अन्नू कपूजी मै आपकी एक्टींग का सबसे बडा फेन हूँ. मगर आपको जो न्याय मिलना चाहिए था वह नहीं मिल पाया, इसका बडा दुख है. वैसेही आपकी आवाज - गायन व सादरीकरण मे बेहतरीन! आप इतिहास के बडे अभ्यासक है. आजका यह स्वर्गीय जयकिशन जी की यादमे सादर किया हुआ प्रोग्राम डहुत अच्छा लगा. पल्लवी जी का सहभाग से कार्यक्रम की उँची बढी.
आपकी क्षमा माँगते हुए कुछ सुझाव देता हूँ। राज कपूर जी की संगीत टिम गीत लिखना, संगीत तैयार करना इसके लिए अक्सर लोणावळा जातेथे. रास्तेमे एक धाबा जैसा हॉटेल मे अक्सर चाय-नाश्ते करून लिए रूकते थे. उस हॉटेल का एक रामय्या नामका तेलगू भाषक वेटर शंकरजी का फेवरेट था. (शंकरसिग रघुवंशी जीका जन्म मध्यप्रदेश का था मगर उनका पुरा बचपन हैदराबाद मे गया जहाँ उनके पिताजी नौकरी करते थे. वह तेतगु भी फ्ल्युएंट बोलते थे. शंकर जीने तबलेकी तालिम व कसरत भी हैदराबाद मे ही लेने के बाद मुंबई आए.) रमय्या टेबलपर आनेमे देर होनेपर शंकर जीने टेबलपर ही ठेका लगाया.... रमय्या वस्तावय्या रमय्या वस्तावय्या! जिसका अर्थ रमय्या जल्दी आवो. यह ठेका गुनगुनते ही बाजूमे बैठे शैलैंद्र जी ने तुरंतही आवाज दिया.... मैने दिल तुज़को दिया. और मुखडा व चाल तैयार हुआ!
दुसरा किस्सा आपने जो कथन किया है व राज कपूर जी के एक फिल्म का प्रिमियर शो मराठा मंदिर थिएटरमें था उसी वक्त का है. उस जमानेमे शूटिंग या प्रिमियर शो पर ही अपने फेवरीट सितारोंको मिलनेका चान्स रहता था. तो मराठा मंदिर थिएटर के सामने जब दिलिपकुमार और देव आनंद साहब राजजी के साथ दिखे तब भीडने घेर लिया. मगर जब एक हँडसम उँची गाडी व सूटबूटमे आया तब सब लडकियाँ यह तोन हिरोंको छोडके गाडी तरफ भाग निकली! और यह तीनोही मुसकुराते बोल उठे की आज पता चला असली हिरो कौन है।
तिसरी बात... कुछ साल बाद काम की प्रेशर की वजहसे दोनो अलग अलग कंपोझिशन करते थे. और दोनो मे एक अलिखित करार था की किसने क्या बनाया इसका जिक्र कभी नही करेंगे। संगम का.... यह मेरा प्रेमपत्र पढकर की तुम नाराज ना होना... इतना लोकप्रिय हुआ की उसने सब हदे पार की. जयकिशन जी ने किसी एक इंटरव्ह्यूमे कह दिया की इसकी रचना उन्होने की! बस्स... शंकरजी जो मूलतः एक पहलवान थे और स्वभाव से गरम दिमागके थे उन्होने दिलपे लिया और दोनो मे अनबन हो गया. वास्तविक दत्ताराम व जयकिशन जी को प्रुथ्वी थिएटरमें लानेवाले शंकर जी ही थे. इसलिए जयकिशन जी भी उन्हे अपना दोस्त के साथसाथ गुरू भी मानते थे. दुर्भाग्य की बात यह है शैलैंद्र व जयकिशन दोनो करीबन४२-४३ की आयुष्य मे चल बसे और अपने दोस्त के साथ दुखभरी दास्ताँ की वजहसे. एक राजजी व दुसरा शंकरजी की दर्दसे! मगर जयकिशन जी हॉस्पिटलमे आखिर तक कहते थे की मै शंकर की साथ कभी नहीं छोडूंगा! चल बसे पर शंकर-जयकिशन नाम सबके ओठोपर कायम हुआ!

When golden era of Bollywood songs ended, Jaykishanji passed away.
मैं ये बात सही नहीं मानता। मेरे हिसाब से 80-90 के दशक के गाने भी उन सुवर्ण युग जैसे ही हैं। इस दौर के संगीतकारों की रचनाएँ सुनते हैं तो इस बात का पता चलता है। खैयाम, भप्पी लहरी, लक्ष्मीकांत प्यारेलाल, राजेश रोशन, आरडी बर्मन आदि संगीतकारोंने किशोरदा, रफी, लता, आशा, कविता, अल्का, अनुराधा, सुरेश वाडकर, एसपी बाला, अमित कुमार, मनहर, भुपेन्द्र, शब्बीर कुमार, महंमद अजीज जैसे फनकारों से जो रचनाएँ तैयार की है वो आज भी मेलोडीयस लगती हैं और 60 - 70 वाले दशक के गानों के तरह ही सुनना अच्छा लगता है। बहुत लोग उन सुवर्ण युग के गानों को जिस शौक से सुनते हैं उतने ही शौक से 80-90 वाले दशक के गानों को भी सुनना पसंद करते हैं। हाँ, मैं मानता हूँ कि 1987-88 के बाद जैसे गाने आने लगे शायद वहीं से हिन्दी फिल्म संगीत का मेलोडी वाला सुवर्ण युग खत्म हो गया।
अन्नुकपुर भाई आप का बहुत बहुत धन्यवाद आपने शंकर जयकिशन जी का बहुत सुन्दर उनके संगीत से सजी हुई गीत सुनाया और परिचय देते हुए मन को शुकुन मीला। इनके लिए बहुत प्यार

इस दौर में छोटे या बड़े सभी संगीतकार ने गज़ब के गाने कंपोज़ किये।

Every day I learnt from new sirji .Many many thanks to you for the untold story of our legend's of our great nation.
Anuji, thanks for the valuable information on Jaikishanji, SJ were part and parcel of Golden era of Hindi cinema. They were lucky enough to have lyricists like Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri, Singers like Rafi saab, Lataji, Mukeshji.
Then music was taken very seriously in those days, there used to be marathon sittings between film director, composers, singers, actors, lyricists to finalize a song.
Well, Dil Ek Mandir is a memorable movie with outstanding songs including the above mentioned stalwarts.
The rift occurred between SJ is taking credit of composition of one song of film Sangam, ये मेरा प्रेम पत्र पढ़कर कहीं नाराज न होना.
Because there was a Gentlemen's agreement between the two that nobody will ever take any credit of any composition and this agreement was broken.

Pallabi Jaikishan's statement should not be stretched too far as to mean Shankerji was responsible for Jaikishanji's alcoholism and death. SJ composed tunes separately since 1963, that is since Jaikishanji's marriage. Sharda came in 1964 and the dispute over substituting Sharda for Lata in Suraj came to the fore in 1965. But according to Lekh Tondon the difference between Shankar and Jaikishan sorted out later. They were working together from Mera Naam Joker (1969-70), and conducted many orchestra shows that time. So the reason for Jaikishan's drinking habit must be different.

Annu Kapoor, kudos to you for a program well conceived and delivered. But, a small correction. There were no personal differences between Shankar and Jaikishan. Theirs was one relationship that remained intact till their very end. The reason SJ started to compose separately was to meet the deadlines for over thirty movies on hand. Jaikishan wanted to spend more time with his young wife and kids and Shankar spent time at their music room. This was blown out of proportion by those who wanted to spread rumors of a make believe ‘rift’ between the two. Another rumor was that Sharda was the cause of differences between the composer duo which could be farther from the truth. Shankar had great admiration and respect for Lata and would never substitute her for Sharda.

Lakshmi Tummala Ji your post is out of tremendous love for music maestros Shankar-Jaikishan. As an ardent fan of the magicians myself, I express my gratitude and affection for you. I am a 69 year old now I was born a little later than their first movie Barsat was released. But the magic of their music had such a strong pull on me that I started following them. There is no denying the fact that despite different traits they both had tremendous respect and love for each other. Both of them were masters in their chosen field since their personalities were so different and their styles too were so different that probably made their music truly inimitable all the music directors of the golden era (which had such a galaxy of composers and music directors) were influenced by the patent Shankar-Jaikishan style many had copied but none could equal the original. The year 1964 was quite important in the life of the duo. They had maximum number of hits in 1964 but 1964 also laid down the foundation of some differences between the two. They were not only very popular but very prolific too. Most of their work was done individually and when someone finally composed a tune the same was played before the other to have his advice and suggestions. After this modification the song was invariably recorded in the presence of the duo. There as an understanding between them that though they will compose individually yet they will never tell anybody who composed what. 1964 Sharda who was being trained and mentored for quite some time was offered two songs in SURAJ and these songs became the rage of the nation. All the songs of the film were hits but Baharo Phool Barsao by Rafi saheb topped the chart in 1965 (the release year of the film). Till that time there was only one prize for playback singing. Since Titli Udi was equally popular the sponsors had to bring in an additional award to cover this song and now onwards there was separate filmfare award for male and female playback. It is said (I cant say whether this was a rumor) under a signed article Jaikishan gave a hint that Baharo was composed by him. In 1964 the song Mei Ka Karun Raam was to be recorded for SANGAM and Lata was reluctant to sing it she finally sang when hard pressed by Raj Kapoor and Shankar saheb. After this song she had a grudge against both Shanker sahab and Raj Kapoor though she kept singing for Shankar Jaikishan she stopped singing for RK banner and would not sing Shankar's composition if case she came to know that it is composed by him. The entry and instant popularity of Sharda Ayengar further aggravated the impaired relationship (between Lata & Shankar). She kept propping up Laxmikant Piarelal particularly after the untimely and sad demise of Jaikishan saheb she stopped working for Shanker-Jaikishan banner altogether later the jinx was broken in 80's with Sanyasi but their relationship was hardly anywhere near the previous intimacy. LP also prevailed upon Lata to start for RK banner through Bobby. This is what I recall from my memory about them.
@@soni10001 As per my understanding, Jaikishan ji revealed that Ye mera prem patra padhkar(Sangam) was his composition in any show not the suraj's song... Which actually did hurt shankar ji little bit as it the violation of the pact. Nevertheless they never showwd their differences in public and always worked under One name.
