I have this cd. Loretta said when Doo told her he couldn't hear the music anymore. She thought he meant he couldn't hear. But he was referring to life. He knew they wouldn't be sharing life/her career together. Doo died not long after saying those words. Doo had some health issues caused by his drinking habits with alcohol. Loretta wrote a beautiful song. The whole album is great. Loretta loved Doo til the day she died. She never remarried or dated anyone. Saw an interview with Peggy or Patsy(daughters) that before Loretta died she said Doo was there in the room to waiting for her to go to Heaven. If you want to get to know Loretta better, there are tons of interviews with Loretta on yt. With Loretta what you saw is what you always got. BEAUTIFUL LADY INSIDE & OUT! I do miss her! It's gonna be a sad day when singers l gew up listening to like Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker, Donna Fargo, Connie Smith, Barbara Mandrell & so many other female Legends in Country Music leave us. And I haven't even mentioned the guys.😢

Thank you Don I was so stunned that you did this I’ve never had a request by anyone played. This song was about her husband who passed away. Now they are both United once again and they both can hear the music. Again thank you so much Don for listening to this.

That’s what country music is. LIFE and death.

The distant shore refers to Heaven. This is about her late husband Doolittle.

I remembered this one dearly, but I had to look up the date. From Wikipedia: In 1996, Lynn's husband, Oliver Vanetta "Doolittle" Lynn, died five days short of his 70th birthday. In 2000, Lynn released her first album in several years, Still Country, in which she included "I Can't Hear the Music", a tribute song to her late husband. Thanks you Kathy for this wonderful request, it is truly a fabulous song by one the best ever. Thanks Don for the terrific reaction!

Thank you Cathy, or Kathy, for such a great request. I had tears in my eyes about 2 lines in. Her older voice was very poignant for this song. Great reaction Don. Nothing new for you.

Damn it. I lost my mom a few years ago and many of these lyrics hurt. Losing my mom also gave me a random fear of losing my husband. They are/were the two rocks in my life. I’m definitely missing the music that my mom brought to my life. Nobody can replace that. Nobody can replace my husband either.
