Great video! I love, love, love my NKJV for its beauty of the language, it just seems to pack more punch in so many verses. I use my CSB and then my ESV usually along side as I read. Keep up these awesome videos!
Thanks for your strong endorsement of the NKJV. Like you, I frequently study the ESV, NASB and NKJV. I enjoy comparing the nuances between them. That said, I also read and study the CSB and NIV. Just liked and subscribed to your channel.
THAT WAS A GREAT REVIEW!!! I love everything you just said!! I personally use the NKJV and love it!! I actually started in the NLT, But the church I go to uses the KVJ so I needed a good middle man 😂 And its been great for me personally! Its helped grow my knowledge in the Lord to eventually inspire me to create a UA-cam of my own!! Granted its nothing special but its been the most full-filling experience of my life so far! Amen brotha 🙏🏻 Keep up the great work!! I love the channel!!
Great video! I had used the NKJV for years as my main translation. I've recently switched to the ESV for base text reasons, and to not have to frequently bounce back and forth from the footnotes and text for the other text readings. But still the NKJV alongside the ESV and NASB when i study.
For years I used the KJV as my main text to study the scriptures and used other Bible translations for comparing verses and passages I found difficult. Now I'm using the ESV as my main text and other translations to cross reference. In fact you got me converted to using the ESV Jason lol I love it so much.
Great video Jason... I love ESV as well but there are a couple of things that give me OCD... Genesis 3:16 rendering Romans 9 heading Matthew 12:47 omitted
People! This man needs more subs. The set-up alone warrants more subs! 🤣🤣 In all seriousness, I love the NKJV. I grew up believing in the KJV only, but as I got older, I expanded my horizons and checked out NKJV and now I love reading the ESV and in school we used NASB for scripture reading during worship. Great video, mah brother!
I found my home in the NKJV when a pastor friend recommended the NKJV in 1985, the year it came out. He basically said, setting aside the readability of the NIV , He’d go with the accuracy of the NKJV , every time. I’ve tried other translations, but the NKJV has all the bells and whistles.
I enjoy the language of the NKJV so poetic without the anachronisms of KJV, currently I use mostly the ESV and when I need help fleshing out the text I use the message( easy to read language), I also appreciate the NASB for pointy academic points, I have a bunch of translations and NKJV is amongst my favorites. I would also like to see your pov on various translations beyond ESV, NASB and NKJV. Love your channel
I’ve been reading the KJV since elementary school and at 55, it is still my main translation. I read and compare a variety of translations. I really like the NKJV, NASB95, and HCSB. Once in a while, I’ll use the NIV, NLT, and ASV1901. For bibles older than the KJV, I read Tyndale’s 1526 New Testament, 1537 Mathew’s Bible, and the 1560 Geneva Bible.
Helpful review! Thanks. I used the NKJV for 21 years (& loved it), then switched to the ESV in 2017. One reason for the change is that, as a pastor, I found that very few people here were using the NKJV. The ESV & NIV are particularly popular here in Australia. I find that the NASB, as good as it is, is used even less (in Australia) than the NKJV. But while now reading & preaching from the ESV, I regularly consult the NKJV & NASB as they are great close-to-literal translations.
Wonderful video. Yes we would love more translation videos. I am an NASB/RSV/ESV guy. Very recently I came across the CEB (Not CSB) translation and to my surprise was quite impressed by it. I had never ever read a more readable version of the English bible, and yet it seems very very literal (at par with ESV I guess, if not more). Would love to hear your thoughts on that.
I have the Charles Stanley Life Principle NKJV bible. It's the one I carry to church and read during the week. While I do bible study I also use the NIV student study bible. Thanks for all your videos.
I grew up with the KJV and memorized many verses in KJV. The NKJV has a similar cadence and I feel at home. Thus, the NKJV is my translation of choice with the ESV and the NASB right next to it. I agree with you concerning the ESV's lack of italics. This was a misstep for Crossway in my opinion. For serious students of the Bible, it is helpful to know what words have been added to the English translation to help with flow and context. You mentioned you wish there was a translation that was a blend of the NKJV and the ESV. Have you looked at the Modern English Version (MEV). It is the newest translation based on the Texus Receptus and was developed by Charisma House, so it should be accepted in your circle of church. Thanks for your videos. You do a great job!
As a senior who grew up with the NKJ I am comfortable with it, but to update myself I have now a side by side with the NKJV. I enjoy my study review of the choice of words used in each version. I also will refer at times to ESV. It all makes my Bible study experience more meaningful and fruitful.
Nice assessment. I grew up on the NKJV and still use it for my primary study Bible (footnotes for days). But I've been trying to use other translations as well. I'm not sure I can ever get myself fully away from the NKJV just cause I'm so familiar with it. But the MEV has caught my attention recently. Have you looked into it at all?
Can't wait for you to do csb in the future. Love ESV NASB CSB and NKJV. I read all 4 very regularly. I think your esv vs NASB was the first video I saw of yours. You handled that and this video very fairly. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on one of my other favorite translations.
I accidentally bought a NKJV with a really good “journaling” margin. I just want room to take notes. I am debating returning but I might keep it and if I get confused look up scripture on YouVersion.
I used the NKJV as a kid. When God finally got me to use the Bible, I had a CSB. I’ve gone from that to a KJV, CJB, TLV, I am currently enjoying God’s word in ESV, and I just got a NLT because I wanted to try it, also the cover was pretty, but I mostly care about the words truly and how accurate they are. I just want to know what all the fuss about the NLT is. I can already tell it may not be my favorite. God bless you brother.
I am a new subscriber. Thank you Jason for all you do. I use ESV electronically because mine is with Strong's Concordance and I love that feature. Physical bible wise, my church uses NIV 2011 or 1984. I love Amplified bible. Will you do a review for those, please? Many thanks.
I am like you I like the ESV, NKJV, and NASB I think the physical shape and materials of the bible helps me decicide what I will on what day. I probably should stay with one, but I keep switching. I found on my shelp a NASB 1978 translation, in black genuine leather and single column, and wow, loving that one for now-crazy I know Jason recommended to stick with one bible and read it for the year-I wish I could do it
I’ve been a Christian for a year and I did start off with KJV but I find it very difficult to understand, my wife had a copy of the NKJV and as I started reading it and it became clear to me. I use NKJV for my personal reading and study but I still read KJV and compare it and I still understand clearly. I think NKJV and KJV is good to me and works for my understanding, as long as you keep God’s word in your heart, that’s all that matters.
Thanks for the review. I've been using the NKJV in my daily/nightly M'Cheyne 1 year Bible reading plan. Into my 5th year of the plan, and I've used a different English translation every year. At 70 years old, with 35 years of Bible reading under my belt, I have read most of the mainline translations. Currently my favorite is the NRSV. I"ve only been using that for devotional reading and study, as a supplement to the NKJV M'Cheyne plan, for the past couple of months. I like it better than the ESV. If you can run across a copy give it a try. There are some choices the translators made that I think are 'unfortunate', but I think it is more accurate than most of what's out there.
I love the nkjv! I found the archaic English in the kjv to be horrid, it's a difficult translation to use in our day and age, especially for us who are not English first language.
Horrid! Come on it s no excuse, I am not English either. You can always look up archaic words in another translation but for Bible Study in depth nothing like the KJV
So far I've only read through maybe 1/4-1/5 of the KJV, but I can count the words I've had to look up on the fingers on one hand. I really like it, the "horrid archaic" language is very accurate, you never have to wonder if the second person is plural or singular, and it is a fixed text that will not be edited again.
@@thumper5832 I say they're really just mocking the language of the day the KJV was written. No one talks that way anymore. If they were mocking God's word they would be mocking the concepts that God portrayed. This is 2 different things. They are really only highlighting the fact that it is old, out of date, language. If we were really supposed to completely defend the language that God's word is, then you should be upset that someone translated it into KJV from original texts.
The NKJV is hands down my favourite translation, and I have read substantial amounts from (quite often most of) most translations! I found it intriguing how we can all think so differently, and so be it, we’re not all meant to be mimics of one another, as long as we are grounded in Biblical truth. Where you said the NKJV is a good transition FROM the KJV. I actually think of the NKJV as a good transition TO the KJV of the Bible - which I love too! I like the ‘old’ language, and the more I read it the more I love it! And the more I understand and glean.
I agree with the spiritual aspect! I use the NKJV and use the ESV study bible for commentary and often when reading the actual text side by side the NKJV somehow would always pierce the heart more lol. I didn’t even realize that’s what I was realizing until I wanted this video.
When I bought a Bible to read after 40 years away from the church, I had a couple of verses that I compared in different translations, and I selected the NRSV. I seem to be a distant outlier from everyone else I know. I do wish that the one time I saw you on live chat I'd remembered to ask what you thought of it. I sure appreciate your perspective. Thanks for your ministry.
Oh! Sure! 😍 I'd left at 17, done something entirely different, and raised my daughter in a pan-theistic home. In her early 30s, she started going to church with a friend from work, and after taking a course at the church, she decided to be baptized. I went to her baptism, and I wanted ... WANTED ... what I saw there. I flew home and bought a Bible the day I got home, and started reading it that day. A coworker of mine took me to church with her, and I started meeting regularly with one of their pastors, who guided my reading and answered my questions. Then during a song on the radio in my car, I realized I DO believe in the resurrection, so I was baptized the week after Easter in 2015. And my daughter flew down to be at my baptism, too. God is good!
they aren't in print with the OT and NT but its digital on an app. I have a hard copy of the NT that's wonderful. talking about the ISV, International Standard Version. Best version I have read.
@@TheWordNerd These are words that have changed their meanings over the years such as how the simple word, "let" is used. Many King James bibles include a dictionary for words that have such archaic meanings. If we know how these meanings have changed then we can avoid being tripped up by them. We KJV lovers have an extra layer to get through before we get the meaning that the translators had in mind.
As a pastor, I transitioned a church from using the KJV to the NKJV. As with any translation, there are issues. By in large it is a great modern King James version that stays relatively close to the text and is easier. I still use it in my preaching today. If I go to a church (not knowing which translation they use), I can get by with the NKJV even though they are still KJV OR use the newer translations. What I mean is that it would be accepted in both venues. When someone asks me, "Which translation is the best?" My replay every time is, "What ever translation you will read." If people won't read the Bible because it is difficult to read or understand, then whatever translation they are using is not good for them. Get a translation that you will read and READ THE BIBLE! Most Christian's problem today is not a translation issue. It is simply that they just don't read the Bible.
Hey Jason - I use the NIV - is that not a good translation? (mostly use to get clarification during study). I primarily use the KJV - i feel guilty if I use anything else.
Question (There's so much complexity to this question ) : What translation of the bible will believers use in the Millennial Reign of Christ? I know, the Word will be with us but it is an interesting thought. I think the answer really answers the question about translations today. As I said it's a complex question.
The NKJV is one of the my 4 favorite translations. I think it's the best translation for close study due to its generous use of manuscripts notes in both the Old and New Testament. To me the NKJV seems to be more literal than the ESV and NASB in many places. It seems that the perception of the NASB being the "most literal" translation is super overstated the more I compare passages in my reading. But be that as it may, the NKJV, ESV, CSB, and NASB are the best 4 overall translations available in my humble opinion. Special shout out to the NIV as well.
I’ve been thinking of changing from Kjv but been told by others nkjv missed the mark. Comments were made but were not specific as to where. Now I can study them side by side. I’ve wanted to go nkjv for several years but was leary (not sure if spelled right) because of what my friend said.
Don't get caught up in what others say. I'm about 50/50 NKJV and KJV and I'd be hard pressed to say that the NKJV misses the mark. I do however miss the thous, thees and ye's. I would really just like to have a KJV like the NKJV but with the thee's, thou's and ye's. The NKJV finishes what feels like incomplete sentences in the KJV. For instance: Romans 7:19-20 NKJV For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. [20] Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. Romans 7:19-20 KJVS For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. [20] Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I don't think the NKJV misses the mark here but adds to it.
Thanks for the reply! I got my wife one for Christmas since she asked for it. It’s nice to read but I’m more an esv/nasb guy too. I was just interested in what you thought!
The King James Version is a good translation and it may be hard to understand at times, but God can give you the understanding you need. Have you ever read the KJV yourself?
I love my kjv but I recently got a njkv to read to understand some things I don't quite get in the kjv. I am going to use it as a reference back to the kjv
My Baptist pastor uses the Old New American Standard Bible (1996). Guess what, the entire congregation uses the NAS Bible. So I HAVE to buy one to read along with the sermons.
Thanks for your video. I tried the ESV and it was a frustrating experience for me. In places it sounds like Yoda. The NASB seems smoother and more elegant. That being said I enjoy the KJV. One advantage is you don't have to buy a new Bible every time some publisher decides to update the text. The KJV is a personal choice, not a knock on your choice or viewpoint. I look forward to seeing your video on your new Cambridge wide margin ESV.
You’re right. Whenever we come across language that’s difficult to understand, we shouldn’t push ourselves to learn and grow. Instead, we should dumb it down. Nothing wrong with that.
There is language that is difficult because it's part of an expansive vocabulary. Then there'd language that's difficult because it missed 6 or 7 iterations of updating into the modern vernacular. I'm assuming that you're King James Only?
Jason Mayfield that’s not the point. I’m engaging with the argument you just presented. You said that difficult words that expand your vocabulary are good. Then you made a distinction that difficult words that are old are therefore not a part of an expansive vocabulary. So, Would you please give me an example of a word in the KJV that you don’t understand and that learning it wouldn’t expand your vocabulary.
My main love is the NASB, but the NKJV is also a great translation. I'd be interested in seeing you rate the CSB next. You'd love it if you haven't already read it. It's an extremely readable version of the NASB if you ask me. Closer to formal than dynamic. That would be a great next review if you're up for it Jason!
I grew up on the KJV. So l transitioned to the NKJV for years I have several differen versions, and greatly prefer the word for word versions, such as ESV, NASB over the dynamic equivalent version. Not for study, but for readability, I like the 1984 NIV. I'm retirement age, and find myself once again going back to the KJV.
Good decision. Nothing like the KJV apart from other previous older translations. All translations since 1881 have omissions with many of them far too many omissions.
@@lizcutajar9352 There is a Bible app called Quick Bible. In it you can read most of the earlier versions, such as Wycliffe NT, Tyndale, Coverdale, Bishops, Geneva. Also some more modern versions. Not a bad app for comparisons. From what I see, all of those older versions contain 1 John 5:7 , as it is in the KJV!
@@shirleygoss1988 Thank you, I have downloaded it .There are some interesting versions I would like to have a look in, some I don't like but it is good to have anyway for quote sake and the older versions you mentioned are really great to have easy access to :)
L. Bryant. The MEV is a good version to read. That said, I do not think it can touch the NKJV.! As an aside, I do not care for the more gender neutral versions, although I use some for reference. I have most all English versions on my phone. I really really dislike the Message paraphrase. It doesn't feel like scripture to me.
I don’t read nor speak 17th century english, though the KJV does have several verses that sound great in KJV. I think my rapidly marked up NKJV is marvelous for clarifying NIV when I find something in NIV that I just can’t accept. I use NIV a lot for its plain English. But I think I should use ESV more for that. I did chose NKJV after a lot of thought and pray. At least in English KJV was the first real collection of the Word of God. NKJV just updated it so my modern mind could understand stand. 500 hundred years from know (assuming Christ hasn’t returned yet) my NKJV will probably be considered impossibly old fashion.
Great video! I totally understand the ‘sounds more spiritual’ thing. I’m a NKJV guy, partly for that very reason. Some of the verses by the NKJV seems to better capture the intent of the writer (at least in my opinion). Compare 1John 3:1 for example, the NKJV is just beautiful in comparison to the ESV. The ESV text sounds as if John is half asleep 😁
Nice video. I personally have issues understanding parts of the NKJV, based upon its grammar. In any case, I prefer to the NLT to all other translations.
I love the KJV for the OT. NT is tough because it's so dense already with Paul's language skills. Other than the Pauline letters though for the most part, I actually love the KJV.
I love the KJV the NKJV the ESV and the NASB but I think we have enough translations in english, should we not be focused on the rest of the world now?
Why I use the NKJV. I prefer to use both Greek sources. The Byzantine, TR and the Alexandrian, or Critical textual sources. For my carrying and casual reading I prefer a bible with the TR as its source. The NKJV and back are those bibles. I like the 1599 GENEVA Bible. The Bishops bible. The Tyndale 1537 New Testament. The last bible to use that source is the NKJV. I also have and use critical text bibles. ESV, NASB95, SCSB, NRSV. It boils down to my proclivity of wanting to have the more data, and then my wanting to pick out the wheat from the tares. William Tyndale's NT is wonderful! His notes are there too! Its called THE OCTOBER TESTAMENT.
Well done on this video. I know you can't really say it here but KING JAMES ONLYISM is a cult that's not to say there's anything wrong with the kjv but it's what people make it that's the problem... But KJV is a good translation it's great!😊 Good video
@@PastorPeewee20 Scofield and his reference notes were heretical. The holy scriptures by the mouth of God prophesied what and when the things were to happen. They would in no way be way out 2000 years in the future. In fact many times Jesus Himself said that the things He prophesied were to happen in that generation, the one that was literally physically standing in front of Him. He said that even His coming was to occur while some of His disciples were still alive. MT 16:27,28. MT 10:23. Scofield believe that all these things would be way out in the future, which completely destroys the integrity, validity, and truth of God's word. Futuristic dispensationalism comes through this man's Reference Bible printed for the first time in 1909. It came from the teachings of Charles Nelson Darby beginning in 1831. The scriptures do not teach this point of view. I'm guessing you won't agree with this, but I do ask that you at least look up both Charles Nelson Darby and C.I. Scofield online for their heretical teachings that are not scriptural.
@@PastorPeewee20 I agree with you as well that the scriptures are indeed the same. The problem is that the Scofield notes introduce a false, futurist, dispensational interpretation of the scriptures, which they do not teach. Case in point: MT 16:27,28 clearly says that the coming of the Lord would occur while some of His disciples were still alive. Yet Scofield's notes would differ from that, teaching a yet future fulfillment, defiling the scriptures. Scofield was a heretic and has done more harm to the modern Church than any other single person in history.
I love the NKJV! And if anyone wants to see some reviews of some NKJVs they can hop over to my channel. Great video. I look forward to seeing the KJV video.
I love the KJV, I understand it so much better. However I do really like the ESV as well. There is also another translation base off the TR being the MEV(modern english version). Its not too bad, could use an update but I think the translators did a good job.
As a Catholic, I lean towards the "Revised Standard." That was the only BIBLE accepted by Catholics, Anglicans, Eastern Orthodox, and many Protestants. But the "New King James" really isn't so bad. I would certainly recommend the "New King James" over the terrible "New International" and horrible "New Revised Standard."
Thanks,RDD. First of all, my comment wasn't meant to be an insult to anyone. When I was in school, I struggled for every "C" I got.No offense to anyone, or their preferred translation, but I'm standing firm with the 100% perfect Word of God, the KJV. I could write several pages of possible convincing "arguments" (I don'tmean to argue, but debate is a better word) in support of the KJV, including the easiness to understanding it. (NO ONE UNDERSTANDS ALL OF IT, THEREFORE THE NEW TRANSLATIONS COULD HAVE ERRORS) Here is a fact...the English language has approximately 171,450 words. The KJV uses approximately 8,000 of them, not counting names of people and places. Of these 8,000, the vast majority are simple one to three syllable words that that we all learn the definitions of before the 6th grade. God bless you all, and keep studying the Ninle version of your choice, but I recommend the KJV.
While I agree the main modern translations we find in Evangelical churches are good, even excellent, and I wouldn't dissuade anyone from using them, especially if that person has to read one for a Bible class or his church uses. It certainly isn't worth causing divisions over or leaving a church over. Yet I don't agree a reader needs to "update" to one of those translations if a person loves the language and majestic poetry of the KJV or NKJV and is reading it in his own devotion time. I find it odd students read "Romeo and Juliet" in high school without too great an effort; yet, somehow, struggle with the KJV as if they are reading Beowulf in the original Old English without glosses. Side note: update sounds too Bible of the Month Club mentality-- too prone to the seduction of marketing. When a Bible reader sits down with a KJV, he is reading the same words John Wesley, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, General Booth, and Aimee Semple McPherson were moved by The Holy Spirit while reading.
I must say this: when I read hateful comments from christians, it's almost always coming from "kjv only" fanatics. If anyone hates his brother in Christ, that is NOT a born again christian
Agreed! The main reason I so enjoy the Nelson NKJV! Those notes on the various textual differences! I'm a bible version nerd! I desire that a lot.

Not much... but I have a friend who loves it.
This was a good and informative video 😊 I anticipate the one on the KJV!
NKJV is my #1 ❤️
I am like you I like the ESV, NKJV, and NASB I think the physical shape and materials of the bible helps me decicide what I will on what day. I probably should stay with one, but I keep switching. I found on my shelp a NASB 1978 translation, in black genuine leather and single column, and wow, loving that one for now-crazy I know
Jason recommended to stick with one bible and read it for the year-I wish I could do it
I do like the NKJV. Makes the higher poetical nature of KJV more accessible I think.
I'm Mo Zahir مسيحي 7777 Are you joking or being sarcastic?
3:20 - That smile you make when you know that you’ve angered some folks.
You saw too.
@lizvutajar..how do you look up words that you dont know that you don't know? Just asking..Toni's husband
You just can’t beat the variety of ESV options out there.
I want a double column personal size, but they are all single.
Hunter Adams there is an ESV large print personal size in double column which several ppl really like a lot
Couldst ye doest a reveiwist of thy NIV.
Rodney Spears 😂
Rodney Spears 😂
Dear neybour, why wouldst thou make funeth of the NIV
No, let’s all mock the word of God together!
Lori Louise Lawrence I’d love to hear the story of how you came back to church after 40 years away.
Oh! Sure! 😍
I'd left at 17, done something entirely different, and raised my daughter in a pan-theistic home.
Lori Louise Lawrence wow! Thanks for sharing. That’s awesome!
they aren't in print with the OT and NT but its digital on an app. I have a hard copy of the NT that's wonderful. talking about the ISV, International Standard Version. Best version I have read.
Good comments. I love the NKJ. It does help us with most of the "False Friends" words that are in the KJV. God bless.
I'm curious on what do you mean by false Friends words LOL
@@TheWordNerd These are words that have changed their meanings over the years such as how the simple word, "let" is used. Many King James bibles include a dictionary for words that have such archaic meanings. If we know how these meanings have changed then we can avoid being tripped up by them. We KJV lovers have an extra layer to get through before we get the meaning that the translators had in mind.
KJV is still widely used here in the UK.
Love it! You should get a NKJV just to try for a bit. I don’t think you’ll switch for good but it could be interesting.
I use and love NKJV. I cut my teeth on NIV (1984), switched to ESV, but ended up preferring NKJV for most of the reasons you cite in your video.
Daniel Sell. For personal readability, the 1984 NIV , is nice. Do not care for the 2011 at all.
Too many omissions in many translations like NIV
Question (There's so much complexity to this question ) : What translation of the bible will believers use in the Millennial Reign of Christ? I know, the Word will be with us but it is an interesting thought. I think the answer really answers the question about translations today. As I said it's a complex question.
I personally never read any other than the NKJV. I love it
Great choice..Blessings
Just purchased a MEV journaling bible and would like to see a video comparing it with the NKJV since both are an “updated TR and Masoretic OT” Bible.
For instance:
Romans 7:19-20 NKJV
For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. [20] Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
Romans 7:19-20 KJVS
For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. [20] Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
I don't think the NKJV misses the mark here but adds to it.
Can you share your thoughts on the passion translation?
I think it’s not a translation. It would be a fine devotional or commentary tho.
Thanks for the reply! I got my wife one for Christmas since she asked for it. It’s nice to read but I’m more an esv/nasb guy too. I was just interested in what you thought!
@@DanielRevolt chek out Mike winger on UA-cam and then search for the passion translation on his channel.
Br. Jason I started with NIV and then NLT and now I like Nasb and Esv.. Love from India
Excellent review!
The King James Version is a good translation and it may be hard to understand at times, but God can give you the understanding you need.
Have you ever read the KJV yourself?
Its the only good translation in English .
I love my kjv but I recently got a njkv to read to understand some things I don't quite get in the kjv. I am going to use it as a reference back to the kjv
A good alternative is to get a good KJV Study bible that has the King James word dictionary to help define some of the Old King James terms.
How does this guy only have 15k subs? He should have a lot more in my opinion
The CSB study Bible is pretty good.
that's the main Bible that i use
I LOVE the CSB
Pretty good? You cant have ok it has to be accurate and true
Jason Mayfield like what for example.
@@thumper5832 I'm assuming your King James Only...?
Jason Mayfield that’s not the point. I’m engaging with the argument you just presented. You said that difficult words that expand your vocabulary are good. Then you made a distinction that difficult words that are old are therefore not a part of an expansive vocabulary.
So, Would you please give me an example of a word in the KJV that you don’t understand and that learning it wouldn’t expand your vocabulary.
@@thumper5832 Oh sorry... you thought there was an argument to engage in. I don't try to reason with you folks. I'm officially checking out.
I'm retirement age, and find myself once again going back to the KJV.
shirley goss I started off reading the NIV and switched over to the KJV and loving it!! Maybe in the future might try the Nasb
@@shirleygoss1988 Thank you will have a look at it :)
@@shirleygoss1988 Thank you, I have downloaded it .There are some interesting versions I would like to have a look in, some I don't like but it is good to have anyway for quote sake and the older versions you mentioned are really great to have easy access to :)
I love the NKJV it's my favorite translation
Have you looked into the MEV? It's a beautiful read, same style as KJV but so much more readable.
Hi Jason, have you made a video on the CSB already? Would love to hear your take on it.
I Read the KJV but I Love the NKJV, NASB, ESV I switch from time to time I might fully settle with reading the NKJV
The only reason I no longer read the NKJV is that it's based on older transcripts. But otherwise it's a good translation.
I decided I would choose NKJV and NASB as other translation but I cant find quality bible as esv!
As a non English native speaker I love the NKJV, I really like the English. My wife prefers the ESV though :)
No... I can say it... and I have. It's a cult. lol
@@TearUpYourBible 🤣 🙏😅 God Bless
It is a cult indeed. And there are many different kjvo cults. The nifb is one.
What makes loving the KJV a cult?
@Scott Bair Does it make any difference to you if a translation leaves out God's words?
I love the NKJV, but I can also have a Bible Study with the KJV.
What is your thoughts on the Scofield nkjv? His beliefs in it?
I will not have a Scofield in my house! It's heretical! Futurism is anathema!
@@makarov138 mind explaining please?
@@makarov138 totally agree there but the scripture is same
@@PastorPeewee20 I agree with you as well that the scriptures are indeed the same.
Best translation is one that added Gods name back in where it was in manuscripts 7000 times
Cool!
I'd love to see the KJV video.
Tl;dr - he's in the "Bible of the month" club.
There’s a Bible of the month club?
As a Catholic, I lean towards the "Revised Standard." That was the only BIBLE accepted by Catholics, Anglicans, Eastern Orthodox, and many Protestants. But the "New King James" really isn't so bad. I would certainly recommend the "New King James" over the terrible "New International" and horrible "New Revised Standard."
I for one can't understand why kjv only people don't like the nkjv, but they hate it.
Can't go wrong with a NKJV. Psalm 110 in the NKJV is just too good!
Yes. I agree NKJV is a good translation. But I'll go further to say it's the best translation next to the KJV itself. But then again I'm a TR guy.
WOW look at that someone put a thumbs down 😂😂😂😂 someone was really offended at this. 🤦🏼♂️
It’s the norm... I post and some people thumbs down just for that 😂
While I agree the main modern translations we find in Evangelical churches are good, even excellent, and I wouldn't dissuade anyone from using them, especially if that person has to read one for a Bible class or his church uses.
I agree with the sounding more spiritual!! I get it!! It’s so true!! 😂😂😂
I love the nasb1995 and nkjv a lot .
But I think the nasb 2020 is not good enough.
I use the nkjv,esv,sacred name
Another super video. Thank you! And ooooooh boyyyyyyy....can’t wait for your KJV video. May have to wear protective gear when the KJVOs see it!! 🤣😂
I must say this: when I read hateful comments from christians, it's almost always coming from "kjv only" fanatics. If anyone hates his brother in Christ, that is NOT a born again christian
90% of the time, on these types of videos, you're absolutely correct.
AND they're typically long and copy/pasted onto several videos at once lol
