      @@Robihoo I’m not sure I understand your situation properly.
      Once you made the right connection to power everything should work.
      You need to set up date and time at the beginning and it should stay set.
      Saying that, if you didn’t start your motorcycle for a long time, the camera controller’s battery will discharge completely. The discharge will be even faster if it’s cold outside.
      This might be the reason why you need to set up date / time after a longer sitting period.
      Is this your case? Thanks

    You could try putting some silicone pads between the headlight, camera and screw. Should help with the vibration.

    I think your vibrations are electrical interfereance from the engine - possibly RFI from the ignition coils or headlight LED driver.
    Test by rerouting the wires to the camera and/or remote over the tank temporarily and/or also test mounting the camera in another location away from the headlight.
    If this works look at getting slip over cable shielding.

      It's not much I can do now, I want to have it case of an accident .... Cables are fitted high enough on a tank and I don't think it's from interferences [though I'm not skilled enough to test it :) ].
      Your suggestion to test mounting in another location is really good, I'll do that ASAP and let you know. Cheers

    Greetings from sunny South Africa, Mr Bear! I've installed the same dashcam on my homebuilt sportscar and I've picked up a problem: the dashcam comes on when I turn on the ignition (as it should) but when I start the engine, it seems the voltage drop (from ~13.5V down to ~9.3V) causes the dashcam to power down! As I've installed the head unit in a lockable metal binnacle (to dissuade the light-fingered mob when the car is parked on the street), getting to the power switch is awkward. The "automatic power-on" feature of the dashcam is effectively useless if starting the engine kills the dashcam! Any ideas? Also, I was a bit disappointed with the video quality, particularly with the extent of fish-eye distortion, but the GPS function worked well - once I'd upgraded to Windows 10 and downloaded the software: the CD included with the kit arrived cracked! This is the THIRD dashcam I've tried...

      Hi Elio, I hope you’re ok. I didn’t have this issue on mine. What motorcycle you have? Is it doing it every time? Does any of the lights goes on when you turn on the ignition? Cheers

      @@mrbear3888 ... it's not mounted on a motorbike - it's mounted on my homebuilt sportscar (a locally-developed design called a 'Harper'). I'm guessing maybe the dashcam tolerates the voltage drop caused by a motorcycle engine being started better than a Toyota 2.0 turbo (3S-GTE) engine being cranked over from cold! It seems to be somewhat random, though. The daytime running lights come on automatically, adding to the voltage drop (although they are LEDs, so would be negligible compared with the starter current). The car hasn't been used much in the past year, so the (small) battery may need a good charge. I'm thinking of trying capacitors on the 5V outputs from the power supply to counteract the voltage drop long enough to keep the dashcam running.

    • @mrbear3888
      @mrbear3888  3 роки тому +1

      @@elioboezio7107 I think the capacitors might solve the problem. Alternatively, you can connect the dash cam to a power bank who can be connected to the battery (with a switch between power bank and dash cam placed in a suitable location). A bit complicated but might solve the problem. ☺️

    • @elioboezio7107
      @elioboezio7107 3 роки тому +1

      @@mrbear3888, after a bit more research... I think I've found the flaw in my idea. Using a formula I found on the interweb, [ C = I * dV / dT ] and assuming a current draw of 1 amp, a dropout time of 20 seconds and a voltage drop of 1 volt (on the 5V output side of the power adapter), that means I'd need a capacitor value of 1 * 1 / 20 = 0.05 Farads... or 50,000 μF. Which is a very big capacitor indeed. So I need to establish exactly what the actual voltage drop is on the output side and how short a dropout time the dashcam will tolerate, to see if a smaller (practical!) capacitor might work... so it's back to the drawing board! Oh, and incidentally, it turns out the cable that allows power to be drawn from a USB port is missing from the box!
