i laughed so hard hearing the back story of WHY She brought the BEER out. A WINE Sponsor was in the Studio that day, and Julia being Julia said BEER TODAY
What a joy this was growing up in the 80s, watching PBS and they were on the screen. As I'm getting older, I love and appreciate both of them even more.
Little known fact. Julia whipped out the beer at this taping because one of their wine sponsors was behind the camera. That is why Jacques brought up the wine and looked confused. lol
@@loge7358 Yeah. She didn't cow tow to anyone. And because the producer told her that the sponsors were there that day it was her mission to show them who's boss. Love that!
Has it been three years already?? Time flies anymore. I was still thinking it was like last year. I can imagine it being two years, but three? Yikes. He seems to be doing well these days!
Hey People of Today..This is what True Friendship is all About...Total Respect and Honor. And by the way...This Series is Filmed at Julia’s Kitchen at Cambridge. Julia and Jacques Forever.
That fish sandwich looks so great and crunchiest sound ever Wow is he talented or what.its so cute the way they smile and laugh around with each other. Especially when jack was talking saying what a great time he had with Julia and she continued to drink her wine 😂🍷 but that's what we loved about Julia she was so funny and so cute.
As children, my sister and I were Americans living in Germany in the early 1970's, and the kindergarten we attended had snack time consisting of a roll with a piece of milk chocolate inside it. The first moments of this program instantly reminded me of that. :) Once in a while I will have a piece of chocolate with a roll or piece of bread, and I'm a kid again.
Can you imagine the delight if you were somehow able to hire Julia and Jacques to cook for you and your family? The two of them teaming up to produce wonderful dishes would be amazing
....There is another Sponsor to the Show...Land O Lakes Butter ..And That Episode The CEO of Land O Lakes Came by to Visit and Julia Pulls a Fast one and while preparing the receipt ...Julia says I’m going to use Crisco to make her Dough! Lol 😂 Jacques learned early on not to say anything..lol.
The closest he ever came to being a short order cook was when he was training for head of R&D at Howard Johnson behind the line in the restaurant and I don't really consider that short order ... Unless you call cooking for Charles De Gaulle or La'Pavillion short order.
If you’re sautéing a sandwich in a pan and having trouble with getting the cheese melted, you can always splash some water into the pan and cover the pan. This allows moisture in it and gets the cheese melted.
I ask the same question. I believe it all became about a thing called money. The cooking shows on tv today are there just for entertainment. The chefs don’t really teach you much anymore. When Julia and Jacques were on tv, they at least taught us things about cooking, and how to make things easier in the kitchen when cooking certain things
The cheese melts better if you use whole butter, clarified butter has no wey, which evaporates to steam-melt the cheese. Just in case someone has that problem more recently hahaha
I love that he asks her "what shall we drink? white wine? No........beer, we never drink beer......." Reminds me of my mom - "I'll have a cold beer!" My sis is the same way.......right out of the bottle
In this Episode..Julia Pulls A Fast One on The Whole Crew including Jacque and The Very Important Sponsor for the Show and in fact the Owner of Kendall-Jackson Vineyard, Jess Jackson and his Wife, Barbara Banke were on the Set at Julia’s House on hand to watch this show..and Jacques says White Wine and Red Wine, and Julia ..who knows the Major Sponsor is sitting in her Kitchen says...I Want Beer..and the Look on Jacques Face!! LOL 😆...Julia pulls out...Beer it is!
I cried like a baby. My late mother and I would watch Julia on PBS together on Saturday together. I miss them both so much. I think them both when I cook anything and hope they both approve.

Sometimes a cold one is the right thing!
did she have a habit of sticking it to sponsors?
Greatest screen name ever!💯🇺🇲 watching my French teachers!!
hah! love it
Jacques tearing into that bread and chocolate like he just got out of prison.
The "anti-fat" people ruined the tuna. Julia was golden LOL
"Is this going to be a diet recipe?" Love this woman.
Could watch this a million times. Love their chemistry.
The two of them together is kinda chaos and I absolutely love it! 😍
haha first time I see them together but that was my thought..
Treasures!!! Thank goodness that we still have Jacque. Jacques is now almost the age that Julia was here. Lovely people through and through!
I can still remember watching these two every weekend on PBS. They were absolutely wonderful. I love that Jacques still refers to her.
What a joy this was growing up in the 80s, watching PBS and they were on the screen. As I'm getting older, I love and appreciate both of them even more.
These two look like they just have more than the best of times when they cook together. Love it!
No matter who you are, you've got to love Julia an Jack. Food is love, because we love those we feed.
She did say Jack haha

I agree, Julia is just so classic and a true person...
Yea he misses her. The king and queen for the kitchen.
He does talk about her. He certainly misses her.
"I like beer." I love Julia.
“As an Ore-Dovree” 😩 god I love her
She is very missed.
That and constantly calling him Jack, I have to believe she was trolling him
@@chrisb6149 She trained in paris and spoke french - she definitely was
Watching Jacques and Julia just warms your heart. Today's cooking shows are no where near as entertaining as these older shows.
[Soaks bread in olive oil]
"The cheese will be good, to add some richness."
He's so kind and gentle to her as she she aged gracefully.
What a great set of french chef master's
Jack as she says and (Julia.R.I.P. )
"You could cut them into quarters as an ... OR DU VREE 😏" love her sly smile there

How in the world do you know that lol. And also what prompted her to stiff the wine sponsor?
@@mervinprone There is a series of videos interviewing Jacques about his life. When asked about the show, he told that story.

Two REAL chefs. Jaques was and still is a master chef.

gotta love that intro. just two buds snackin
I just love Julia Childs cooking shows, just so classic and no stress like today.. Miss you Julia Child..
J & J were so great together! This show was closer to my time than her earlier work. His solo show was also wonderful!
RIP Gloria Pepin

Julia/Jacques. Great chemistry. She’s the whiz, he’s the fizz
The king and queen of them all ❤
I really enjoyed watching Mr Pepin & Julia Childs shows. They complimented each other. What a pair!loved the sandwich episode!! Fabulous
LOVE them both:: two national treasures
I have loved these guys since I was a kid. My TV grandparents 😊

Thank you for bringing these back and sharing them! They were the best!

Always delightful. I never tire watching this series.
Thank u for these videos !!
LOVE the videos! Thank you
Aw, this was bittersweet. Love and miss Julia. And I'm currently watching all of Jaques Pépins vids
This is so pure - I love it
Dang I forgot how much I loved this show
I love them . Adorable.
Brings me back to when I was about 3 😆 this is just endearing to watch... thank you for the upload
Watching this reminds me of the exquisite acting job the actress did in portraying Julia in the miniseries of the same name.
I love them both. I grew up watching Julia mostly, brings back great memories.
These two are amazing
That baked seafood sandwich is a mic drop!
She's adorable
Aw, I love them😢
What a beautiful food 😋
If you’re sautéing a sandwich in a pan and having trouble with getting the cheese melted, you can always splash some water into the pan and cover the pan. This allows moisture in it and gets the cheese melted.
It can also moisten the bread, which detracts from a proper Croque Madam.
I love them
Howard Johnson's takes me back. I' m from Ma. We are quite familiar with HJs.
Yum, I am hungreeee 😭
that last one when it came out the oven...... mmmmm mmmm MMMMM
Lovely
I'd love to have seen Julia make ice cream sandwiches.
That sandwich boat is epic.
I have to do that.
I love old school people.
The two were friends before the series and remained close friends until julia's death in 2004.
I have a feeling the crew ate very well this day.
I hope to have hands that steady when I'm 88 lol.
I miss Julia on PBS she was wonderful to watch especially when she cooked with Jaques pepin
Or doovrie! 😂
Omg. That fish bread. Omg. A light mustard sauce with it. OMG!
Ya know, these two, as well KQED set the example of perfection for food TV a long time ago. Question is, what the hell happened?

day old bread? I wish. Merci et cheers.
I can't believe you dare cut the end credits off - just the music alone is an important part of the production.
The President of Kendall Jackson was watching the taping of this show from the control room and Julia asks for beer lol. She was one of a kind
I think I just discovered gold
“Not banana” lol
The cheese melts better if you use whole butter, clarified butter has no wey, which evaporates to steam-melt the cheese. Just in case someone has that problem more recently hahaha
Julia: "It's not good unless the olive oil is running down your arm"
Jacq: (Oh god she's serious)
I was hungry, figured I wanted a sandwich, didn't know what kind of sandwich to make, Immediately thought of this.
She is just amazing and sharp at her age the sad thing is they are at a time constraint for the old TV format and the wine sponsors.😂😂
9:08 or-dovrie 😅. Love Julia
the round sandwich at the end is the french version of the italian muffaletta, much older than the french version!
Cet épisode est un monument de la bouffe, bordel !!!
WELL YA GONNA HAVE TO DRINK BEER 🤣
The Croque Monsieur was kinda dark on the bottom lol see, they didn't show it

I love how she calls him "Jack". Of course she knows what she is doing. She is making a pet name for him. It's adorable.
