This is a great example of how unnoticeable and protective DID is meant to be. Even knowing that they're a system, knowing any given day the person working is different and will have different habits, their employer still says they rarely notice a difference between them on the surface level just by observing them work. It's truly an amazing aspect of DID, that it makes sure the body can exist without being suspected of being anything less than singular, all while constantly dealing with the internal management of all the alters and their varying memories, trauma,, and PTSD. Our brains are incredible.

I'm not an employer and I don't have DID, but I do have autism and dyslexia. And something I would like to give employers as a tip is to trust the employee. If a not typical applicant says that they can do something, don't discard that based on the name of there condition/ disability. I have lived my life having the conditions that I have, I know my abilities better than that internet page you found :)

I have autism too and my boss' son, the man who accepted me for the job, has said that they are considering putting it on their site to show that someone with autism can do a normal job.

Not only is this awesome to make other systems confident in settling into the work place BUT ALSO faaaantastiiiiiiccc for employers!! Becky is so clear about what really matters and that’s if the job gets done properly. And that’s the only thing that should matter! Thanks to the Entropy System and Becky for making this invaluable video!

I wish my boss was as understanding regarding my mental health issues like depression and anxiety. There is so much stigma against it here in Ireland in workplaces. Whenever I need a day off due to it I blame my IBS.

I have chrondomalatia in both of my knees (surgery on one) and a few times I tried to tell my ex boss that I couldn't stand much longer and she just laughed it off and wouldn't believe me. I so just wanted it to flare up a little more and not be able to walk like SEE WHAT YOU DID lol
I love the idea of it her seeing you all a “twins” in a way. I am a twin so I do get confused with them but we are totally different and are our own ppl just like the alters in my system.

to me, and it seems like you take it pretty much the same way, your boss not always noticing if someone's out for a short amount of time is a good thing, cause that means they're not constantly observing you.
The world needs more employers like this. I wish all employers could be supportive.

used to work in a bookstore (looks similar to this place) and my boss there was seriously the best person ever and so were my coworkers. It was just such an amazing vibe. Bookstores have the best people

Hey Wyn, got a question for your question series, it seems as if there’s a specific group that works at the store, has a little or someone that doesn’t have general knowledge to work come out during your shift? How do you guys handle that?

Just to comment also, my DID does disable me currently, so I know that you don’t want to assume people are “incapable” in a negative way, but it is important to note that this disorder can make it hard to work, either because trauma triggers are so present or littles show up so much that they aren’t able to be consistent with driving to work or being on scheduled shifts. I’m so glad that you can do that and make it work!! It seems like a great environment for you! 💗
This is so great and encouraging. I have complex-PTSD but was only recently diagnosed. I worry about working and feel like no boss will ever understand
Before diagnosis, I had a boss who understood. She saw me get triggered and absolutely, no judgement, got me off the line and away from the trigger, and comforted me until I could collect myself.
I miss her.

I feel so anxious just from watching this...I don't know how you do it. Just thinking about working at a job again freaks me out. I wish it didn't, but without going into too much detail I was assaulted when I was 15 by the manager at my first job and ever since, work environments have always felt abusive, hostile, and triggering. I'm glad you found a place you feel comfortable and safe to work at though. Any advice for those with workplace trauma histories on how to be able to work again without being triggered?
Look for workplaces that are different enough from the things that trigger you that you have an easier time managing the things that do. for me the most important thing in managing triggers is distinguishing between actual warning signs of danger and my triggers, because that's what triggers are trying to do they're just not always great at it. Its easier to calm my stress if i know that I am watching for danger, and there's been no sign of it aside from being triggered by something innocuous. good luck!
@@summer6100 Thanks. All work seems the same to me since the power dynamic is always there. I don't trust anyone in positions of power over me because they have always used that power against me. Anyway, I'm in therapy and hope it gets better someday, but for now work isn't really possible.
Charlotte H. Holmes Have you looked into possibly working from home? I know a couple people who work for call center-type places and they just have to have a quiet room where they can have a phone and computer to answer the calls. There’s also a wide variety in work environments outside your home too, so you might find something different enough that it wouldn’t trigger you. Some of my friends have been nannies or house keepers, worked on farms taking care of the animals, tutored people over Skype, made custom artwork and illustrations, or done dog-grooming house calls.
@@lilliematthews7922 I have severe phone anxiety...it's something I've had my whole life so I usually text or use email. Also the abuse that is thrown at you at any job where you get/make calls would not be good for me. I know a lot of people who have had these jobs without trauma or mental illness of any kind and have quit within weeks due to the high stress and abuse thrown their way. I have tried for typing, writing, and transcription type jobs but haven't been able to get any because they are the jobs everyone wants...many getting them solely for extra money, because it's hard to make a living wage at it...it's more of a supplement wage. Basically I relate a lot to Lisbeth Salander and don't feel comfortable around others at all. If only I lived in a Hollywood movie where I conveniently had the ingrained skills to do an undercover job for companies on a freelance basis...but this is real life and people like me just don't end up working at all because most jobs require social interaction. Also when I'm stressed my dissociation is so bad I go catatonic. I'm in therapy but so far it hasn't helped much.
@@lilliematthews7922 The farm job would be ok possibly but where in the world do you find jobs like that? I can't move to find a job, but there are some small family farms around I guess...just never heard of them outsourcing farm work to non-family...though that would be cool if they did. I also thought about dog walking but it doesn't seem to be much of a thing around here. If I was closer to the city that would probably be ok too if I could get the work.

Recently they changed the boss in my department because he treated everybody like garbage. The new one is polite and listen to we have to say.
I feel sad for everybody who have to deal with terrible bosses. It's good thing that she understands that your condition don't affect your capability.

Honestly loved everything about this. You're boss is amazing. The fact her only wish was that youd wear like a name tag so shed be able to call you by your correct name that day is so sweet. You might want to wear the different like socks or pins so that way it's not a name tag but she will know who. I do love how over and over she was just like as long as you can still do the job that's my main priority as an employer. Your work environment seems incredibly welcoming and comforting I am glad you(collective you) have that in your life.

Becky is a very open person and the System is very functional and this permits efficiency and a happy boss. Bosses are accepting of non-disruptive employees who are a plus for the company. And Wyn and friends are mature, good natured, intelligent, hard-working, etc. People with mental issues that might affect the workplace have it harder. So good for the boss and also for the way that Entrophy has managed to work things out among themselves.

Some people with DID are disabled. This is a very functional example. Though I appriciate that this channel shows that a person with DID can lead a normal life, that is not representative of all cases.

Your boss is amazing. How does she feel about taking mental health days as sick days? I feel like a lot of employers don't accept it as a valid reason.
Thank you for this video! It's so great that you have a boss that is accepting of you and your dodecatuplets, and so great that she was willing to talk about it and give advice to other employers! We have told a few trusted friends at our previous jobs, but no one at our current job, and none of our bosses. We are afraid that people would either fear us, pity us, and/or shun us. Also, there is unfortunately a LOT of gossip that goes on in our current workplace. I wish I knew how my boss would react if I told him. He seems to be a pretty laid back and friendly guy, but I don't know how he feels about mental illness. Thank you so much, Daniel and Becky, for making this video to help people understand that DID is not something that automatically makes a person unfit as an employee. Bravo for your ability to work and the open minded boss. We've lost many, many jobs / job trials, apprenticeships, dropped out at Schools & Universities, too. 20 years of adulthood as a DI, and I don't apply for any jobs anymore though the body is still young enough. I don't dare anymore, and nobody would hire somebody with such an irregular CV and health issues. It's devastating, coz we're full of qualities and capacities, experiences, etc, some of us even speak 5 languages fluently. But of course, being RELIABLE (=always appear at work, know work-related stuff all the time, adult behavior all the time, etc) isn't one of them.
The last job was a nice opportunity because it was in a tiny shop near to our appartment, we worked alone, not 100%, as it suits the best. But then the boss decided for a second employee. This new dude didn't care about our need to do some things in our very own way in order to make it work, and didn't get it at all when we explained our condition and issues. We lost the job soon after.
That is a very big game shop and wow what a great work environment!
