guy). If everyone had been in-character but just expanded upon/given more depth the way Mileena and Kitana were, the series couldve been the best MK content we've had since the 2000s. Sadly that was not the case
On a serious note season 1 Johnny was cool, but season 2 Johnny. He was a straight up biooootch. The fight with him vs mileena was the most infuriating thing I've seen. Also it doesn't matter how drunk he is Liu wouldn't lose a fuckin bar fight.

I have a great idea about the whole sub-zero and scorpion in feudal Japan thing. First, we set them both in modern times, that way we don't have to explain some bullshit as to why they're still alive after living for 600 years. Then, to differentiate the Lin-Kuei from the Shirai Ryu we make it so that the Lin-Kuei is some sort of modern ninja clan similar to the Yakuza, kinda like in daredevil. You can make it so that they wear Yakuza style modern suit clothing but underneath the modern facade there are mysterious traditions and typical ninja shit like katanas and ninja clothing. The Lin-Kuei are more reliant on modern technology. This would explain the cyber initiative. Then for the shirai Ryu, we make them the typical iconic feudal style ninjas, so it's just the same as in the games, this tv-show, scorpion's revenge and the 2021 movie. This would differentiate the two ninja clans and help explain some of the rivalry between them.
When you think about Liu Kang in season 2? It seems as if they took inspiration from the first original 1995 film where he left the Shaolin and they went more in depth and then deviated.
I got the Mortal Kombat Legacy and as soon as Baracka came on screen, I took out the DVD and burned the disk, that’s what I get for buying a DVD from a Dollar General, it was like five bucks anyway.
If some of the characters are brought forward through time, why is Kenshi and Sub-Zero dressed in modern gear? If they dont want ninjas using swords and arrows in modern day, just make them a modernized version of a ninja clan. And Kenshi, there is no reason a drifter wandering place to place to fight can't be done in modern day at all...
This show is horrible god awful I never felt so offensive in my life as a hardcore mortal kombat fan.

Honestly, I just need the source material to be adapted enough so majority of audiences know that this is the DEFINITIVE MK experience, once that’s done, then we can do some alternate realities with drastic changes, kinda like Spider-Man Noir, Logan or Injustice comics

Kung Lao was originally depicted as a pacifist. His character was massacred in the new timeline (and in shaolin monks). He was the better version of liu kang.
Bi han was never depicted as an evil man. The only thing outright bad he did was killing scorpion. Quan killed scorpion's clan and family in mythologies as well.
He was a jealous cocky asshole in shaolin monks. They just brung it back and turned it up a knotch in the new timeline

The First Episode Was Fantastic
While I agree there were a couple of gems in there such as the cyborgs and an exploration of Kitana & Mileena's relationship (which I wish we had more of), I otherwise really didn't like Legacy at all. I had actually forgotten about that Raiden episode and just how cringe it was.
However, I absolutely loath what they did to Scorpion and Bi Han and how it's become the norm. If it was an isolated incident (like the Raiden episode), I could just ignore it and forget about it. But because they keep reusing it in other adaptions and it's even started to bleed into the games (MK11 claiming Bi Han was innocent) - It just gets me so worked up and I just can't stop pushing back against it. I'm seriously worried the next game reboot will canonise it.
MK Sub-Zero Mythologies shows that both clans were hired by Quan Chi (and Shinnok). Both Hanzo and Sub-Zero (Bi-Han) meet and Hanzo dies. Lin Kuei's payment for succeeding was Hanzo's clan wiped out. Bi-Han himself isn't meant to be pure evil. More of a grey or anti-hero. He's just ruthless and supposed to be the best assassin/fighter in his clan. He even defeats Scorpion again in mythologies.
Scorpion in the original time line (MK2) thinks Sub-Zero is back but figures out this isn't the same guy (this one shows mercy but also a worse fighter) and does not kill him as his revenge was only against the original Sub-Zero.
If I remember correctly, Sub-Zero in MK1 was originally hired to kill Shang Tsung, but this was retconned in MK:SZM ending to the Lin Kuei being hired by Shang Tsung to fight for outworld.
@@WelcomeToTheRezvolution I'm well aware of all that. I've been playing the games since they first came out and have been a massive Scorpion / MK / lore fan since Deadly Alliance. Scorpion and Bi Han's rivalry is legendary and yet Legacy and other adaptions that are inspired by it (like Scorpion's Revenge) spit in the face of that rivalry. I don't want that shit bleeding over into the games!
Bi Han being a good guy adds more depth to the story that's developing and if Season 3 had existed you know Kuai Liang would've became Noob instead of Bi Han.
Mortal Kombat legacy is underrated and overheated. It tries to do something new and I am a very big fan of realistic Mortal Kombat.

With all of Legacy’s faults, I like how they kept more of Kung Lao’s original personality from the first timeline. Still, what they did to Liu Kang was atrocious.

Kronika is the reason why each story changes- thats how they clean up the messy timeline.

Ok so i read the mythologies version of scorpion and sub zero. It made quan chi look smarter. Playing both sides of the lin kuei and the shyrai ryu to gain what he wants. He get the map he wanted and he got scorpion as his servant

Originally, I hated it, I got over it because it brought a positive trying something different. I thought the movie would have run with momentum, a difference, or "take." Instead, it looks like something that was taken for granted 🤔 All three productions had a cringy moment, and I agree with lots of what you said.
