  • Ford's F-150 isn't just the best selling truck in America, it outsold the entire Hyundai brand in 2014. With numbers like that its no wonder Ford spend so much time getting the F-150 just about perfect. After a week with this pickup I have to say that it's just a new transmission and an optional air suspension away from being the best pickup ever made. That new transmission? It should be here soon...

    Alex, your auto reviews are some of the best on UA-cam. I viewed them MULTIPLE times when I was in the market for a vehicle. They helped me in the decision making process for my first truck. Thanks for the assistance and keep up the good work!

    Alex, The 2.7 Twin Turbo V6 is actually faster 0-60 than the Chevy/GMC 6.2 V8. There are a few videos on youtube from reputable reviewers like yourself that have tested both 0-60 side by side and the 2015 2.7 is faster than the 6.2 v8 for some reason (I think because it's lighter and gets most torque at a very low rpm compared to the 6.2.
    That was the only note I have to add, EXCELLENT review!

    thanks alex for the review video, it's the best god damn car review i have ever seen, and I've seen at least a thousand! lol . very in depth review and comparing between other trucks, pop up comparison graphics are awesome, beautiful 4k video, and you seem to have full knowledge of what you are talking about , no stuttering or a bunch of "um um um".i don't know why u got such a high views and such low thumbs up, it's a very well made and thought out review , so good that i had to comment, my first time lol ! i recently bought a 2015 platinum f150 i fucken love this truck it's blowing my mind and all of my friends mind of what this platinum can do ! all the bells n whistle it has 2 things that help me big time i live in the city and it's very hard to find parking for a big truck so the 360° camera and the parallel park assist has help me bigtime parking into some tight spots! i fucken luv it, everyone should check this f150 platinum truck out, it's a badass truck!

      Jason Davis I think all the Platinum comes in is either the v8 or 3.5 V6 EcoBoost. The V6 has some nice power. I drove the 5.3 V8 GMC Sierra 1500 and thought the Ford had more power.

    Great job as always - this has always been one of my biggest reservations on truck ownership, gas mileage. People have told me, "If you own a truck, you're not in it for the mpg". Point taken, but since truck ownership is an option for me (not a necessity) mpg is a factor, as is cabin comfort and lux options - LED lights, massage seats, surround view cameras; my mouth begins to water!

    • @kipamore
      @kipamore 9 років тому

      Thoughts, Ideas, and what? Oh, I don't know. Unless you are used to a very small car, the trucks actually get pretty good mileage. A full sized sedan might get high 20s compared to the truck's low 20s. It's just not that big a delta depending on your application. Another way to think about is in money. If you are spending 40+K on a truck, it simply doesn't matter what the mileage is because if you just want to get from A to B, a 20K car can get 10mpg but you can buy an awful lot of gas for the 20k difference. Compared to a sedan that gets 28 mpg, 22mpg just isn't a big deal in terms of money.

    Another great review Alex. First off, go ahead and hit those deer we saw in the video. Delicious. It seems like Ford blew their wad on weight savings, whereas the other two spent it on transmission/engine dev and got better results. Since it came out, the Ecoboost (all of 'em) have been saddled with the complaint that they don't get what the EPA rates them at. The F150 does have a possible big advantage over the other two; in 10 years when they are used and I can afford them, the Ford may have less rust. I live in Ohio, and it's the bane of my automotive existence. Something tells me that the F150 will still find a way to rust out, or have some other unforseeable issue, but if it turns out the thing NEVER rusts at all, that's big news in my world. It'd be nice to buy 1 truck and have it last 30 or 40 years. Then I could justify the price of these monstrosities.

    I was considering a 2015 Chevy Silverado until I rented one for a weekend. Drove two hours to drop some stuff off at the house my daughter is renting to go to university and by the time I got there I hated the truck. The rattling dash drove me nuts and this truck only had 990 miles on it. I will say though with cruise on the mpg's were fantastic.

    Alex, what is the configuration that will have 3,000 lbs payload capacity at 1/2 ton? And....will it hold the width of a pallet? I realized last week when hauling 3 pallets of cement (3100lbs) that a payload of 3000 lbs is and ability to hold pallets flat is a great time and back saver. I shopped and did some googling and noticed that most of the time you have to go up to the heavy duty lines of the respective manufacturer to get that large of payload.
    If the truck can't hold pallets, you have to load up 90 lbs cement bags one by one....

      But one thing to keep in mind for the newer Ford pickups is that they're made of aluminum, so if you dropped a toolbox or whatnot accidentally, then there would be a crack. So I would recommend the GM trio of full-sized pickups. Those are made out of steel which is more durable than the aluminum found in the Ford.

    69 decibels in the cabin noise is merely "fairly quiet" for a full sized pickup? That's the same as the MB S550 you tested! I'd say that's much better than "fairly quiet" for just about anything on the road. ;)

    The reason the engine sounds like a small V8 to you is because Ford produces the sound you're hearing through the speakers. While parked rev the engine and then open the driver door and rev it again. You'll notice a difference in the sound because opening the door defeats the synthetic sound provided through the speakers.

    Weren't Hyundai and Kia heavily fined for lying about their fuel consumption numbers? And, if i remember correctly, their stated numbers were only 1-2 MPG above what a person in real world conditions would experience.
    From what you said, the F-150 with the 3.5L turbo is getting 3-4 MPG below what is advertised. I'm surprised more attention hasn't been brought to Ford, especially considering how you test-drove (no tow and mainly city) is how most people with a truck drive.

    • @k3v015Mk
      @k3v015Mk 9 років тому

      Epitopi 3-4 off? I think that's a little bit exaggerated. I don't know, may be some people get it that bad. What I have experienced with the 3.5 tt (work trucks) is that the hwy fuel mileage is pretty accurate. 20-22 isn't hard to get when you're just cruising on the freeway. Its the city mpg that falls a little short. I believe Ford did get in trouble for mpg ratings on the c-max. But those numbers were advertised like 10 above what it actually gets.

      Because people like myself are now cross-shopping luxury 2 row crossovers with full-size trucks. They are in the same price range (after the current heavy discounting on the trucks), can seat 5 (or 6 in some trucks), are very quiet and has a nice ride.
      As a matter of fact we tested a Lincoln MKX and my wife found it not quiet enough and the ride could be "more softly" (her words). The Lincoln salesman quickly replaced his Lincoln hat with a Ford one and suggested the F-150. It was more quiet and had a better ride than the MKX. The MKX did handle better and probably gets a few more MPG, but the huge, quiet cabin, ride height, and wonderful towing mirrors, where she could "see everything", nearly had her sold on the truck. I am sold, as I want something to tow a future travel trailer or my next Jeep. We are still looking and testing, but the pickup is now in the mix.

    I do not agree with Ford discontinuing their excellent 6.2L V8 engine on the F-150. In addition to the lower weight thanks to the aluminium body of the F-150, Ford should've introduced new technologies to improve fuel economy on the 6.2L, such as auto-start-stop and cylinder deactivation. This would have easier propelled the fuel economy and acceleration of the F-150 above its competitors, such as the Chevrolet Silverado 6.2L V8. Oh well. Hopefully they'll reintroduce it one day.

    nobody buys a 62 thousand dollar truck and get into the bed of it. if you can't park a pickup then you shouldnt be driving one. and that thing has more computers than an engineer's workshop. if it aint broke you can't fix it. put disc brakes in a 55 ford flat bed and go to town.
