The number of hits songs and films is unending and here we talk about their work, feats and associations.

We never get the satisfaction from others, what we get from Shankar Jaikishan songs. Beautiful melody, amazing orchestra, it literally touch your soul, transport you to another planet. That is why veteran music director Naushadji called them magicians. There is a temple in London in their name. Their musical contribution are part of Indian culture and legend. I pay my humble respect to the memories of these great sons of India. 🙏🙏

Another USP was their compositions were so catchy and liked by masses and classes equally.in addition to that be it orchestra arrangements,creation of preludes and Interludes,use of chorus , back ground score,title songs or theme songs shankar Jaikishan were the Trend setters in all respect.shankar Jaikishan were indeed miles ahead of their contemporaries in all the department of music and they proved it time and again.unki baat hi alag thi aur unka andaz bhi juda tha rather in short I must say that the whole team of shankar Jaikishan was simply superb and genius to the core ,the music composers duo were par excellence who said to have devine touch in their composition.

As S J is a place of Worship
for me, I would say a few things about them-
They were trend setters.
" Barsat" overnight changed the references of film music.
" Halaku", "Yahudi " Amrapali" "Seema" showed their potentiality.
Unfortunately "Basant bahar" went unrecognized.
I don't know why...
" Jis deshmain" is amazing blending with screen play, " Anadi" is a super most example of characterization.
In "Jangali", " Rajkuar" they changed there own trend,
In "Evening in Paris" they showed the power of being outgoing
I have really not seen so many combinations of human mind and attitudes which they brought in film scores.. Not a joke.
It needs highest degree of self confidence, and
they had it 🙏
Undoubtedly Shankar jaikishan were the greatest music directors in ages to come.

Rajivaji, you said it right. SJ were the first to use western music innovatively. Though CR and Salilada also used western music and they are credited for that. But I think it was SJ who used western and arebic music beautifully. And they are not given due credit. Use of purcusion instrument such as dholak, tabla, congo bongo was so artistically used by SJ in Halaku, Dil apana aur preet parai, Yuhudi and many more movies was so unique, innovative and versatile.
In my opinion SJ were real rythm king. But due credit was not given to them.
This is fact that Shanker Jaikishan great music directors .And no one come closure to them

At the early stage Jeetendraji even given his fees to sign SJ
Becoz producer was under tight budget and not dare ti sign SJ.The film was ".gunhao ka devta ",then after in his many film SJ given music like mere huzoor,yaar mera,ek naari ek bhramchaarri, etc all were block buster.

I think that Shankar Jaikishen were a class of music diectors who were heads and shoulders above the rest in the film industry.
For their success the contribition of Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri cannot be undermined.

Absolutely right.SJ were & are the best composers of Bollywood so far.Shammi kapoor;Rajendra Kumar; Raj Kapoor owe everything to SJ.
They composed most of songs on raga basis,fantastic.Their music is popular in Russia & other foreign countries.

They were the best and were lucky also , almost all movies for which they composed music became silver and golden jubilee hits . Even today singers who do stage shows with sj songs get rousing audience response .50's to 70's was the golden period for hindi film music and almost all music directors of that era were churning out great music.

Sir congratulations on a we'll researched documentary on S-J Sirs. What a gift they were to the hindi film Industry. We shall always cherish their 🎵. But at the same time I would like to point out that u missed out on a very crucial element of the core team of Great Shankar- Jaikishan. You didn't even in a single instant mention the two class strangers they had e.g. Sebastian D'Souza for the western section and Dattaram Wadkar who looked after the percussion deptt. They have an equal contribution in endless S- J superhits. Diy you agree Sir? Waiting for your response ASAP..

Sir, with due respect, S-J had great combinations with Dev, Manoj, Dharmendra and Shashi in particular and with many heroines like Nargis, Vyjayanathimala, Saira Banu, Sadhana, Nutan etc. The idea wasn't to be comprehensivebut to show what S-J were in an era where lesser talents are hyped more.

In cricket parlance they were the Don Bradman of the Hindi Film Industry. If any Tom Dick and Harry says SJ were good (They were the best) than just forget about the idiot who said this. Till the music of Hindi Film is heard the name of SJ will always be taken with respect and awe.

let me tell you rajiv the lyricists you mentioned who wrote after 1968 were not of the caliber as the earlier ones and from here the decline started and after going of JaiKishan the era came to an end so grievnacin

SJ used over 90% Rafi voice among male singers. He used Lata, mubarak begum, Asha and others in female.
Rafi sang 341 songs for SJ, Mukesh sang 141, Kishore sang 101, Mannadey 78 and few other singers Like Talat Mahmood, Subir Sen and Hemant Kumar account for 50 songs. By which Mathematics Rafi Sab sang 90% male songs, I don’t understand. This is what Rafi fans do on all platforms that they try to demean other singers of golden era.

You are wrong about Dilip Kumar. Aan was super super hit in 1952. Daag was also hit, but not to the level of Aan. Also, Dilip Kumar was the only actor in those years, who never relied on songs, but acting. Also, dilip Kumar always trusted only one composer. And we all know who was that.
दिलीप कुमार जी बहुत उच्च कोटि के अभिनेता थे, अभिनय सम्राट थे, पर जब कभी भी हिंदी फिल्म संगीत के स्वर्ण युग की बात की जाती है, जब हिंदी फिल्मी का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण पक्ष संगीत हुआ करता था, उस समय के गानों को याद करने पर राजकपूर साहब, देव आनंद साहब , शम्मी कपूर जी, राजेंद्र कुमार जी पहले याद आते हैं, बाद में राजेश खन्ना जी, जितेंद्र जी, ऋषि कपूर जी पर भी बहुल लोकप्रिय गाने फिल्माए गए हैं, दिलीप कुमार साहब पर भी बहुत से कालजयी गीत पिक्चराइज किए गए हैं, पर राज कपूर साहब और देव आनंद साहब के गाने की दिवानगी कुछ अधिक है।
