@@LifeByTheSeason me too, but I'm already learning icelandic for the past year because I also love Sigur Rós and what to understand the lyrics without Google translater
The Canticle is very nice, but it's interesting to me that S & G don't include it in the Central Park concert; it's just Art and Paul singing the main song. Now, in fact, I prefer the song without the Canticle.
This is one of my favourite songs of all time, and I grew up with the Simon and Garfunkel rendition, and I must say this gave me chills. Just makes me close my eyes and sway in my place. Thank you, you guys are awesome.
My jaw dropped and I watched the entire video in awe. This is.....just the most beautiful rendition of the song I've ever heard. New favourite music group
Wait, this is the version that taught me the song Scarborough Fair in the first place! My parents used to play this in the car on our way to holidays, and I've never been able to find it again! The train station hymn video brought me to this and I immediatly felt like I recognised it!!! I've never found a better version of Scarborough Fair, and I'm so glad I finally found it, thank you so much for making this beautiful (to me nostalgic) version..
oh, I so hoped this would be the Simon & Garfunkel's remake with Canticle. I can't even listen to the original version after I've heard that perfection. And Arstidir? Come on, who can do it better. Awesome, thanks!
Definitely my favourite version of this song. Only criticism: I know this is based on Simon & Garfunkel, but if they really want to hit the spot for authenticity, it's pronounced "Scar-burr-uhh", not "Scar-boro" which is an American mispronunciation. :P
That's because it is. They even added parts of "Canticle" into it like that version. Personally, I think it is a lovely cover of an awesome arrangement!
As I am sure Arstithir are accustomed to correcting people's bad Icelandic pronunciation, I feel I have to point out that "Scarborough" is pronounced Skar-burr-uhh, not Skar-boro, which is an American mispronunciation they've clearly picked up from Simon & Garfunkel. Great performance though.
Hopefully the last. Old hymns (and some new as well) have fantastic melodies and vocal setups and the art to fully encompass that genre in skill and passion I find amazing. Even without believing in any deity, I still get goosebumps and find it fully understandable how the masses would get religious just by listening to well-trained choirs of monks and nuns singing these in the big and daunting cathedrals of old.
愛YUNGxGAARA愛 Hi Artsidir do a concert in the same church every year or so it seems. It's like a regular performance at Christmas. In Iceland where they're from. I don't know if they're religious but they have a feeling of spirituality about them. Beautiful band.
The hymn in the train station brought me here, and I've got a new language to try and learn!
Me too!
English? ;) After 2 years have you learned your language?
Same here. Hadn't seen this clip before. Where is the keyboardist?

I love that they didn't forget the Canticle in the background. One of the best parts.

@@cunjoz wow, thank you! Very beautiful cover as well🥰
Your parents sound like they have an amazing taste in music!
@@mrschimmel Even after 27 years, I can still proudly confirm they do 😉
This is a mystical song: From the first notes on you hear the Middle Ages. The song directly reaches the soul.
Yup. Found a new band to listen to. Such a pure sound.
I love this band so much. They speak to me in a way that most music doesn't. I'm happy to see true musical talent still alive.
I just discovered this group via the train station acapella performance. Beautiful, elegant, precisely played. You have a new fan!

Beautiful---would like to hear them cover Sting's "Fields of Gold".
omg 😭
Yes!
Most definitely!
I've just discovered your music and have to say that the blend of your voices is a thing of pure beauty.
This is a traditional English folk song. It was not written by Simon and Garfunkel (although they covered it in 1966).
So beautiful! Would be lovely to have Celia Pavey singing with them. 😍
Mix of them two together? My god that would be absolutely incredible
Well... that has to be the nicest rendition of that song I've heard yet !
Absolutely Beautiful !!
Thanks Guys
Engu að síður þá eru þetta snillingar :) ...Takk fyrir árstíðir .
love it, only its not a simon and Garfunkel song, its a traditional Yorkshire Ballad from the middle ages
It's Simon & Garfunkle's arrangement of the ballad.
wyndwoman indeed
Paul Simon got most of his arrangement from a singer named Martin Carthy.
Interesting! I didnt know that! Do you know where I can find the original? 🌸
Beautiful ...such a talented group ... Heard a few pieces now ... The bass is wonderful .
I am shaken by the beauty of this.
Große Klasse . 👍👍👍
these guys make me want to play again,,,,,,,
Do it! I don't know you, but deep down you have been itching to play for a long time. Do it.
Thank you!
It's such a beautiful rendition i keep coming back here on and off to listen to it. It's my favourite ❤
Found a new favourite sound
Very soft singing and instrumentation
I wish I could "like" this over and over. You do such a breath-taking cover...the best I've ever heard.

Now that is one gorgeous version.
This is so magnificent
Beautiful
I was so happy I heard this live @ your show in Sneek. Thnx very much, it made my Christmas this year very special 😀
Beautiful, Gave me Goosebumps, That’s a Good Thing!
I like this group a lot. Since we are listening to an English folk song, I must recommend Steeleye Span!
Loved their rendition of canticle
Nice work, buddies! Cheers, from Brazil!
Beautiful!!!!
So wonderful.... I love it
Som perfeito.
Conseguiram faze-lo tão bem quanto ao Simon and Garfunkel
Beautiful.
Wonderful !!
Beautiful ... Heart breaking ...
very very well done, amazing attention to detail. this is glorious.
So so good
Sublime
Amazing!
Marvellous !
Simply awesome.
bara svo það sé á hreinu þá er þetta gamalt þjóðlag frá Bretlandi .., og er ekki úr lagasmiðju snillinganna Simon og Garfunkel ....
Utterly delightful video!
Bello, hermoso, perfecto, unico, fascinante .... I LOVE YOU FOR DOING THIS KIND OF MUSIC. IT IS LIKE THIS IS TALKING TO MY SOUL. THANKS.

Beautiful💜✌️
wow, beautiful!!!
Love it!
amazing
Great harmony and attention to blending. I would watch your vowels though- especially the 'A' in "sage" and the 'Y' in "thyme". Keep it up!
parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Where is the pianist? I can hear the piano but cannot see it :)
Excellent sound ... see Kathys song cover Albert Croak on youtube .
The piano is to the left in the corner
geggjað.. hvenær eru svo næstu tónleikar? við mæðgur verðum að sjá þetta live
buzzzzzzzzzzzing in the backround
Same here, same route, same opinión.
I need this in higher quality. Someone help?
It doesn't exist. Enjoy what you've got.
Who named their kids after herbs?
Sounds ALOT like Simon and Garfunkels
That's because it is. They even added parts of "Canticle" into it like that version. Personally, I think it is a lovely cover of an awesome arrangement!
there extremely great at it they deserve more fame most definitely
Traditional from the early middle ages;-)
where is the piano?
Fuck, this is good!!!
Some Hobbit tier shit right here!
Era um anão ali?
Way better than S&G version of this traditional British ballad, which actually S&G made into utter nonsense by deleting a couple of verses.

are these guys "christian" or "religious"? or do they just have an appreciation for hymns and old religious tunes
Scarborough Fair is an old English Folksong, not remotely religious.
I was particularly talking about heyr himna smidur, but in this video they're also playing in what I assume is a church?
