      Just don’t halve the pinned distance. That would probably do the trick.

    • @marissagriffin2958
      @marissagriffin2958 13 днів тому +9

      All you would have to do is change where you pin your shirt. Find where you would like your shirt to land.Then half the distance of that with a pin on both sides. Try on the shirt. Repeat until you are happy with the results. The reason you are going to half the size of where you are cutting is so that you can always cut more but if you try to add fabric back it will look odd at best bad at worst. I hope this helps you with your shirt or shirts. I hope you have a great day.

      Fabric scissors are abt 20 dollars and can be found at Michaels or most fabric stores. If thats to much, you can also try and sharpen craft scissors, but im not sure how to do that.

    ANGELINA I can't express how you've allowed my creativeness to flow. I finally did your blazer cape last night for the event I had tonight. I got some compliments. Keep'em coming.
    By the way, I'm totally loving Janome 1522. What an upgrade!!! Thanks for the recommendation. I believe I'll have the art of sewing to add to my bag of creativity, and will share the skill with my daughters.

    Make sure to finish your shirts to make them last longer.
    To surge them, use a surger, the zigzag stitch on a sewing machine, or hand sew the zigzag or blanket stitch on the edge.
    To hem them, cut 2 cm less then you want your shirt to end up. Then turn it inside out, fold the cut portion over twice, and sew with a straigh stitch, by hand or machine.
    To use a binding strip, find bias tape or a strip of fabric, fold the edges in, and sew it on top of your shirt, folding it over the raw edge.
    Great tutorial!
