I FREAKING LOVE THIS SONG! JLL COUNTRY STUFF IS SO UNDERRATED!! all of his music is. I definitely recommend "she still comes around (to love what's left of me)" its one of my all time favs of his!
One of my favorite Jerry Lee's songs. Also "Middle Age Crazy". I always loved "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" , but when I heard Jerry Lee sing it I understood when he said "why oh why can't I"
Magnificent. Probably the best of the bunch. Just couldn’t get out of his own way. His gospel collabs and all Of his gospel are collabs are transcendent. How it’s done. I’m not even a believer but I listen often.
Jerry Lee Lewis is one of those artists, so rich that every time you listen to them again after a pause it hits you like the first time. He was a vocal master in several genres, rock'n'roll, country, blues, soul... and a genius autodidactic piano player. This song is one of his greatest vocal performances, just not the best version of it out there. He has a place among the greatest musical artists.
One of the first songs he recorded when he left rock for country. If memory serves me right, the song was written by Mickey Newberry. I was a kid back then circa 1968.
Jerry Lee played Country just as well as he played Rock 'n Roll, both in ballads and up-tempo numbers. The left-hand solo in 'You Win Again' is fantastic. I greatly prefer his covers of 'You Can Have Her' and 'Games People Play' to the originals and even other covers.
😢WOW what a song by Jerry Lee, he had so many great country songs it's ridiculous, but Man if buddy played on those tune's tell him I said "THANKS" they were great song's, hey Don, I don't know if you've reacted to it or not but Jerry's, cousin Mickey Gilley, had a great song called "I OVER LOOKED A ORCHARD" give it a try please. Thanks IT WAS WRITTEN BY MICKEY NEWBERRY, hey Don, I went back and checked you've already reacted to Mickey Gilley's song
Thank you for this selection Don. Gotta love a guy who made it ok to marry your underage cousin 🤣🤣🤣 The song was written by Doug Gilmore and Mickey Newbury and released in 1970. I am noticing a trend everything you pick gets a high rating and our staff is crap in your mind. But thanks for your reaction
Wow, just goes to show that even if you think you have listened to alot and at least half know your musical history... you really haven't and really don't. :-D I never new Jerry Lee Lewis did this. To me this has always been a Mickey Newbury and Kenny Rogers song. :-D But I know how it is, you hear a first version, and then perhaps miss others.
Douglas Gilmore and the inimicable Mickey Newberry. Nobody writes like Newberry. I asked you for this years ago. What a song. Jerry Lee was great. Ronnie Milsap does an awesome cover of this.

The first line that just tears your guts out. " Baby's packed her Soft Things, and she's left me."
That "pity in their eyes" line strikes.

You picked a great one. The best showman of his generation.
Rock and Roll hall of famer, but it is songs like this is why he is also in the Country Music Hall of Fame. 9.5 is about right.
Mickey Gilly did a really nice song about. I overlooked an orchid while looking for a rose. It’s really pretty.
Another super choice Don! Written by Douglas Gilmore and Mickey Newbury, released in 1970. Thanks!
Another great Jerry Lee song from this era is I Can Still Hear the Music In the Restroom
Wow, The Ed Sullivan show! Video is really good quality. I wish all video from this time period was as well preserved.

React to Ed Bruce's live version. Ed wrote the song and is my favorite version.
Do Jerry Lee Lewis' "Touching Home". It's great.

I wore out his country albums.
