An excerpt from Haydn's Sonata in E-flat that Lestat played in "Interview With The Vampire"
It's usually played faster, but Lestat played it slowly in the movie:
"Not quite furioso... moderato... cantabile, perhaps...Claudia...you've been...a very...very...naughty little girl..."
I don't know why but every time I hear Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata', I'm reminded of Lestat too!
It's the other way around. Moonlight Sonata was written first.
Albert Lugo Haydn wrote this sonata 1789/90; Beethoven’s Moonlight sonata was 1801. Your comment is neither accurate nor helpful.
@@elaineblackhurst1509 and with that, I will forever hate you.

Agreed
This gives me the chills... I swear, they did an AMAZING job getting the feeling of the 17 and 1800's in Interview With The Vampire..
The words "putrid life of the Mississippi" echo in my ears when I hear this piece of music.
"Claudia; you have been a very, very naughty little girl"
Ask the alligator..his blood helped..
Kenneth Hill then on the diet of the snakes, toads, and all the putrid life.....of the Mississippi
Act Of Autumn Lestat became something like himself again...
Claudia, you've been a very, very naughty little girl
Becuz the sm person
And all of the putrid life of the Mississippi.
It is really a unique music and it is an excellent performance 2023
Thank you so much! 🖤
*Listen Louis. There's life in these old hands still. Not quite Furioso. Moderato? Cantabile, perhaps.*
How can it be...?

One of my favorite movies, and one of my favorite scenes...I will learn to play piano one day, even if it kills me lol
+CreepYourSmile This was my childhood movie, I kinda know the script by heart lol. I've been playing the piano for a year, and I love Lestat's Sonata. :) You should learn the piano, it's really therapeutic and if you're angry you can create something rich with emotion - even if that means just bashing some keys lmao
BexxyBue
lol Oh yes :) Playing guitar is my therapy, though its not quite the same as playing piano. The sound can be very soothing/creepy, just like playing a cello, or the like. There are just certain sounds that I cannot achieve with my guitar.
I will learn, eventually. It just takes time :)
CreepYourSmile Well, good luck. ^^
If you’re going to quote the movie to this extent then at least get the quotes right lol points to anyone who can tell me where he missed a few words
Is there anymore piano pieces that sound like this? The hauntingly, dark melodic theme?
yeah, I agree, are there?
Moonlight Sonata, definitely.
Terry Howard Ian Moone Yumi Sagara Have you listened to Rachmaninoff's Elegie Op. 3, No. 1 ? I think you will enjoy it greatly if you enjoy this style of music. There is a recording of Rachmaninoff himself performing it available, on an album called "A Window in Time" which I think is the best one to listen to (obviously)
Pretty much everything by Chopin.
Alex Chmiel I love Chop-Chop!!
Vc toca a alma ❤, simplesmente perfeito!
I could listen to this all night. Somewhat Eerie, but, at the same time, relaxing.
Bravisimo! Encore! Encore!
Thank you for this...

Is it possible to get the sheet music for this as I've seen many different versions of the song with different notes, but this version seems closest to how it's meant to be played...and you play it amazingly by the way
Thank you! Here is a link to the sheet music imslp.org/wiki/Keyboard_Sonata_in_E-flat_major,_Hob.XVI:49_%28Haydn,_Joseph%29
I like the third complete score offered, edited by louis kohler, published by C.F. Peteres. If you open that PDF, the excerpt can be found on page 9 (which is page 33 if referring to the page numbers on the score, in the upper corner). Hope that helps!

hey can you like, tab this? like just the part that you played in the video. if not can you tell me where to find just the section you play?
I could have sworn that I heard Lestat play Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata in the movie but I just rewatched it and I didn't hear it in the entire movie. Mandela effect?
It was Beethovens Moonlight Sonata that was played in the film, but this peice by Hayden sounds remarkably similar
Moonlight sonata is very similar, but it was the middle of the Haydn sonata in the film when lestat returns 😊 also earlier at a faster tempo
la amo me toca el alma
you should do a tutorial, this is great!
Don't you love it when you hit those keys hard and you can feel it in your legs? :)
I followed the link and gave my info but did not get the music sheet?...

what is the name is the song
Piano Sonata No. 59 in E-flat by Haydn
Thank you some much
Do you have the sheet music for this or know where I could get it?
You can get the sheet music for free on www.imslp.org, just search for Haydn Sonata No. 49 in E flat Major. This is an excerpt from that sonata, so you might have to search through the entire piece to find this particular part. If you have trouble finding the exact place in the score, send me a message and I'll try to give you a page number.
conmon88 I didn`t find the sheet. Could you help me?

"not quite furioso, moderato, cantible perhaps?"
Claudia... you've been a very very naughty little girl
Ha! Yes, she has.
I'LL PUT YOU IN YOUR COFFIN !
You are fantastic. Your playing and performance is 100% Lestat material. Captivating and absolutely breathtaking. I'm downloading this as soon as possible. Keep up the fantastic work.
Thank you so much!
You have excellent technique and that piano is beautiful, superb playing.
Listen, Louis. There’s life in these old hands still. Not quite furioso. Moderato cantabile, perhaps…
I dont know how the fuck you figured out what he says during this part,.....ive tried for years to figure it out. if your got the rest you better damn well publish it,..haha
5664788 dude read the book. Or look up the script
5664788 or just turn on the bluray/dvd subtitles
I don't think this speech was in the book.
There was another vampire and it was all just fighting and burning from the off, if I mind right.
@@Trowblood I'm 99% sure it's in the movie as well
Just stunning, I absolutely love this piece. Interview With The Vampire is one of my favorite movies and finding this brings me sheer joy. Thank you ❤️

Lestat: Listen, Louis. There's life in these old hands still. Not quite Furioso. Moderato? Cantabile, perhaps. Claudia: How can it be? Lestat: Ask the alligator. His blood helped. Then on a diet of the blood of snakes, toads, and all the putrid life of the Mississippi, slowly, Lestat became something like himself again. Claudia... You've been a very, very, naughty little girl.
Good night sweet prince, may flights of devils win you to your rest.
And I realized that I’d tolerated him this long because of self-doubt.
Oh hey Louis
Louie louie still whining. I've had to listen to this for centuries.
You poor bastard
I'd like to have this played at my funeral and I like it to take place at night. Have you ever seen a funeral take place at night? I didn't think so..
whylordwhy yeptheysuck or just pay a look alike of you to put on zombie make up and play this at night in your house after you die XD
A night funeral that's actually super creative
hmmm very very original nice thought my friend I shall entertain it till my time comes.
Yes. Aunt Queen's funeral was at night.
Now.....FEAST.
There's still life in this old hands louis 🖐🏻
its not enough without lestat speech about diet of snakes and toads
Lol
And all the putrid life of the Mississippi.
It is NOT called ''Lestats sonata'' , it is Joseph Haydn Piano Sonata No. 59 In E-flat Major (second movement ADAGIO CANTABILE) used in movie ''interview with vampire''
alexxxxxx23 👍
Respectably, Moonlight Sonata was known as "piano sonata No. 14 in C # Minor". Moonlight sonata is what it became
You do realize as someone who's clearly a skilled pianist (with sheet music in front of him mind you), he probably not only knows the name of the piece, but it's probably on his sheet music as well.
He used Lestat's Sonata as the title because, as you say, it was used in Interview With The Vampire. Which is a popular movie, and this is from an exciting part of the movie, meaning people will search for it.
I never knew the name of this piece, so when I looked up "lastat piano" this video came up. It's not the actual name of the song, but without those keywords or the title, I never would have found it. 👍
alexxxxxx23 Stick to the official Hoboken catalogue numbers; anything else is confusing. This is the Sonata in E flat Hob. XVI:49.
Lestat would be very proud! Very beautiful music!
I like how all the top comments basically says the same line.
I love you still, that's the torment of it. Lestat I never loved. But you! The measure of my hatred is that love. They are the same! Do you know now how much I hate you!
What you said is so beautiful !
@@Femaly-Malge In the book, Claudia says this to Louis.
@@kiamaria331 I'm French so I didn't know that. I read the book only in french ! 😅But thank you to told me !
"Ask the alligator. His blood helped. Then on the diet of the blood of snakes, toads, and all the putrid life of the Mississippi, slowly, Lestat became something like himself again."
Yours is the best version of this sonata... well played! :)
I had half ass watched the movie some time ago and never caught this piece of music until my buddy mentioned it to me tonight. This is a GORGEOUS piece and you played it BEAUTIFULLY! Very well done!
I started working on this piece tonight and I hope it turns out as wonderful as your play of it!
0:17 kills me 😊
played wonderful
Your playing brilliant but if you want to be more well " lestat " like then I advice you to play it more hard and angrily because he WAS angry.
Well, Lestat did just crawl back from the swamp and hadn't had a good meal in ages so the guy is a bit tired, fingers stiff and slow...😅
Um, your link to the free audio file for Lestat's Sonata does not have the audio file, just the sheet music. "To download the audio for free, go to fburls.com/15-G2DaVRKj"
Gary Driscoll my Fanbridge link went down, I’m working on fixing it now! But if you’d like the audio, send an email to connorchee@connorchee.com and I will email it to you directly! Sorry and thank you! 🙏
Does anyone know the piece that is played in the scene where Claudia and Lestat are playing for the family? The line is something like “can you play something on more of a somber note” and then the piano piece is played
Man I've wanted to know that for ages
12th sonata of padre Antonio soler ! I think 🤔
Claudia, you've been a very, very bad girl...
Claudia, you've been a very, very naughty little girl*
Listen, Louis...theres life in these old hands, still...
Biggles McBumflap Not quite Furioso. Moderato? Cantabile, perhaps.
Bradley Greaves Ask the alligator. His blood helped.
Then on a diet of the blood of snakes, toads, and all the putrid life of the Mississippi, slowly, Lestat became something like himself again!
Pretty sure this is Joseph Hayden. It's actually a very bright and happy song.... this part is a very small sequence toward the middle of the piece.
Yes you are correct! It’s in the video description 😊 thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for playing this! I've always loved this tune but was never able to find it
Everytime i watch the movie and it goes the piano parts, i always love that part and always wanted to know what is was! Finally i found it! 😍😍😍😍😍
I love this. Is there somewhere I can download it? The link isn't working.
Eric Cotecson thanks so much! Email me at connorchee@connorchee.com
Claudia, you' ve been a VERY bad little girl...
Do you know by any chance whether it's the same sonata (and movement) that's executed at a much faster tempo some time before, by Lestat again, at a moment when he's quite angry and quite fed up with Louis and Claudia, not so long before the others get rid of him (I saw the film many years ago, so not so sure now)?
Noël Tamère yes from what I remember he plays another excerpt from the same Haydn sonata at a faster tempo before he's the swamp thing lol. I'm pretty sure the same movement too.
Ohhh. I just busted. Multiple times over and over and over. Oh god.
Maybe I should start an OnlyFans for my piano content.
Excellent Job! I also get this one confused with Moonlight Sonata as well! Similar but not the same.
When Claudia is playing for the aristocracy and Lestat says "something more sombre..." what is that that she starts to play?
This is a beautiful piece. Of music i hope to learn to play this. One day:-)!!!
Best of luck! Be sure to upload a video once you learn it :)
How can I get the sheet music? I joined your mailing list but the download won't work
Clive, Steve and Paul so sorry, you can go to my website instead. It is under “free sheets” www.connorchee.com
@@ConnorChee Thank you sir!
Hey, what's the somber song Claudia plays also? Sounds pretty sweet
Heavenly. Thank You!
+Celina Sloan thanks for listening!
Who originally played this? Was this made up for the movie?
It is an excerpt from a Haydn sonata. Lestat played it in the movie, quite slowly, due to his poor condition. Some have come to enjoy this short excerpt played at this very slow tempo, and dubbed it “Lestat’s Sonata”
