I went to a sod farm last week and the owner mentioned that the only way to kill broadleaf plants (clover) is after they’ve surfaced. He said there is no way to kill clover while it’s dormant so I’ll be using Tenacity once the ground temp breaks 50
I find that Speedzone or products like that work better on clover than Tenacity. Always use Tenacity as a pre-emergent for even spot spraying, but you'll need multiple applications of Tenacity to be effective on clover in my experience. Tenacity decimates summer annuals like crabgrass so it's great for killing the summer devil.
I’ve had great results with SpeedZone Southern as my go to weed killer. It doesn’t kill crabgrass though. Everything else, it does a great job on. It torches goathead weeds. I tried Tenacity this winter on crabgrass, and it hardly made any difference.
@Amanda Davis thanks for the comment. As far as Tenacity goes, per the label, it should only be sprayed between 55 and 85 degrees, with 65 and above being the most effective. Tenacity won't work if the plant isn't growing, so for summer weeds like Crabgrass, the weed first starts germinating at 55 degrees. I'd try again in the spring, and I always do a 2nd application to make sure I got everything around late spring/early summer. Best of luck.
I had no idea about nitrogen and covers. I have it in a few spots... thank you I use tenacity this is my 2nd year after last year overhaul... my lawn is beautiful and this chick me did it by myself. Any earth-friendly alternatives? At least one ingredient Dicamba vaporizes and is known to drift and settle on nearby trees and gardens (depending on wind speed and outside temperatures).
4 leaf clovers were a way parents kept their kids busy... send them out to the yard to look for a lucky 4 leaf clover while you watch the game or work on the car or take a nap or open up some beer or wine
No respirator? What does inhalation of that stuff do? Not to mention other PPE…

How do you kill Poa Annua? It’s rearing it’s ugly head in my backyard.
Fellow OK boy here 🤘🏻🤘🏻. MSMA is the best if you can find it. But once it warms up, the heat kills it. Some fert with nitrogen helps too.
I put down Scotts Triple Action last week. I see Dandilions are dying, do they whither completely over time or do I need to still pull them up?
Just bought a 1 acre lot and built a bunch of vegetable gardens. Tried using Espoma because it's totally organic and garden safe but it's a preemergent and really not cutting it. Do you have any ideas what I can do that is not going to poison my gardens?
Great video. I've used the stuff in the blue container before, works well (I may or may not have had to "import" it to NY via family...). Any plans on doing a video on Poa? Or have you? Poa Annua is terrible this year on Long Island!
