Incredible idea to have a massive community tank. Will be lovely to see fish in large schools and more natural behaviours that come from it :)

21 foot short tank screams a river tank. Lots of rounded rocks, sand and gravel. Cryptocoryne species which grow in fast flowing rivers. Lots of flow. And fill it with riverine species: hillstream loaches, gobies, garra, mountain minnows, and danios. That would look fantastic!

The 21-foot tank sounds freaking awesome!!!! I love the idea of all the different schools of fish. It's kinda like what u did with the 2,000 tank a while back. I loved it, and I know we will love this new tank you're gonna build!!!!!

Joey. Do a river setup in the 21ft with rainbow/brook/brown trout. Make an artificial current from one end to the other. That’ll be a challenge

I must say that my all time favorite KDYI aquarium, hands down... has to be the 2000 community tank with all of those smaller fish.. I do love the larger fish size.. but seeing them in large numbers schooling and shoaling together was my very favorite aquarium! I have high hopes for that new fish kingdom!

A really long, shallow tank filled with corydoras is literally my dream tank! I've been talking about doing a 10 to 12 foot one for years just have not been able to afford the materials. Never even once crossed my mind to do it as a plywood tank!

I love the idea of a massive community tank!
With that length you could build a really cool stream tank! With heavy water flow, long grass plants and lots of rocks.
I'd love to see more Rainbow Shiners in the fish hobby. They are gorgeous fish! They are so underrated and Iove to see them more readily available within the hobby, especially in Canada. I managed to get a hold of 6 but haven't had success in getting them to breed yet. I probably need more of them.
Borneo & Hillstream Loaches are cool too. You could even venture into Bamboo Shrimp & Vampire Shrimp with a high flow tank. They are filter feeding shrimp with fans. Vampire shrimp are fairly large.

As a fellow electric eel keeper it would be a lot safer for you and the fish to move it in a large plastic container. Since they are air breathers you only need just enough water to cover his body because you are only moving him like 25ish meters. So he will be fine. Just be sure to wear some class 0 electrician gloves.

I think a closed container is more suitable than a net - as the eel may slither his way out and if a metal net - u may get an electric shot. You wont need a lot of water in the container.
And, dont worry bout not keeping up with the videos. You will get there.

  • @tysenp8193

It'd be really cool if in your 21ft. tank, you got a lot of different species of the same "type" of fish, to see how differently they act compared to each other. For example, you could have like 4 different species of corydoras, a bunch of different variations of tetras (embers, neons, rummynose, etc.) and really get an idea for the differences in their behaviors in a large environment. Like would the rummynose and neons school together or keep to separate areas? Would pygmy corydoras try to join another species? Would they all have their own distinct areas in the tank, or would they intermingle? This has the potential to be really, really cool.

Put on rubber gloves, put them in the house. You'll be much safer and then put a lid on the tote. Once you get a minute you could put Amanda tank in your baseman. Don't be safe for you. No shock involved ok, Joey.

Joey Joey Joey your comfort of building has made me challenge you; but you're the king so just a suggestion. I know you've thought of this too but you should do do it. It very permanent though but imagine this. All walls ( well maybe 3) just one tank. Build it in place. One giant irreversible system. One water change. Many fish interacting with each other all different sizes. Train to feed on one spot. If you ask me since your the king you can do it.

JOEY! the breeding pair of koi wouldn’t work out long for the long term! it will greatly shorten their lifespan and eventually lead to stress and diseases. Bettas have been domesticated for hundreds of years. And even some sororities don’t work out. I THINK you should get into wild type bettas because you can have males and females together sometimes just gotta do it right!

I have a pair of Betta Hendras. They are in a 4g tank ATM and I love watching the things they do. I got home at 3am about 6 weeks after I got them and they were breeding for the first time, I haven't noticed any fry and I'm just happy to have Male and Female Bettas in the same tank. I keep them with a lonely old Neon from a setup roughly 6 years ago and 15 cherry shrimp. They colors aren't as spectacular as the common Bettas, mine are more brown with a blue hue.
