I don't think she had a bad attitude or anything. She's just super straightforward and probably not socially skilled (she lacks some self-awareness). She didn't mean to be annoying. I think she's too honest, idealistic, vocally expressive for everyone else to relate/take her seriously.
This song reminds me a lot of the loss of my mother last year due to cancer, sung from her perspective in her dying days. Like you, my mother was interpreted to have a somewhat prickly personality. Even though this affected my relationship with her, I always sensed she had a soft heart. Like you, she had written some poetry / prose that showed me just how sensitive and insightful she really is. I think she just struggled to express herself in person. I wished I could have seen my mother's loving side more. But this is helping me come to terms with losing her, and is helping me understand her much better. Thank you so much for this gift. It's as if she's communicating with me from beyond.
Your mother loves you. Nobody can take that away- she will always be your mother. No mother can forget her children. You will reunite when it's time for that. If you can feed homeless people in her name/ something- it WILL benefit her up there. I don't know what your belief system is but within you she LIVES my dear. When was the last time you visited her grave? - when you talk to her wherever you are- she can hear you. Grief is different for everybody- there is no right or wrong way -
