Great kit. I did the waterslides from delphi decals and it actually takes away from it. For the scuff marks it left a sort of gloss that kind of takes away from the bulit from a box of scraps feel to it.

Just got and built mine yesterday. My first Zaku (originally was planning for that to be Char's MG Zaku but I saw it at the store and had to have it) and it's one of my favorite kits now. As I'm typing this I'm building the White Devil kit from Requiem for Vengeance. God damn this chest piece is a lot of work but just like the Zaku it looks *so* damn good!
One of my favourite sites got some in stock yesterday. Normally I don't buy things online this close to Christmas, but I broke my rule and bought this kit and the Musasame Kai kits. Also the Musasame Kai has a Zeta Gundam feel to it, and I'm a sucker for the Zeta.
Watched the first three episodes of the new Netflix show (Requiem for Vengeance). Re-subbed after about 6 months without Netflix. Well worth the cost of a month to see how good this show is. I'll be binge watching it this weekend, after The Origin on Amazon/Crunchyroll last weekend. I'm way too old to snicker as I did to "butt flap is completely blocked." And... Thanks, Mecha. I bought my first three kits yesterday. One to get used to them, and different ones for each of my 27-year-old twins; HG RX-178 mk-2, HG ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom and RG Wing Gundam Zero EW, I'm going to have to hold off on new 40K Kill Team releases to discover the joys of building Gundam. Do you get a cut from sales using the link to HLJ you include? Wanted to know before I get more from other sources as I'd love to help if the link is an affiliate link.
I love both my RFV kits especially panel lined. I did omit my skirt decals and will try to etch out the design myself with a chisel. The shoulder sticker conformed to shape with a bit of body warmth and constant pressure. I did not use the pauldron spike sticker and instead used some gold and black gundam markers. Shaved the antennas and painted the cylinder joint that connects the shield to the shoulder because in the netflix show the joint looks body colored. Also silver on the hand knuckles and joints. Working on painting the heat hawk soon.
Hay Mecha, i have a couple of concerns with a conversation kit i purchased for the dark matter, exia. I was wondering if u could do a detailed step by step video of the build on the dark matter exia amazing MG if possible or recommend a video with step by step instructions of the build if possible. Plz and thank u for reaching out when u could. Lastly if u don't know any videos or can't do a video on the build could u recommend me someone who could? Thank u again much love keep it up with the amazing content. 😊
Can I ask if the Zimmerit decals on the feet are 3D, or if they’re just 2D printed detail? The reason I ask is I’ve seen a few companies do these cool 3D waterslides for 1/35 Zimmerit lately, but I’ve never seen anything like that in this scale.
On compound curves (even faceted ones like the right shoulder) I expect dry transfers would be pretty difficult to work with. It'd be interesting though to see how effecive dry transfers could be in applications like this, where a lot of what you're adding with the sticker sheet is weathering rather than markings.
What do you think of the hip articulation, when i reviewed it a bit ago i though it was way too tight and was wondering if that was just an issue with my copy?
I don't really like how he's been making separate build videos and reviews for the kits lately. Like you get all excited that there's a new review, and then you're disappointed because you have to wait for the actual review and it's just a build video. Am I the only one?
Not the only one I know other people have different wants but I just want a brief “It’s a good build but the only problem with the build is that the leg is loose. Not to bad though.” or something along those lines.
Considering that we're likely to only get HGs for Requiem For Vengeance, I'm not surprised that these kits are as good as they are. However, I want to know if these are a totally new mold or if it's (for example) reusing HG Origins kits. I think it would be nice if these came with rub transfer decals (at least) instead of these stickers. Or maybe Bandai could have the stickers perforated at the factory to the shape of the decal so they adhere better to the part.
I decided to leave it until January so all the kits released in 2024 have the same system, to keep the best kits of the year video simpler. The new system will start in 2025

It kind of depends on the exact vehicle and the location though. You can look at rivet diagrams for WW2 aircraft, or panel diagrams for an F-15 and see that there's tons of little details. It's just that those tend to end up muted both practices (p-51 polished rivets down IIRC for less drag), view distance, etc. A picture of the F-15 that shows the whole F-15 will be too far away to make those little access panels stand out, but the crew maintaining the bird should be able to see them quite well. The rear of a tank often has tons of panels and crap. Whereas on a Gundam model, panel lines end up quite exaggerated otherwise they basically don't exist - there's basically just one level of detail, and not more stuff that gets revealed when right up in your face versus at arms length. Which seems reasonable considering people without opti-visors and magnifying glasses are supposed to be build and detail the kits. So it's kind of a question between the details ending up exaggerated, or erased entirely for a gunpla. I think stuff like like MG Zaku 2 lilne does make the exterior too plain and uniform That being said, you are correct in that it does feel like some designs do love having panels in the middle of parts that seem like maybe they should just be the biggest slab of armor that their side can easily manufacture.
@Warmagon the panel diagrams of all the things you mentioned are generally older vehicles Talking the f22 or f35 for instance, there's a lot less compared to an f15, and when there are points of separation, they tend to be a lot less noticeable Though the complaint of mine is less focused on it not actually being realistic, but more than in attempts to have a design choice that looks tacky be excused as realistic, it isn't, if that makes senss.
