- Stop! You don't have to throw away, cover up or paint your outdoor cushions! Just clean them, quickly! Here's how!
Please be sure to test the bleach solution on your fabric before covering your fabric in bleach! I personally wanted to lighten the color of my cushions.
Bleach Mixture:
75% Bleach
25% Water
Couple pumps of liquid dish soap
You can change the ratio of the solution by using less or no bleach and add more dish soap + Oxi Clean instead.
**Please be sure to RINSE RINSE RINSE your cushions when you are done!
If you are using bleach please be mindful of your clothes and materials around you ;)

*UPDATE: I've noticed that my cushions have stayed cleaner longer using the bleach solution. Also, bleach is an insect repellent so I have noticed a LOT LESS bugs!
Wondering how you kept the bleach solution from discoloring your black outfit? What type of soap did you use? Can you put ratio in description please. Thanks.
I gotta tell you, Bravo.
When you pulled out the drill with the brush, 🤯🤯🤯
And your solution?!?!?!
Awesome Job.
I will be using your process
This worked so well!! Thank you!!
I'm surprised you didn't ruin your black jumpsuit using the rotating brush on a bleach solution! I'll stick to Oxy Clean.
Lol I have some pink spots. My cushions are about 13 yrs old and Oxy Clean just wasn’t cutting it anymore. For my situation, this came out cleaner, lasted much much longer and keeps the bugs away. Best of luck!!
I use that solution for almost everything I clean and my wife pointed out that a lot of my clothes have little spots on them so I now I wear the spotted clothes for cleaning. I really didn't care but she was embarrassed to be seen with me in public!
You should mention only some dishsoaps will work for this. When you mix most dishsoaps with bleach it creates a very toxic chemical called chloromine that can be deadly if inhaled.
Omg I was so afraid of the bleach near your black outfit too. Cute outfit too.
brilliant!
awesome!!!!
Thanks,
Drill brush? Whatttt? 😅 that’s awesome!
Hi! Do you think this will work on maroon colored cushions?
Hi! The bleach may lighten your fabric so 1) is that something you want? 2) spot test!
You can also try OxiClean in lieu of bleach
@@amynadimi3265 Thanks so much for the quick reply. I have used I I clean in the past and can never seem to get all of the residue off. My cushions always feel and look a little dirty still.
@@christinalopez9969 I know what you mean. The bleach seriously made a difference on mine. Not only in the cleaning process but in STAYING CLEAN & a bonus of keeping the bugs away! Lol. Just test it first ;)
Won’t the drill damage the cushion? Like if it’s dry- will tiny fibers stick out?
Hi! You can find a bunch of different bristle attachments. Including soft upholstery brush attachments. I used a rough brush because my cushions are old and they were filthy (also why I was personally comfortable experimenting on them! )
What is the drill attachment called? Do you have a link?
I don’t remember the exact vendor I purchased from but if you search Drill Brush Attachment on Amazon you’ll see a bunch. Mine is one of the stiffer brushed. The fabric brush was too soft for my outdoor fabric. Hope that helps. Good luck!
excellent
Thank you. Glad it was helpful
Are these water resistant cushions?
I bought fabric spray paint for my cushions on my swing but im nervous to use it. Smart idea w/the drill. I do wanna say u are not supposed to mix bleach with dish soap. It even says on the dish soap bottle. Try vinegar instead of bleach with the dawn🥰
Thank you for the tip! ☺️
I’ve tried the fabric paints a couples time but didn’t like the results. I hope you have better luck with em 💕
That’s because a lot of dish soaps have an organic form of ammonia in them which is very toxic when mixed with bleach, same reason you don’t disinfect your kitty litter box with bleach, kitties have a lot of ammonia in their urine
Great tip to use a drill brush!!
Thanks!!! Glad it was helpful
Yes. But I was kinda scared her hair was dangling really close to the drill. 😂
We keep getting water marks after washing our outdoor cushions. Any suggestions?
Hi! I’m sorry, not sure how to stop that. We have a white one that does that too. I’d like to treat it with scotch guard but can’t seem to get rid of the water marks first 🥴
I have black and white patio furniture, do you think the bleach would ruin it?
I wouldn’t risk it 😬 maybe spot test with OxiClean instead?
I love black and white patio sets btw! That’s what I’d like once I finally give up on these 😂
Thanks for your honesty 🤗
Won’t the bleach stain the fabric
Do we have to do it nice and slow like her and try to be pretty too?
Can you wash the covers in the washer?
Assuming they are removable, I don’t see why not. Should have an instruction tag. Mine aren’t removable 🤷🏻♀️
@@amynadimi3265 unfortunately, no instructions on tag. 100% polyester & removable.
@@JT-un7dc poly is usually pretty durable. I’d turn them inside out and wash on either cold or warm. Lay flat to dry. Good luck
@@amynadimi3265 thank you!
This is a lot of work and doubt it’s 5 minutes per pillow. I have several pillows to do and this would not be a practical way to do this.
Black and bleach. No
First, how do you do it in less than 5 minutes when the video is five minutes, and you didn't finish the one cushion? THE LIES!!!!!
