Love your content Dr Hashmi and Michele, HUGE respect and admiration, so I do apologize for having to correct you on this one incorrect point you made: @29:16, no, absolutely not, everything aside, watching your new content! Thank you for all the help especially anything related to ADPKD. 🙏🙏🙏 Your content helped me to design my ADPKD-unfriendly lifestyle and to get in touch with researchers and soon to take part is trials.
Dr Hashmi, as always, you present fantastic and useful information. I'm a stage 2 CKD or was...going for my annual physical next month. In any case as to Xylitol. I use a toothpaste called Squigle..I think it says it has 32% Xylitol. I have read several studies that claim for teeth it's beneficial as to plaque esp and possibly remineralization. Saw, Xylitol reduces plaque formation and bacterial adherence in a real study with data...NIH I think.. Studies or not, since I started using that toothpaste I have ZERO tartar esp on the backsides of the lower front teeth, where I always ALWAYS had a buildup of tarter soon after a cleaning. My question is, since I don't swallow the toothpaste, perhaps a tad of residual toothpaste remians...do you think it's going to get into the blood in any way? I know as you presented the studies and seems a bit mixed. Funny my normal platelet count is almost always 2-3 numbers RIGHT below normal...Ok sorry for the novel.😃 Thanks for all you do!
Do you have any recommendations of getting insurance or medicare to pay for a dietition? I got one from stanford in Pleasanton, CA and they were recommending advice from the 80's like white eat rice and white bread.
There doesn't seem to be much info accessible, on how best to diet and supplement if one were to choose neither transplant nor dialysis. My wife has just slipped below 20, was at 22 for over a year. Never smoker, no alcohol, height-weight proportionate, our diet is focused on plant based with a slice of Swiss cheese, and a dollop of organic yogurt daily. Just recently moved it to low fat or oatmilk yogurt. Can't seem to get solid info on how best to prevent eGFR further dropping. We walk 7500 steps/day. Low protein? .low fats vs added "healthy" fats? I know there are no magic fixes, but at one time her nephrologist was pushing for 80g protein/day.🫤
