    My grandfather was blessed to have a talent that brought him a nice amount of money during his career and he always told me.. when he gives my family members, friends or even me money he doesn’t expect it back… and he only gave money to people he didn’t expect to get back because he could afford to lose it. However, he was great with money, didn’t live extravagantly and had several investments bringing him more money. He just never gave out money he couldn’t afford to lose

    My experience has been that I've helped people in my family but now don't get as much as a phone call from them. I'm a senior citizen who lives alone, and those who I've helped never cross my doorstep. Thank God, I'm able to take care of myself. Thank you, Jesus. 🙏🏿👐🏿🙏🏿👐🏿

    I had a sister who used to do that while saying it was for her kids. Found out later, she was using it to get her hair done. This bank closed! I wasn' even getting my hair done! No more funds for her ! Lesson learned.
    At another time, I went to my oldest sister for help. Her response: She wasn't helping me while I had an able-bodied man in my house. I can't fault her for that call. It made it hard but I made it through. Resilience and tenacity!

    Jay-Z isn't cheap. He bought his nephew a car as a high school graduation gift, the nephew crashed it and died. The nephew's girlfriend was 2 months pregnant when the accident happened. Jay-Z took care of the baby and mother.

    I became homeless and slept in my car for 2 yrs. I been back on my feet and going through that lit a fire in me. I had to come out of that on my own. Everytime a family member ask for money i tell them i just paid rent. Idc what time of the month it is. And yes these are the same family members who i couldn't stay with. It really is true, God blesses those who can hold their own. I will not lend another penny unless its my aunt and she doesn't need money. And anybody else can get just get 20$ or less a year once. I dont want it back.

    I feel better about helping family when they don’t ask. Especially when I see them working hard and making tough decisions to take care of their responsibilities. When they do ask, I always say I will see what I can do. Can’t put yourself in a bind trying to bail someone else out when they have made bad decisions.

    My dad grew up very poor. My dad and his youngest brother both graduated college & became successful in their fields. They were not even millionaires & a ton of my dads family were constantly asking my dad and uncle for money. They had to start saying no and cut off family members.     I only give a handful of people money, and i don't expect it back. The thing when friends ask me for money, and they immediately say I'ma get you back next week. Then next week comes and nothing. Then a week turns into 6 months. Then you gotta hound them over and over. Ruins friendships. That's why I stopped lending money to friends. It changes the relationship.

    I love this conversation. I was just having it with my cousin. Family always feel entitled. Tjis is why a lot of people go broke. Warren Buffet makes his children have a business plan, and it has to be a business that helps people. Ocho is so right, we have no structure.

    I tell people no all the time. My grandfather taught me that. I asked to borrow $500 one time and he gave it to me to avoid bad blood between us. I never asked him for money again and I paid him back. Now that I'm older and successful... I understand.

    They need to go back an watch the undisputed where mayweather was helping a lot of his family and he helped them all do their business ideas and he told them this is it you stand on your own now I’ll help you as best I can but now you do the rest on your own I thought that was in itself the best way to do it because it eliminates a person being bitter or constantly coming back for handouts

    I said the same thing to my son when he graduated from high school. I no longer owe him anything else. If I choose to help him is because I want to. He graduated from college and God has blessed him with a good job. Thank you Lord!!!
