Good video Les! I’ve been coyote hunting a couple years here in Alabama. THIS is how you have to do it. They don’t come out on a field very often at all. Thanks for the video hunting the thick stuff.... good job! The pros can get em anywhere 😄👍🏻
Thank you Dustin! I will do just that. I have some that will be coming online probably next week that are a little different style. Mainly just me talking to the camera and some use of a whiteboard on some situations. Looking forward to really gearing this channel up with videos. Thanks for your positive feedback and for watching. Have a good night. LJ
awesome les.. exactly How I hunt foxes and wild dogs down here in Australia.. I use the predator call and my trusty .22lr.. getting a .223 soon to exten the shot.. .308 and tbe .300win mag I own are a bit to big..lol
Thank you so much for commenting and for your support! I would love to plink the coyotes, etc with just a 22lr. I am actually going to start showing a suppressed .22lr in action soon. Talk about quiet! I would say the .223 would be nice but perhaps a .222 would be better for foxes? Alot of the fox guys that I knew that were alot older than me used the .222 back when our foxes brought high dollars. And...the .308 and .300 would be really nasty on the little predators... :) Thanks again for watching friend! LJ
Clinton Walsh hey Clinton I've used my 300wm with 110 grain ballistic tips. they don't move or should say explode with a 30 cal bullet at over 4000fps lol
Brian, I was wondering how many people would notice. I get hundreds of questions on crunchy or loud snow. Guess I am going to be using this video as part of my learning series...lol! :) Thank you for watching and noticing! Have a good day! LJ
I can't express how much I'm looking forward to the white board examples. It will help a ton with my setup. I think it will help teach me what the ones I don't see are doing. kind of like knowing what they're going to do before they do.
I'm trying to call in a coyote in pretty thick timber. Basically its reprog. We did a set and placed the call out at about 100 feet from us. We I let the call run for 5 minutes and then shut it off. Should I have let it keep going until something came in?
This is like "coyote college". awesome video, I appreciate the thick cover setup example. I'll be able to modify it to the majority of my terrain features.
Thanks Michael! Trust me when I say this, there is going to be a wealth of knowledge beginning to show up here on my channel soon. I just sent my editor 10 more videos to edit for UA-cam plus I need to release about 8-10 more that are on my account. I filmed several yesterday and today that will really help alot of people. It is more "talking head" stuff and there will not be as much footage in it, but you will get alot out of it. Some of the stuff I use a white board to write down pros/cons. Thanks again for watching Michael! Have a good day! LJ
Great video Les and yes my favorite set-up here in Manitoba, Canada. Thick cover with my shotgun. Question though, I never go without my ghillie poncho, don't like wearing ghillie suits?
Hey Lone Ranger, I never have done the ghillie suit thing. Although I think that they are very good camo, up in your neck of the woods, you could get mistaken for a Saskquatch? Just sayin....! :) Thanks for watching and your correct about the tight cover and a shotgun. Quick and easy to instinctively shoot with a shotgun when they show up. LJ
Les, as always, enjoyed the video. Any tips on calling the deep sagebrush? In my area we have vast expanses of sage avereraging 2 to 3 feet tall. Its full of coyotes but, man is it tough to kill them. Most people wont even bother.
Thank you Aaron! I will make a video on this in the near future. Thank you for giving me the suggestion! Thanks again for watching and commenting! Have a good day! LJ
Hey Guthard, It wont probably be this year. I have so much going on that I do not see myself going in that direction right now. Sorry bud! Thank you for watching and maybe I will see you this weekend eh? Take care and have a good day! LJ
75% of my stands are like this in Arkansas. I have a spot that looks just like that with a big creek right in the tree line. Called a double out that spot first sit. Both jumped up and out of the creek with in a minute. Spots are are tough to hunt but when they are there it’s go time pretty quick.
I notice he uses distress call from the beginning. When would you do that, as opposed to starting off by using a coyote howl? I've seen most of your videos starting off with the howl.
I don't think it matters too much. Out of the 7 i called in. 4 I started out with howls, then distress. The other 3 I started out with distress, the I howled. Based off the 7 hunts, I would always howl first if you can. Gives them a lot of confidence right off the bat and you might anger the alpha male during breeding season, He'll come right in looking for your ass. . I don't know where you hunt either, but here in MN, it can get really thick with timber. I always make sure I squeek with my lips before I do any louder calling. I walked 100 yards back into my woods, sat down in a deer bed that looked like a ww2 foxhole with all the deep snow. Squeeked like a mouse, waited, squeeked again and here came a nice 40lb male. Walked right up to me 5 yards away and I rolled him with buckshot. Didn't even have to get out the calls.
@@mknight5159 I have foxes in my area too (North Carolina). Would a coyote howl negate the possibility of a fox showing up? My goal is to eliminate the predators so that more rabbits can thrive, for rabbit season. I'm not choosy between fox and coyote.
@@eak185 I'm not an expert on wildlife but I'd have to say yeah. If you howl, a fox will stay clear of the area. Only for the fact that coyotes hate foxes. They do not mingle well because there both predators. I've heard a couple stories of coyote packs tearing apart lone foxes. Not too many know, but foxes are more alike a cat, than a canine. Since they can climb trees very well.
We are soooo much better than those two! LOL :) Just kidding! Yes they were the bomb! Haven't talked to them in years! Thanks for bringing up the memory of them! LJ
Made fast work of calling and stopping him for the shot with a soft bark. It seems to me that he was attempting to circle ya both down wind to get your scent... maybe that's why he didn't come straight in to your brother. That's my guess.
Thanks Tim and you are correct! Once we both stood up after the stand was complete, the wind was doing all kinds of crazy swirling and we both then understood as to why he took the route that he did. Thank you for watching and have a good day Tim! LJ
Love your positive attitude, and I love how you explain things on every video! I am learning a ton from you and your great videos. Keep it up!
I always love watching you.
Never gets old! These videos are great!
Thank you Steven, I appreciate it! Thanks for watching and have a good night. LJ

You guys make it look easy. Now that's something i can relate to the thick cover hunting in MO
Brad, we are lucky every now and again! :) Thank you for watching and commenting! LJ
Loved this one. This is how most of my calling is like in Illinois.
Love these type of videos!!! Keep them coming Les.

Thank you Charlie! LJ

Brian, I was wondering how many people would notice. I get hundreds of questions on crunchy or loud snow. Guess I am going to be using this video as part of my learning series...lol! :) Thank you for watching and noticing! Have a good day! LJ

nice coyote hunt in the woods
Nice job guys! It’s nice to see brothers slamming coyotes together.
Awesome job
Hey les is this your UA-cam channel...if so....HELLLL YEA.......
nice! good job on the Cam Les.
Quick question. Is a .17 HMR enough to take down a yote quickly? I have larger calibers but I really like my .17

What do you use for scent control when hunting coyotes? It would be nice to see you do a video on scent blocking.
Most experience hunters will tell you scent blocking is a waste of time and money. You have to get the wind in your favor. You can't fool their nose

Hey Michael's Son, thank you! Yes that coyote was stopped right in his tracks! :) Thank you for watching and have a good day! LJ
5:22 that guy knows how to drag a dog out. i get a kick out of the ones that go against the fur. nice hunt
i often just use my .22 long rifle for coyotes. its enough if you have good shot placement.
Nice video Where are you hunting and what time of day?
This stand was eastern Kansas about 1 hour after sunrise.
Hey. Les when you going to call by Lincoln Nebraska

Despite the 58k views, this is an underrated video! Awesome! May I ask what state? Most of our videos are shot in PA and OH.
Was watching this again and noticed - where's Jeff's HK?
i blew it --its your brother huntin --duuah --
You guys remind me of Tom and Ted from CO.
We are soooo much better than those two! LOL :) Just kidding! Yes they were the bomb! Haven't talked to them in years! Thanks for bringing up the memory of them! LJ
Lol!

That's more like my sets. You're convincing me I need to tote a shotgun along also.
Great video love it but i don't know how your back take sitting like that. I would have backed my ass up to that tree!
