I have always said that, people always say boxers are dumb/stupid and they dont listen. Boxers play dumb but are very smart, so smart that they know how to act dumb lol. They are the most loving and loyal breeds, and dont ever try to ruff up there human children cause they will become aggressive

Mine had selective memory. He learned every trick I taught him within minutes and performed it like a pro the very next day and every day after ... Except "roll over". Learned it quick, decided it wasn't comfortable for him, forgot it just as quick. But, he remembered he didn't like it so he played dumb if I ever tried to reintroduce the trick at a later date. Crazy smart and eager to please, but definitely stubborn (and smart) enough to play dumb when they feel like it.

True! And this seems to be the most consistent trait to be passed on the boxer mixes too! I've had two boxer mixes (each mixed with a different breed) and my aunt had the sister of my first dog, and they were all forever-puppies! And all three would box when playing. That seams to be the most dominant gene in boxers. 😍😍😍

I'm adopting a 9 year old boxer from a shelter soon! She's had a hard life (cancer, abuse, being used as a breeder in a puppy mill), but she's so sweet and kind, loves all people and dogs! Obviously she's an old girl so she's very calm, I think it will be a lot of cuddles, sleeping and chill walks.

Boxer's have the longest puppy it takes 3 years for a Boxer to reach maturity. At about 5 years their energy does come down, they become dignified, they like to lounge a lot, but when it's play time they will play hard. Just get used to the fact that she will take 3/4 of your bed and allow you to have 1/4. They like to talk, Boxers are very expressive both verbally and in their body language, they learn quite quickly how to communicate with humans. ua-cam.com/video/CRtUySYky80/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/H6yL4v9Z1f4/v-deo.html

Completely agree with this review, this breed is not for everyone and people don’t understand they need all the attention they deserve. You can’t leave them in the backyard without coming home to a mess if you don’t train them. But this breed is my favorite has the best personalities, temperament is great with family and kids and they do shed but I don’t mind. I love my boxers and I wish people would appreciate this breed more.

Best dog ever. They had never caught my attention until about two years ago when a customer of mine had brought one in. I fell in love with it and got one a week later. She was trained to use a bell to go out within two weeks and she is just the best. She's never gone after my cats and she's never been aggressive to new people coming around. He is correct though, no matter how much they love you they will bolt if the door is open and the chase is horrible

Boxers are awesome!! My wife, son and I have had 3 in the last 12 years. We lost two to cancer, and one to tragic circumstances surrounding a fight over toys (she died of shock about an hour or so after the fight, even though her physical injuries were not serious). In spite of the heartbreak of losing them all too soon, the love, hugs & kisses, cuddles, and plain fun of their playful, goofy nature made it more than worth every tear!! They are forever in our hearts!!

I had a boxer that we just put down a few weeks ago due to throat and nasal cancer. He was 11 years old, easy to train, loved me and my family, would be right next to us if we were sick and wouldn’t leave our side. He instantly became a member of our family and we would take him everywhere. I remember picking him out when I was 8 years old because he was very flighty and would always try and get away from the rest of the pack so it was easy to pick him up 😂. I would definitely recommend a boxer dog to anyone who is looking to get a dog.

Liam I had three Boxers along with a Weimaraner and a Beagle! All five got along extremely well! Boxers are playful and natural guard dogs , yet the MOST GENTLE WITH CHILDREN! Sadly four dogs passed. I now have my soon to be ten year old rescue , the absolute greatest dog ever! He was through two abusive homes with his sister by eight months old ! I was lucky enough to get him, foster kept his sister. I wanted the both of them as they were bonded. This dog will not destroy anything , if I leave food right next to him he won't take it, amazing ! I disagree they are hyper. They are playful throughout life , yet couch potatoes just wanting to snuggle with their humans when inside. The only dog I would completely trust alone with my grandchildren. My dog is an exception in many ways , you have to watch children don't pull on any dog . My Boxer looks a lot like the Boxer in your video. Except in his brindle markings he has a white triangle , and on the white area of his chest a Brindle heart ❤️. I believe my guy is from Germany , as he is 78lbs very broad chested and narrow in the waist . My other two ( litter brothers ) one was 98lbs and the other 78-80lbs. They always slept on top of each other. I miss having all the dogs.

As an owner of 3 boxers, can confirm.
Although, I have to add that my American boxers were more approachable & cuddly, my German boxer is much less so. They're all barkers at home, but my German (Axel) is less comfortable with strangers, but LOVES other dogs. I could see him in a "protection" job if he had the right training. The other two? 😂😂 They're just big doofs & love everyone.
Also, boxers have 2 settings: on & off. When they play, they play HARD. Love to wrestle and rough house. But my boys *love* their naps. They can be happy being lazy with their human, but they get bored easily (especially since they're usually smart af) and can be super destructive if they're not stimulated enough.
But boy I tell ya... I'll never own a different breed. They're amazing and I love how much personality they have. And LOOK AT HER STUPID FACE!! I just wanna give her hugs and kisses all over that adorable mug! 😍😍😍

Boxers are awesome. I just got my 3rd boxer. I bought the puppy from a family that wanted a boxer, but had never had experience with this breed. He was too high energy for them. They had bought the puppy from a woman who wasn't feeding him properly. I would like to emphasize how important it is to research a breed prior to choosing one. Despite my research of 2 years prior to getting my 1st boxer, I still learned a lot about the breed after buying her. Boxers are not for everyone.
Thank you so very much Liam Murphy for bringing up the potential aggressiveness. I had learned that 1 out of 4 boxers are aggressive. I think your statistics are more accurate provided they are trained properly.
They were bred as Schutzhunden (protector dogs) in the same group as German Shepherds, Rottweilers and Doberman Pinschers. I learned the most from my 1st dog's Schutzhund trainer who helped only with basic training of heeling, etc.
They can make great service animals for the right person because they are intelligent and highly sensitive to the owner's needs. My 1st boxer was a service animal.
And thank you also, Liam for stressing how important it is to start training early with a concentrated effort. They are unusually strong for their size.
Because they are high energy, they tend to lose weight easily when young.
Because boxers are prone to cancer, my boxers have had more vet visits to check on growths and lumps. And many vet visits for eye infections and scratched corneas which is more common in brachycephalic dogs.
I recommend selecting a breeder who does genetic testing for Subaortic Stenosis and Degenerative Myelopathy, two common boxer ailments.
Bottom line. Boxers are high maintenance. I have seen too many boxers or boxer mixes in shelters and rescues because the boxer was not properly trained or too high energy.

I am just worried about one thing- leaving boxer at what you call dog hotel when away for holidays.. because I live in diferent country I am not able to leave it for parents, brother etc.. from my experience in owning dachshund for 15 years I wasnt able to leave her away for a day, I mean away from all familly.. After we left her once at my granny, I got a call next day that she didnt eat at all just sitting at the door and had to go and take her back.. wonderring how boxer would react to that? maybe kennel would be diferent as they got more dogs in, plenty toys and activities for the dogs.. Anyone experienced leaving your dog for a week? thanks in advance😀

Our experience of getting boxer puppies in England 🇬🇧 Always see the Boxer puppy with it's mum and litter of siblings.
Don't get a boxer where the mum growls/is aggressive towards you.
Go for a boxer with a gentle mum instead. That reflected in our Boxers temperament.
Avoid puppy farms can be harder if it's less obvious.
For example: a quick set up in a laundry room of a house. Not with proper bedding, water, food, toys, warmth, snappy mother boxer dog. Go with your gut feeling on this.
Wish you well. We called our gentle, goofy, family boxer: Bella. Had her for ten years. She died of cancer complications. We do still miss her.
Wish you well with your Boxer dog adventures. They are a fantastic breed.

I've had a Boxer for 14 years. Not 1 time we went to the vet.
Never ever has he shown any aggression. He never barked his head off just when he needed to.
Energy level very high indeed. But can be very quiet, sleepy and cuddly too. A bit stubborn indeed, but yes from puppy days, consistent, and then no problem.
They are funny, sweet, goofy, loving and great company dogs.
I've had many other dogs as I rescue dogs, but for me the Boxer was the easiest. I also rescued a boxer. He was good as gold as well.
    The breed is fab!

I've had a albine boxer for 14 years. Cancer was his cause of death, however, the disease was a come and go reality for him, mostly naturally, with no need for any aggressive treatment, except for the last one, when he was 14 years old. He was the sweetest dog ever, and so freaking beautiful. Not dummy at all, I would say he was actually quite intelligent.

Our boxer has an amazing personality and loves kids, I have a cousin and he’s scared of every dog except my boxer. Although he’s very protective but would never attack or hurt anything unless it hurt me or my siblings which is amazing for a family dog as we feel safer when we have them home with us 😊

I had a boxer named Taco. He was the best. He was best in show before he came to us. When I broke my leg, he picked up on it right away before anyone else did. He also saved my brother from being stung by wasps. We use to play monster with him. Where we hide under the blankets and my Dad use to hit the blanket. He would playfully start attacking the blanket. He was gentle when he attacked the blanket. He was an American boxer. he was a big boy. Also fun fact about boxer they also went after bulls too.

On the health issue stats, make sure your breeder does heart testing, kidney testing and hip testing.
Boxers, being deep chested dogs, tend to be prone to cardiac related issues.
They also become very bonded to their families. I've had boxers since I was a child, mostly mom and pup pairs and finally as an adult have my own special girl, Wicket.
Boxers are special and lot of what you say is true however the activity levels of most boxers tend to taper off as they age. They have the longest puppyhood, slowing down around 4 years old. In my perso al experience with now 5 different boxers over my life, their energy comes in waves, spurts so to speak.
They are sensitive dogs, who read you emotions and react accordingly. My favorite breed by far and will never own anything else.

My dad is 93. My mom died May 17 2021. They had been married 71 years. So on the 5th of August my dad had our 7 1/2 year old 110lb Fawn & White male AKC Boxer outside next to the driveway on a leash. He told me he was sitting there thinking about my mom when a UPS driver stopped and came running up the driveway when Chesty started barking and jumped at the driver. My dad stood up and kept the dog under control and the UPS drive tossed the package in the driveway. As my dad turned around to walk back to his chair a man came walking down the Public Sidewalk and Chesty started barking and pulled my dad and my dad fell keeping control of Chesty the whole time, but when he fell he broke his hip. So the surgeon operated and replace his old hip. He was gone 21 days from home in the hospital and rehabilitation. He was looking forward to coming home especially because he missed his dog. He loved that dog like a child. The night before he came home Chesty was acting kind of lethargic. When my dad came home Chesty didn't seem to excited to see him. He came over to my dad and laid down by his feet. Then my dad said Chesty is trying to stand up and he can't. So I went over there and he started stiffing up his legs and all of the sudden he died. It was horrible. I saw my mom die and then this dog. But the good news is we have a puppy that will be 8 weeks old coming Friday. He is a little male Brindle. AKC. This will make the fifth male boxer I've owned. I had a female that lived 13 years and one male that lived 9 years but the other three died in the 7th year of their life. Once you've owned a boxer you're hooked on them. The only bad thing is they don't live to long. By the way he had just had his three year Rabbis shot and exam on month before this.

I have a 11 year old female boxer and she’s still very healthy. She’s about 23” and weighs 58 lbs. I’ve had no discipline issue at all. She will wander off occasionally while I’m working in yard, though not far. But never had her bolt down the street. Never really had her destroy furniture or chew up shoes. She always has had a toy like a Kong and her favorite plastic bottles to work over. However stuffed animals don’t last more than a week. I can’t imagine life without her, she goes everywhere with me. When she passes I’m up for another.

I’ve had two dogs within my life, one half breed and one pure. We adopted both. My pure bred (lexy) is not aggressive, she is protective over us by barking but she quiets down pretty fast. I love her so much, she is gentle and loyal and so funny. She needs so much attention, we play frisbee a lot with her, she helps me practice for Ultimate Frisbee. She has had a bladder problem (probably from old age). She’s extremely stubborn, selective hearing is her thing. She’s also so smart, it makes her dumb😂😂.

Boxers are awesome! The only aggression I ever saw in my female was when my 3yo daughter and I were yelled at by a door to door salesman and when my parents dog barked at her and tried to bite her. I have a 3 year old white Boxer and she is so loving and gentle, I trust her around kids way more than my Shih Tzu. One thing I will say though is she is very skepticle of strangers or dogs who send out mixed signals. She is very protective and she does bark a lot if she hears noises in the backyard etc. I sort of understand the aggression rating because although she has never attacked anything, I do know she would probably do so in a tough scenario. Boxers are amazing dogs, a good balance of love and protectiveness. Mine is very smart and well trained, I can walk her off leash but I had to be SO firm with her when she was young. If you can get past the first year successfully then Boxers are very rewarding.

Our Boxer Cara ("she who gives love" in Latin) was the sweetest and most honest creature that I have ever known. She was smart and very empathic too, being able to "read" our feelings. She had her own will and could pout if not getting what she wanted.
She had a pedigree and came from a line of (European) champions, but with us she was just another member of the family. She was never alone and she had a good life with us.
Born in 2004, we had her pass away in 2017. She is still dearly missed.

My boxer is 2 years old, he turns 3 on September 2nd. He is SOOO stubborn sometimes, he is really active once he gets outside, I trained him everything essential, I'm still training him. He barks his square head off when he sees anyone or anything pass the window when my brother and I are home alone, if I open that front door he just might go full on guard dog mode. But I love him, he's a sweet boy who will never grow out of that hyper puppy state😂😂
