    Just bought a 2020 bolt r-spec. Used but only 1500 miles on it. First ride home was a dream for me after not riding in almost 7 years. This video helped me narrow down my decision

    Helmet, gloves, & long pants - always. Sandals or shorts, never. But a full riding suit on a hot day? Your chances of dying of heat stroke are greater than having an accident, unless you have an accident caused by the deliriousness of heat stroke.

    I just got a bolt R. I was going to get the 883 sportster, but the price difference made up my mind.
    I got the crash bar, passenger seat, sissy bar, passenger pegs, for a lower price. Plus it’s a Yamaha, well known for their reliability.

      Just scored a low mileage 2014 for $3500. I stopped riding sport bikes 10 years ago and was curious about getting back into riding, the Bolt seemed like a low risk option at the price.
      I hope I'm happy with the power, I'm not expecting much, but my last bike had 90+ ft/lbs of torque and over 100hp.

    Everybody likes to compare that to a Sportster, Sports has been around since 1957. What that bike looks like, is like all metric bikes they just missed the mark. It also looks cheap it just doesn't look very solid and anything I'd want to own. I know it's all that and a bag of chips. According to everyone trying push them. Anyone who's reading a Sportster and I've had four or five of them my first one in 1969 Kickstart Magneto only, would run you over on that Bolt. It looks like a very much a beginner bike, the difference between a Zippo and a cricket lighter. When you fill up and be used the other one you throw away. Stop embarrassing yourself with these comparisons. I don't ride a Harley although I did for 30 years. I'm back on the Honda

    I just got the Bolt R spec a few weeks ago. Traded in my Yamaha R6 that I owned for 6 years. I love the bike! It’s comfortable, it looks amazing, it sounds good with a pipe on it, and it makes enough power. Not to mention the price is good.

    • @brandon_945
      @brandon_945 4 роки тому

      MrMoneyHelper I haven’t experienced any of the heat issues. No part of my body has gotten hot due to the engine. It’s a very comfortable ride. This includes city riding when sitting at stop lights and the bike getting warm. I personally haven’t had issues with the air filter sticking out but that could but easily resolved anyway. Just through an open air filter on it. I have the R spec piggy back shocks and I think the suspension is great. The speedometer is a common complaint, and while I agree it’s odd to have a circular display but display the speed in a square box, I really don’t mind it and I appreciate the simplicity. I don’t have issues reading the speed. All in all I have about 1,500 miles on the bike now and I still love it and think it’s a very good cruiser bike

    I picked up a similar bike just recently, the yamaha scr950. I have to agree that the mirrors need extensions is nothing else just to be able to see around your elbows. My only other complaints would be that my right knee is always into the air intake because of its positioning and the position of the right peg just feels so much farther out then the left. Other then that it's a great, low maintenance bike with plenty of power but they could've given it a much better speedometer/tach.

    I live in Houston, so know about the heat. Look into getting an EVS Ballistic Jersey. Has the protection but extreme light and allows for a cooler ride.

    I wanted to get this bike after I got my Motorcycle license but the lady at the dealership told me that they couldn't sell it to me because I was a beginner and that I needed at least 2 years of riding before I can purchase a Yamaha. She also told me to go to Harley Davidson. They'll sell a bike to anyone. That's ridiculous, how else are you suppose to learn how to ride? I took the lady's advice and I purchased a Harley, it's there lost.

      I purchased a brand new Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom back in 2009 with 0 riding experience. Had it delivered to my home. I see nothing online that says you can't buy it, unless it was just that one dealers policy.

    • @hialeahsbest6479
      @hialeahsbest6479 6 років тому +5

      It was that dealership. Fast forward 6 months later, I went to other dealerships such as Honda, Triumph, BMW and even the Yamaha dealership where they shot that Rapper singer in Pompano Beach, FL 2 or 3 months ago. Anyhow, they all told me that it was a ridiculous policy and the manager of the store even said "Maybe they just didn't want to sell it to you". Because no one in their right mind will send you to the competitor. So yeah, It was my bad luck. In Hindsight, they were right. I was real angry at that time and when I got to the Harley dealership, they were real nice to me and of course, I didn't talk that much and I didn't say to any of them that I was a new rider. What was cool about the Harley dealership was that they let me try out the bike out on the road. So yeah, it was that one dealership policy.

    Between the Vulcan S and the Bolt which would you chose for a taller rider . I’m 6’3 250 .
    I definitely like the exhausted and the Vtwin sounds of the bolt better

    • @MotoChooch
      @MotoChooch  4 роки тому +1

      Honestly, I'm 3 inches shorter than you and I would still take the Vulcan over the Bolt. If you're getting a new Vulcan S they have the ergo fit system which lets you select the handlebars, seat, and peg location for your riding preference. That and it just feels like a nicer ride overall makes me say Vulcan over Bolt every time.

    How tall are you sir? I’m barely under 6’3” 207lbs, with an inseam of 34”. I’ve been looking at a Yamaha Bolt but not sure how I’ll fit. Does anyone have any suggestions for “beginner” cruisers, for taller people? Thanks.

      6' 32" inseam. Check out the Kawasaki Vulcan S. It has the Ergo Fit system and can be tailored a bit more to your height.

    • @MotoChooch
      @MotoChooch  4 роки тому

      Try adding a deadcat to the mic. That helped me a lot with wind noise. The reason I use the sony is because of the side mount slim profile that allows for the front of my helmet to stay more aerodynamic and it doesn't block any vents. Plus, the B.O.S.S. system (optical OIS) is amazing!

    Nice Motus in the parking lot at 6:10
    Yikes! After watching most of the rest of the review... just no. This is a terrible motorcycle. It is soulless, generic in every way. The looks provide a promise the bike doesn't deliver. The brakes are weak to the point of dangerous in emergencies. The acceleration is lackluster at best. the ergonomics are pretty good but this is not a bike that, as a first bike, will generate a lifelong love of riding.
    New riders should get something with small-ish displacement and weight, yes, but with more substance, more *fun* built in. The small Suzuki Boulevard (also a 900 cruiser but getter in every way), a 900cc Triumph, a Moto Guzzi Stone, or my favorite an SV 650.. These bikes are all more fun and can be had used for a song.
    Yamaha builds the most reliable bikes but I guarantee buyers won't put many miles on the Bolt. They will either move on to a better bike or or give up riding altogether. In either case these should be available on the used market and should be avoided anyway, unless of course you have the resources to modify it significantly. Even then...
