I love this approach. Something I have always taught and believed in, Keep It Simple Stupid. I learn something from every video of yours I watch. Thanks Les.
Wow such a simple and effective way of calling! I tried the howl wait 5min sequence and by the 3rd howl an old mature male that I'm sure I've heard several times before came in! Thank you for sharing!
I started watching last night but had to leave after you said hiss. This morning I took that tidbit of info and ran with it. It was too easy. Thanks. Now, I'm watching the whole thing.
Thanks Mr Johnson!! You are a tribute to the all American citizen and hunter. Keep up the great work and have a great New Years with your friends and family!!! Kevin Mihm, fortunately and formally from Harvard, Nebraska.
Just got into mouth calling and yote hunting and this is some of the best info out there. Its kept simple stupid and Les makes it easy to follow. Thanks
Thank you for this. It made me realize I was being way to aggressive and messy with my calling. I need to slow it down, simple it out, and space it out.
I am so glad I stumbled on to this channel. I had already subbed recently and frankly, this video makes me feel better as I have tried using hand calls and so far have called in nothing but frustration....lol! Going to give this a shot and save it.
We had these things as kids toys back in the 60's. They can reach out quite a ways. We never hunted coyotes back then but the sound always either shut the neighbors dogs up, or got them to howling back. I have no doubt they would bring in some yotes. While the reeds in ours were perfectly flat, the sound is exactly the same.
Thanks Les , I didn’t know that you had to ( hiss ) . This made a huge difference in the sound . Now I am confident in using this in the field. Will use this in the morning !
Probably the most no nonsense, straightforward & enjoyable info channel. I like your style Les. Wishing you many safe/successful hunts in you new year 🤘🏼
Man I was doing everything wrong!!! like you said everything else was cluttering my mind I’m heading to bass pro to buy me one right now . there’s tons of coyotes by my house and I’ve been on them for the last month or so and I can’t get them close it makes sense what you said thank you so much and God bless!!!!
Very informative thanks, also could you do a video about scent control or what you do and use? I have just started to hunt coyotes this year since I now live on the prairies in SK Canada, I have been using a electronic caller but can mimic this information on my caller an ICO300. I have tried as soon as I got the caller got instant response using jack rabbit distress with yips and howls towards me in a heavy wooded area could not see them but they hungup as I then tried to howl back, your information here tells me what I did wrong thanks Les!
Started getting interested in coyote hunting, havnt been out yet hopefully I can get started soon. Still have to get my all the gear I want. Thanks! I have already learned a lot! Let's hope it works for me!
Less is more when calling turkeys and howling for coyotes. WOW! Hand calls still work, imagine that! Great info-Thanks Les, good info needs to get out there, to counter all the complex stuff.
Good video Les, thank you. It helped me with the howl and pup-distress. If I keep practicing it will become a lot easier. I can use a Turkey mouth call pretty good. Have used that for close to 30 years, so hoping I can get a lot better with the Yote howler. But I am getting quite sick of wasting my time I feel like. Not calling any in . Just got real serious last winter. Got a Foxpro caller so been out using that. Thanks for sharing.
Great info as usual brother. Can you tell me what the single bark they give sometimes is about when you're calling them? It seems like a locator but not sure.
Les, been home with the flu and started watching your you tubes. You are a good teacher and I really like your down to earth style. I've only shot coyote when deer hunting here in New England. I notice your videos are all out west. Is there any difference in hunting the big timber back east? I have heard to try calling around marshy or swampy areas. Another question about shotgun loads: here in Connecticut I am relegated to hunting state land where I can only shoot .22LR or shotgun with not larger shot size than #2's. I'm thinking a good turkey load would work. Thanks Les and God bless. Would love for you to comment.
What bran call is that? I'm 62 and have been carrying around a shit load of equipment. I wanna try and carry the bare minimum what do I need? Can you tell me the brand's you use. You are my guru
I've called coyotes here in Kansas all my life. Ended up with back problems about the same time my son was big enough to trapes along. Years have passed and he is going out on his own. I never got into the howling but he's heard all the hype about it and wants to try. I told him it wasn't necessary but I will be sure he doesn't miss this information. Best I've heard! Any thoughts on howling if you have a chance to call a cat also? THANKS much for the information!!
There are some videos of guys who were doing distress calls to call in coyotes and bobcats showed up. I suspect that, though dangerous, the same might work for cougars, who could end up stalking you. I think Les is probably the most practical, ethical predator hunter, though I can see how it could be easy to get too caught up in the sporting aspect of successful hunts, especially IR assisted night hunting. Some coyotes pose no real threat to live stock, but do provide modest income for some with their beautiful pelts.
In my part of PA there are tons of guys sqwauling and squeaking teaching the yotes cause they don't watch wind or bust sets. All my kills have been via aggressive howling.
That's cool. I also live in PA and I've never actually hunted a coyote before but I recently got the new FoxPro calls for when I do, come next year. I hope that some aggressive calls like these give the hope of larger coyote game.
I love this approach. Something I have always taught and believed in, Keep It Simple Stupid. I learn something from every video of yours I watch.

Excellent calling instruction with a dash of yote psychology created a beautifully blended instruction video.
I was so clueless on how to do this until I watched this video. Thanks les :)
I started watching last night but had to leave after you said hiss. This morning I took that tidbit of info and ran with it. It was too easy. Thanks. Now, I'm watching the whole thing.
Very good instruction. love the terminology for us common folk. Thanks Les
i guess I'm quite off topic but does anybody know a good site to watch newly released series online ?
I learned quite a bit just watching this video. I planned on saving and watching over and over before you even said so at the end. THANK YOU
Thanks for the simplicity behind the madness and a great place to start.
I finally figured it out after watching this! Thanks! My dog is freaked out lol
Thanks for the clear cut down to earth video Les!
Thanks Mr Johnson!! You are a tribute to the all American citizen and hunter.

Thank you for this. It made me realize I was being way to aggressive and messy with my calling. I need to slow it down, simple it out, and space it out.
Great video! Love to see a video compilation of coyotes coming with different postures and you explain what they mean. Awesome work.
I am so glad I stumbled on to this channel. I had already subbed recently and frankly, this video makes me feel better as I have tried using hand calls and so far have called in nothing but frustration....lol! Going to give this a shot and save it.
This is exactly what I wondering how you make your sets. Great video Les.
8:21 When the hunter becomes the hunted...great stuff! Great tutorial on calling!
Thanks for the info man! I was struggling with the bark but you’ve convinced me... howl and distress should do the trick
Thanks les. Got the orange PQ howler and been practicing and wondering if I was doing it right. Very helpful

Will def try the howl and wait five minutes before going into a distress. Thanks!

Thank you Less this so helpful.

I'm trying to Lear how to use this call I didn't quite understand you
We’re can you get these??
Hornady is a great round.
5:40 kids when they don't get what they want
Btw I'm also a strictly bow hunter.
Thanks I can do it now
#1 les
You know how to teach.
Hi Les
I wanna come hunt with you so bad!
So what do I do? Lol.
My question is this...and I'm totally serious.....why would you want to call a coyote?
emily wilson I’m a tad late, to kill it
Your howls aren't very great. I'm just saying man. Try an mfk call they're insanely realistic
With the amount of yotes he's taken, i think they're realistic enough.
Lmao
Mfk is better
