It makes me think she would fit in with the bands of the 90s too like Veruca Salt, The Cardigans and Letters to Cleo where the voices were kind of sweet against heavier music but yea she'd crush it in today's music too
This song was absolutely perfectly selected, if you read the comics the lyrics go like 5 times deeper & it's incredible as an interpretation, & Brie has the voice of an angel ❤
You're trending on reddit for this video and nobody seems to be able to tell this isn't an official cut/edit of the movie. I plugged your channel because you are way too talented for this to be uncredited.
@@Clarencito It's like if 4chan hated every aspect of freedom of speech and had way too many users with mod privileges. Like Twitter with better grammar and no character limits... or North Korea with more memes. If the servers went down forever, nothing of value would be lost.
IMO (about the movie's plot) Scott Pilgrim faced the insecurities towards their partner that everyone has in a new relationship: - Not being exotic or "different" (Matthew) - Not being famous or cool (Lucas) - Not being morally superior &/or physically gifted (Todd) - Not being the right gender (Roxie) - Not being "enough" (as one person/man) (Katanayagi bros.) - Not being powerful & rich or "in control" (Gideon) - Finally, not being self-confident enough, being paranoid (Nega Scott) He beat them all practically. Ramona fought Roxie because sexual orientation is out of someone's control & Scott befriended Nega because you can't fight yourself, you can only accept yourself.
Yeah I mean in the final fight, Scott won thanks to the Power of Self Respect, and the whole movie is basically about Scott’s journey to accept his flaws. Can’t believe how some people watched this movie and said the movie is just about liking a girl
I saw this movie when it first came out and a dozen times more after and I STILL can't believe how different she looks....she also sounds a bit different now that she's older
In the comic Scott is actually a pretty attractive guy plus he is the best fighter in Toronto and most likely the eastern seaboard according to the comic
Kim was first; she & Scott were both quite young at the time, probably before they even formed the band with Steven. Envy & Scott would've both been starting in the music scene at the same time, before The Clash at Demonhead took off. Knives is 6 years younger than Scott; until he finally admits to cheating on her, she idolizes him as a "cool" older guy. Ramona has massive self-esteem issues thanks to having been abused by Gideon & stalked by the League of Evil Exes.
Because in the comics Scott isn't Michael Cera lol. and honestly in the comics he becomes a better more developed character over the course of the volumes. The movie is nice, but the comics are far better in terms of story and things overall make more sense.
To be completely honest, I came for the song but stayed because of the edit. This was amazing, don’t know how to describe it with other words (and I don’t know if it’s possible to be honest). Congrats on the editing, loved it with all my heart.
Good news: as announced yesterday by Edgar Wright himself, ABKCO is going to re-release the "Scott Pilgrim Soundtrack" later this year, with 24 mins of unreleased songs and YES there will be this "Black Sheep" version that everybody keep asking me (why??) about! Joy to the world and so long to this video, i guess... 😅
This edit is so freaking on point. The way the action matches the intense parts of the song, the synchronization of music and cuts between clips, you'd think that Edgar Wright himself edited this video. Even the clip of the actual performance towards the end of the video gives the video structure and is so smartly done. Well done, this video deserves every single view.
For a while I thought this was an actual scene from the movie, it's so well edited together! This matches the editing in the movie pretty well. Good Job!

Adam Segarra something about this feels very early 2000s teensesque like hanging about with friends until the night and finally just chilling on a hill talking about whatever an getting lost in the moment
Yeah I you on that one. Cannot understand why I keep finding myself back here...hmm. I blame The Midnight - Days of Thunder for getting me hooked on this trip
The director actually made none of the characters blink during their scenes in the movie so they looked more anime like. But with Envy they did that with her outfit ברק דורי
squadra yeah idk why people keep saying that. I saw it on some Instagram fact page and I watched the movie and saw them blinking within the first 10 mins.
What I love about this song is that it's about Scott Pilgrim, who is an unreliable narrator. It talks about Scott twisting the truth, which we see in the movie. While Ramona is mostly upfront about her mistakes in past relationships, Scott isn't. He says he and Kim are cool, but she's clearly still a little hurt. How he treated Knives is obvious and is addressed at the end of the movie. Even with Envy, who seems to have abandoned Scott when she got famous is hinted to not be the whole story (in the comic it's more clear). Want more proof Scott is an unreliable narrator? When he gets embarrassed about his haircut he puts on a red hunting hat. Of you've read Catcher In the Rye, you know Holden Caufield, another famous unreliable narrator, puts on a red hunting hat when he feels insecure. It's a direct reference.
This review of the songs importance in the movie is brilliant! have you commented on the other plot pertinent songs? if so i wish to find the comments. see if i missed something important

I agree even Emily Haines she said she had no idea what the lyrics meant she just wrote them and then Brie Larson sang them and she actually understood what the song meant
@@tonytheone07 In the movie or the comics? In the comics, Knives didn't force Scott into a relationship. She stalked him and that was it. Edit: Apparently some people think I meant stalking is good. Nowhere in my comment says that Knives did was good. I shouldn't have to say it but I'll say it anyways. STALKING IS BAD. IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN. I'm just stating exactly what Knives did to Scott. Maybe I worded my sentence poorly, but that's all I was trying to say. She stalked him and did no more than that concerning asshole behavior towards Scott and only Scott.
@@tonytheone07 LMAO please remember knives was 17 and therefore a minor. Scott was in his early 20s. she didn’t force him into anything, she was a young girl with an obsessive crush and he used her as a rebound

It makes me think she would fit in with the bands of the 90s too like Veruca Salt, The Cardigans and Letters to Cleo where the voices were kind of sweet against heavier music but yea she'd crush it in today's music too
Is that a Billie Eillish diss?

IMO (about the movie's plot)
Scott Pilgrim faced the insecurities towards their partner that everyone has in a new relationship:
- Not being exotic or "different" (Matthew)
- Not being famous or cool (Lucas)
- Not being morally superior &/or physically gifted (Todd)
- Not being the right gender (Roxie)
- Not being "enough" (as one person/man) (Katanayagi bros.)
- Not being powerful & rich or "in control" (Gideon)
- Finally, not being self-confident enough, being paranoid (Nega Scott)
He beat them all practically. Ramona fought Roxie because sexual orientation is out of someone's control & Scott befriended Nega because you can't fight yourself, you can only accept yourself.
Woah, i never thought of that man. Good analysis.

The culmination of the 2000-2010s decade, with the storyline, visual cues, and graphics. Instant classic.

@@vinceguy1464 agreed too saw it when it came out my sophomore year in hs.
How tf did scott land kim, envy, knives and ramona? It's depressing.
idkw but michael cera is just so attractive to me 😭
Because the writers said he did
In the comic Scott is actually a pretty attractive guy plus he is the best fighter in Toronto and most likely the eastern seaboard according to the comic
It’s 2023 and I can never get sick of this song 😩

This edit is so freaking on point. The way the action matches the intense parts of the song, the synchronization of music and cuts between clips, you'd think that Edgar Wright himself edited this video. Even the clip of the actual performance towards the end of the video gives the video structure and is so smartly done.

Well yeah. Anyone who read the manga knows that Scott is a dbag.

I feel so bad for Knives. She was so young and innocent and didn't deserve any of the BS she got because of Scott. Scott is such an asshole lol
Knives was an asshole, she pursued scott and forced him to be her "boyfriend"
@@tonytheone07 In the movie or the comics? In the comics, Knives didn't force Scott into a relationship. She stalked him and that was it.
