Lack of competition? What difference would another company added into the mix make? They’d just charge the same as the others. There needs to be regulations or a crown corp to stop this.

@@Digitalhunny What difference does it make if there's two companies or two hundred? They have someone to compete with, the prices(I'm told) should go down. If two companies are gonna offer the same price and get away with it.. why wouldn't the others? There's enough competition as it is, the prices should've already gone down because of it.

As someone from Sask you couldnt be more right. My family used bell for several years. When we attempted to upgrade our devices it turned out that any new plan would double or triple our cost... so we swapped to Sasktel a crown corp that provides telephone, internet, and television and got our devices upgraded and improved our plans for a total monthly fee increase of like 10 bucks compared to the original.

Had the exact same thing happen to me with Rogers. Spent 2 entire days on the phone with them trying to get them to honour what they offered me. I didn't want to get anyone in trouble but I had already cancelled my port in with bell because Rogers offered me a better deal to stay with them. I asked to speak with the manager and of course the manager isn't available. He will call me back I requested that he email me instead because I'm driving most of the time and if I'm not I'm with a customer. Of course the manager calls me instead 3-4 days later. Just to tell me that the plan I was offered doesn't exist! Long story short I emailed the manager back with all the details of the plan I was offered. I told him to check the recordings because the call was being recorded for QA and training purposes. He kept insisting that there's no such plan and offered me a plan that was even more expensive than the plan I was currently on. I asked him to please provide me to his immediate superior in the email. I eventually got the plan that I was offered originally. I literally lost 3 entire days of work and countless hours of going back and forth in emails though to get what I was originally offered. This process took almost 2 weeks to finally have my account set up properly. That's what you call fantastic customer service! 🤦

Folks, read your insurance renewal, 3% monthly instalment fee charged (home , car insurance )if it is pre-authorized payment from your bank by TD insurance, on top of that, CIBC is raising service fee...... so call insurance company and pay annual insurance by Credit Card might save you a lot of money.

Similar thing happened to me but I got them to honour the new deal and reverse the device fee I was charged for changing my plan before it was over. Felt like I was baited into switching plans so they could collect the $650 charge. Super shady though.

Bell are huge rats. You'll get unexplained fees on your bills, deals always change and they'll hang up on you when you call customer service.

A lot of issue is that these companies will outsource to call center where the same agent will answer call for different entities. Of course I am not sure if that what happened there but giving bell obsession for outsourcing I wouldn't be surprise.

I think every Bell Customer has a story like this. I was a Bell Customer for a number of years. I was given a package that included cable, internet, phone and long distance for 99.00 a month. I asked if it was subject to changes such as an introductory deal and after 3 months would be upped in price. I was told no. It was a permanent package and would only change if the base costs of internet or cable increased. Max increase would be 5 or 10 dollars. Two years later I got a bill for almost 300.00 for one month. I called and they said my package no longer existed and I was being charged for individual costs per subscription. They continued to harass me for 6 months after I cancelled my services with them saying I had not returned my devices. I had returned them within 30 days of cancelling my services. They tried to charge me multiple late fees for not returning items. I was livid they would do such a thing. There needs to be caps on what companies can charge for services.

So if you don't have proof you can't win. The company most likely recorded the conversations, so they should be able to produce them as proof of what they said.

When you call any business they are recording you, they tell you that, they have too. “This call is recorded for quality assurance”, they aren’t recording you for your protection.
