I love how she says "Ten years old without a voice" because she literally didn't speak for a certain time in her life, which she spoke about in one of her most latest interviews. Kind of shows that she actually writes her songs, unlike many artists do.

I think people are missing the point of this video. It's not racism, it's satire. It's a play on stereotypes, just like how the record labels tried to shape Sky into a cookie-cutter popstar, when she wanted to make music her way. Just because she was a beautiful, young blonde when she entered the industry, they tried to control everything she did. If you look more into the history of her career by watching interviews and her old videos, its clear how far she has come...
This video was also released after her arrest, and I think the video and the song are her poking fun at herself in a way. It's a play on stereotypes... she was arrested for drug possession and resisting arrest, which you don't normally hear from young, beautiful blonde popstars... I think this video is really clever, and some people are misunderstanding it. I think in general Sky is a misunderstood musician. I love Sky, and I can't wait for more music from her, the way she wants to do it.

Some people are accusing of being racist. I usually do not need to feel the need to explain myself(which I'm not) but I DO feel the need to share my thoughts on the situation. Nothing upsets me more than being called racist because that is one of the most hateful things anyone can be. Not only do I find it insulting towards myself but I also feel insulted for the actors & dancers & my family in the video. No, I did not use black back up dancers as "props". I never have and never will look at any human being as a prop. That's disgusting. It's also an idea that has never crossed my mind,which is what I find questionable of the people telling me that I did so.Dancers are objects?!?!?! How dare you! Dancers make things come to life. If they were white would they be considered "props"? I auditioned a bunch of dancers,all races & my dancers were the best ones. i know i'm replying to an old comment but i genuinely enjoy sky's rants when she's (righteously) pissed off about something. on the surface she's quite shy and comes off as a bit meek, but in writing she expresses herself with such precision, passion and conviction in a way that's always really satisfying and cathartic to read

Don't want to be this guy but this video is not something film/editing students should look at for inspiration. I noticed this because all of Sky's other videos are amazing so it surprised me. This one still looks good but mostly because Sky has so much charisma on camera but the cuts and some shots are quite poor

I was just looking through the comments and I was seeing a lot of things like 'Oh I really liked this chick but now I don't.' 'Man this sucks, stop trying to be Miley.' 'This video is stupid, you suck' ect ect (Also a lot of weird race stuff) and something occurred to me. I'd been listing to the song the whole time.....and the song was pretty good. Which got me to thinking, are some people getting so wrapped up in their little fantasies that they whip themselves into a frenzy over what is really nothing? And then they let that weird perception distortion they've managed to create distract them from the thing that should matter most when talking about an artist...that this song is actually pretty sweet.
