    This is the best F150 video I've seen on UA-cam very in-depth! You should do the 2017 Platinum F150.

    RE: Allen Chou- At Mills, we currently have several options available like you describe to help protect your paint, and indeed Ford Motor Company does plan to release those wheel well cover options this spring. (Great questions though!!)

    Sweet video... thanks for making/posting it! I'm looking at a truck as my next vehicle, because I want something with a taller ride height, and a bit more utility than a car, and I'm in love with the base F150 XL... has everything I'd need, but for the moment, it's just a bit out of my price range. :(

    One of the best videos I've seen of the new F150. Maybe in 2 years I'll get one and import it to Germany.

      Having been stationed in Germany I totally understand. Parking garages were also a nightmare.

    • @Raphael1989
      @Raphael1989 10 років тому

      Josh Leviton Right. It's hard to find a parking garage with a clearance for cars higher than 2m (6.6ft) :-(

    • @dvillalba3d
      @dvillalba3d 9 років тому

      My 2 cents... The freeways in Europe are just as wide as those on the US. Mountain roads and secondary roads are however narrower. But forget about visiting an old city center in anything larger than a compact...
      2m is not 6.6ft its 7.8. And while you will find parking's with clearance for 2m height. Most parking lots in Europe top at 1.80m (7ft).

    very nice movie!! very nice!! decision maker! congrats!! tks a lot!! just two questions: as a daily driver...i mean, city, traffic jam...isn't too big? and also..does it skid too much? fish tail?

    • @MillsAutomotive
      @MillsAutomotive  8 років тому

      +Marcus Goncalves Thank you for the compliments & questions! If you're at all interested in driving a truck, the F-150 isn't too big, but of course that is a personal choice, our best advice would be to try one out and see how it feels for you. As to skidding or fish-tailing, there has been some remarkable improvements in trailer sway & traction control features in recent years reducing those concerns. If you're curious and anywhere near Brainerd or Willmar, MN, give us a call at 866-455-7638 or connect with us via www.millsauto.com.. there's no reason you couldn't take a test drive and see how it feels for you. Thanks again for watching!!

    Ive been trying to decide on what kind of vehicle to buy for a year now. Im going to get a new ride around august and I think this will be the one. All around vehicle that you can fit people in.... Transport stuff and its safe and good gas for a truck. I almost wanted the new stang but cant really fit the kiddos in there all comfy. Idk... But most likley a truck after driving a suv for over ten years.

    Good overview. A couple of things to take into consideration, though. 1 - Aluminum body = high cost for repair. About twice as a standard sheet metal body would be. 2 - 700lbs lighter, but that will be quickly made up with the new massaging, heated and cooled seats, plus additional options that Ford decided to throw in to it's $50k + truck line. I had one for 2 days as a demo. Driving normally, I only averaged 19MPG with it. That's not great for a 3.5L Eco engine.. just my opinion of course.

    • @MillsAutomotive
      @MillsAutomotive  10 років тому

      You would be correct about the high cost for aluminum repair except Ford engineers took that into consideration, using a sectional design approach that offsets and mitigates those repair cost concerns. We know this because our body shop www.thebodyworks.com happens to be one of the few in the area equipped to do this work (and we won't be charging anything extra just because it's aluminum). You are correct about the extra amenities offsetting some of the weight savings in the frame and body- (still nice to have some of those features available though). Last but not least, the 23 MPG rating is for Highway travel, 19 MPG is supposed to be the average, so you did pretty well. :-) We appreciate your comments, great to see all these different perspectives.

      they made them 700 lbs lighter so the towtrucks could pull 2 at a time back to the shop lol

      My dad bought last years f150 with the ecoboost engine and he hates it. He got much better mileage from his 5.4 liter he had before. Best he's seen with the 3.5 is 18 or 19 so far and he drives very conservatively. Not sure if true or not but I was told by a car salesman that when they advertise the mileage of vehicles it's very deceiving how they do it. Apparently what they do is take every vehicle ford has with the 3.5 ecoboost engine (whether it be a car, truck, or suv) and they basically average it out. So the cars with this engine may get high 20's and the trucks may get mid to high teens but they pretty much average it out and advertise that it gets low to mid 20's when in reality the trucks don't get near that. Now my dad did switch to running premium fuel and he did say that his mileage average went up a couple MPG in both city and highway driving environments. His only other complaint with the truck is that even though it says it can pull more than 9,000 lbs, it certainly doesn't like to. They've got a travel trailer that full of fluids and loaded weighs about 7,500-8,000 lbs and it's everything that truck can do to keep it under control. He even spent like 3,000 bucks on a high end hitch that is supposed to redistribute the weight over the axle like a 5th wheel and it still has a hell of a time keeping the trailer under control.
      Other than that it seems to be a great truck. As far as the interior goes, I don't think there's a truck that touches it. Great looking truck as well. Just don't expect to get the advertised mileage and when you get over 5-6,000 lbs. towing, it may not impress you that much. I still think what they should have done is stuck with the v8's and run whipple superchargers or single turbo's. Just my opinion but I think that would have been better. Plus, I don't know about you guys, but when I fire up my full size truck, I want to hear the rumble of a v8, not a v6.

      @guyproulx1660 10 років тому

      Scott Stalmack your dad should go testdrive a 5.7 L tundra and pull that same trailer with it, i'm sure he'd be amazed

    • @fuohio1
      @fuohio1 10 років тому +1

      That's weird you say that cause he actually checked one out. Didn't tow with it or anything but really loved the looks of it and said the reviews were pretty impressive. I think he stuck with the ford though cause he's pretty loyal to the brand having worked there many years ago as well as my grandfather retiring from there. Not to mention he gets the family discount (a-plan think) which knocked off like 6 grand. He's already looking at f-250's though. Better towing truck and great for plowing. Maybe I'll consider the tundra for myself though.

    Why doesn't Ford offer wheel well covers for the rear sides. Would the exposed paint get chip by rocks and quickly cause it to rust? I notice the new Rams and GM trucks have rear wheel well covers on their half-ton pick-ups.

    Nice review, I find all these 4 door trucks just too big, beautiful Cadillac's but completely useless as you cant comfortably park these things. I will just stay away and hold on to my Tacoma as it is the best 4 door for maneuverability and just the right size. The full size are screaming for 4 wheel steering, even the Tacoma could use it. Ya a lot of people are not asking for it; because they don't know it exists. Owners who have had 4 wheel steering know that it is the best option ever offered on a truck.
    I don't like the window, cant rest my arm on the ledge, it is too high, the drive assist stuff would drive me nuts, definitely rather put my money towards 4 wheel steering. I think you have the best-most efficient motor, I love the 2.7 turbo and saving weight the way Ford did was a great thing to do. I don't like the front bumper approach angle, all trucks should have a similar front bumper of that of the Raptor or even better that of a Tacoma, give us some comfortable clearance when off road.

    • @budcargeorge
      @budcargeorge 9 років тому

      jldude84 I'd pay more for a smaller truck over a large one. Same reason smaller laptops cost more. They are more convenient and get the job done for the few times you may actually need to haul. The rest of the time it is mostly an advantage for parking, off roading and steering. Unless your using the back seats for adults all the time then the Tacoma is a better lifestyle choice, but that's always up to the buyer

    • @budcargeorge
      @budcargeorge 9 років тому

      jldude84 I raced a 2015 5.0 Ford 4 door 4x4 the other day with my 2015 Tacoma 4 door 4x4 and beat it. At the next light the guy said to let him have the jump so I did and I still got half a truck length ahead of him at 140km/hr as I shut it down for sake of a speeding ticket. So power goes to the Tacoma unloaded. If you look at the 1/4 mile times the Tacoma does better or just as good as the any of the Ford motors. Pulling would prove different but I rarely if at all ever pull anything. The epa ratings show the Ford as 1mpg worse than the Tacoma. Not that I care as the difference is a mute point.

    ok i love ford, been around them my whole life they've never let me down. That being said, it seems to me that the f150 have become an iphone and is no longer a true working truck. The basic model at my local dealership runs 37k. 37K who wants to drop that for a BASIC f150, 50k for a lariat!

    • @lonelamon
      @lonelamon 9 років тому

      Todd S at my local dealership if you want a 4x4 with a v8 you'll be paying around 45k for a 2014. they are really pushing the eco boost up here. and the 2015 line up are all white eco boosts except the 50k lariats.
