RG Strike Freedom was my first model kit ever. I was just getting into Gundam 5 years ago and when I saw this, I wanted it cause it looked really awesome. In one day I built the entire thing...with no knowledge of building models. It looked terrible, but I loved it. I saw tutorials on how to properly build a kit, went back, disassembled it, cleaned it up, then put it all back together. It still looks amazing after 5 years, but man that ERG... This kit is probably why I love RG's so much and why it's my main go to. I absolutely love the RG line.
Most reviewers forget about this. I hv the clear color version, and the bigger navy flaps are so tight I couldnt open them without breaking something. Did you have the same problem?
This guy has been in my backlog forever. I built the RG Strike and that thing falls apart when I look at it, so I've been terrified of building this one, even though it's gorgeous.
Built it, and lemme tell you something m8, you gotta be careful after you finished building it. Those two railguns on his waist? It’s so weak and brittle. One wrong move, and it will fall off and you would have to glue it there permanently. It’s also super back heavy and an absolute pain to pose in a ground position, god why didn’t they include a stand in the kit. So yeah, just be prepared.
The HGCE strike freedom was my first of many kits, so this suit has always held a special place in my heart. If I had the money I would buy this one in a heartbeat, even if it does start to get loose over time.
I honestly liked this kit. Its detailing was incredible. The weakness is 1) shoulder is easilt popped off (i thicken the joint with marker), 2) fragile waist (easily changed in orientation when slightly finger pushed), 3) heavy backpack. And also lamee gold. I painted it with Gundam Marker Gold GM05. I accidentally broke the joint between left foot and heel. And also, the beam shield is horrible compared to HGCE infinite justice (but considering its age, i think it's okay). A small difference compared to its anime-rendered, its beam cannon mounted on its abdomen, is slightly upward to the chest, which in anime, it's on lower near abdomen
I had to super glue the action base adaptor on this little guy because of how often it fell. This was also my first RG so I did not expect it to be so fragile
I feel i got lucky with mine, it has hold up decent, nothing broke, the action base adapter holds well and it’s overall one of my favorite gunpla kits.
I actually got this as my introduction into gunplay. And it was a good pacer into what to expect in building and experimenting with posing balance. Sad my second was the 1/100 full armor Unicorn gundam. That thing almost killed me.

This is the kit that started it all for me. The beginning that started the hours of building and raging at stickers, spiraling down the slippery slope of the plastic crack that is called Gunpla.
Thanks to this review right here I hopefully took some preparatory steps while building this to forestall the early RG syndrome. I painted the gold ABS with a gold Gundam marker and the improvement was noticeable immediately in the build of the inner frame. Hopefully that and the matte clear base coat will keep the joints a bit tighter longer but the ankles are definitely too weak to support that backpack. Because of this, I also made sure I had a display stand for it. But on display in the air it looks incredible, particularly when the wings and dragoons are fully expanded. Mecha only opened the wings themselves without popping them open to reveal the gold inner frame. Railguns swivel behind the legs, as well. All-in-all a very detailed kit for such a compact size. I particularly like that with the wings fully expanded it is star of the show but closed and folded back it is [mostly] nondescript. Lots of hands and gimmicks and a bit cheaper than the MGEX grail.
I've a little question. I'm interested on learning about joint tightning, so can you make a video where you shows your techniques on joint and old kits "restoration"?
Those gold hands remind me of God Gundam's Godfinger. AND that pose where you had Strike Freedom doing a dab makes it seem even MORE like it. "Ikuzo, Shakunetsu...GODDOFINGAAAAAAAAA!!!"

And the connector pegs for the Xiphias 3 Railcannons, were destroyed, but thanks to resourcefulness- I managed to fix it using the peg-like protrutions on the RG Strike Freedom's Advanced MS Joint Frame in order for the Xiphias 3 Railcannons to be swiveled backwards in place of the beam rifles... Nevertheless the armor split gimmicks are epic- plus both rifles can extend out their barrels making them function as scoped beam shotgun and the other as beam magnum... Somehow worth having the RG Strike Freedom- I do expect a Real Grade Version 2.0 of these kits that came before RGs Unicorn, Sazabi, Nu, Hi- Nu and Force Impulse- hopefully they come out with a new pair of fixed holding hands rather than relying on the loose RG Advanced MS Frame Hands- and also the complete set of effect parts that goes with their respective units, rather than being sold as limited/ Premium Bandai Spirits Edition Add-ons
They also released the rg strike freedom wings of light "expansion set?" which came with light effect parts (no actual LED just the effect) and and action base with the mounting hardware for the dragoons, using it as a Christmas tree star :)
I gotta make a correction, the first RG that used a partially full innerframe was the RG exia, and the rg 00 raiser took things further with replacing the runners of the exia arms with new arms that you have to build with runner parts, thats why the RG 00 line was way more solid and argubly the best at that time, also i think the Rg stray used parrtially builded inner frame.
While RG Exia has less Advanced MS Joint Parts in its inner frame than say RG Wing Zero EW or other RGs of the same general time, in my experience, RG Exia suffers from these problems even worse than its contemporary RGs. RG Exia is the single least stable kit I own, and was floppy and loose literally immediately upon being built. It looks really great now that it's finished, but OOB with no modifications, Exia is pretty exemplary of everything wrong with early RGs.
for a sec i thought some plastic parts of this Strike Freedom had starry glitter on it. Which honestly would be a fun optional idea, similar to the starry glitter design in certain Gundam Build/Fighter kids
bought this a few months ago, had fun building it and it looks great on the shelf so even if it does develop early grade syndrome I've got no complaints.
I ended up repainting the gold parts whilst still on the runners, using automotive plastic primer and some different golds for the various parts. Doing this added the reinforcement needed for the joints. However I did have to file back the paint for the sliding mechanisms in the waist mount beam rifles. I didn’t touch the chrome yellow though. My second RG Build after 00 Quat, just to build it to reflect on my own childhood.
for a sec i thought some plastic parts of this Strike Freedom had starry glitter on it. Which honestly would be a fun optional idea, similar to the starry glitter design in certain Gundam Build/Fighter kids
Mine did a front flip off my desk as I was building it, so I had to glue some of the parts back together.
bought this a few months ago, had fun building it and it looks great on the shelf so even if it does develop early grade syndrome I've got no complaints.
I want to see a review of the RG MK II AEUG/Titans version. They're good RGs despite being an "early RG".
Astray and the 00 kits were also good
Mine held up super fine and the best representation in bandai model kit form. Hoping for an MG 2.0 tho. It's bound to happen.
That looked awesome as it was.
You gotta review strike freedom gundam hgce next .
I was actually looking for your review of RG Strike Freedom a few years back... hahahah
The detailing of RG strike freedom is absolutely amazing but HGCE Strike freedom holds up WAAY BETTER
Thank you for reviewing this kits. Nice review. Hope bandai will make mg strike freedom v 2.0
That dust makes the gundam look more realistic from the anime with the metallic gold
For anyone here planning to get this kit find a way to tighten the the inner frame before building it.
with this review I actually want to buy it now it looks so cool
Strike Freedom Gundam 2.0 MG 1/100 needs to be a reality man. Bandai need to make that or a ver. ka would be freakin' awesome!.
I liked building this one and since after I'm done building I pick a pose and never touch them again mine is still pretty firm and stable.
my friend you forgot all the wings gimmicks the navy blue opens and de light blue extends from the gold part
Fourth lmao, i have this kit and i wish I hadn't bought it... Looks great tho
Lol same, I could’ve bought the Moon gundam with that money...
@@RandomPerson-cm2wg i had it worse, i was 13 then and didnt know anything, i had the money for the rg nu gundam but i fsr decided to spend it on 2 old hgs and thus
@@gabesam1145 making the mistake of quantity over quality? I see XD
Let’s make this a contest of who made more mistakes in our hobby careers.
When I was new to gunpla, I bought the hg Sazabi thinking that was the rg.
@@RandomPerson-cm2wg i saved up for the rg unicorn, when i bought it i was like "hey what if i just bought the hg and another one, it looks the same anyways" i hate myself
I made the same fcking mistake twice lol
I was literally looking for mecha's review of this yesterday if he had one. Omfg
Good Morning bruv
Rg strike freedom was my first kit
Almost got this kit st one time, just for the fact that it had a shiny inner frame. And also because it was on sale and thought it would be a cool first RG. But I ended up ordering the RG Crossbone Gundam after watching Mecha Gaikotsu's video on the kit, and I have to say, I'm loving the crossbones a lot.
Are there any parts that needs to be glued?
@@stargazer._ nope
Glad to hear that
@@stargazer._ Glad I could help
Cuz some people said that you need to glue those two white pieces on the chest
Funny thing is, I just got this kit for my birthday
Heh, I got this kit for Christmas. I very much love how it looks. But dang tho, I didn’t know about the internal part of it.
i actually wanted one of these as a kid
The base adapter is actually amazing.
You have to slide it down his crotch to snap it in place and it's not going no where.
I made that mistake at first so i understand your impression
And it’s hard to believe that this video is already nine month old. Feel like he just came out four months, for me at least
I'm glad you haven't been crucified after the White Glint video.
I love the gimmick from some RG kit like this one
i think i wanna see another mecha-meltdown review, the white glint one was freaking hilarious
Please Mecha review your RG mark II!!!
