God I loved infectonator. Spent damn near weeks playing through the myriads of them. Shame that I was godawful and never managed to finish a single game though.
Hey, I'm Kris too-the same EvilKris behind Rebuild 2 (gfx) and The Insanity (the lesser-known one). Just crawled out of the shadows to say-besides the Last Stand series and Exmortis, your game was one of the few that made me wish I’d thought of it first. Absolute masterpiece, man. Beautiful pixel art. Played it for weeks! Stoked to see you’re still in the game industry.
I remember having a great time with Infectonator Survivors. In fact anything that has "zombies" and "survival" in it my younger self would just eat it up
I remember there was also a spin-off that was set in a fantasy world. Also I'm really looking forward to the Feudalism video, the second one was probably my favorite flash game.
Yeah I remember that, I think its called Necronator. It's plays like zombinator with more RTS controls to it. The sequel was pretty good as well but is radically different and unfortunately without the pixel art. It leans even more to the RTS side but with lanes between the bases. For both games if you dont want to micro you can just turn on auto so your troops move around themselves.
Lets see uhh we can have: Zombotron series, earth taken series, City siege series, Strike force heroes series, Endless war series, Bunnies flags, The whole nitrome catalog Toges other infectonator called necronator Those i remember at the top of my head
For a another flash Franchise to cover that is still ongoing would be Epic battle fantasy series It has 5 main games I think 3 spin offs So there is a lot to cover there
It's in the general pool notepad at the end of the video which means there could be a video of that later. Would be crazy to see a flash game that I have put over 300 hours into (including full version ofc) in action
Did you know that the Colony and Epic War communities are still alive and kicking? Both have their Discord servers; the EW people bought back the licence and are remasterizing the series; the Colony ones have their own server for mp games and hold regular tournaments.
I've never been a big Colony guy, but hearing that Epic War is still alive and kicking fills my heart with joy. Definitely one of my favourite flash franchises, up there with Epic Battle Fantasy and Sonny.
I'd like to recommend Taur, a game that truly hits all the right notes. From its intricately designed towers and diverse range of units to the challenging variety of enemies, every aspect of Taur makes you feel like a pivotal player. Strategizing with your main tower to fend off enemies before they breach your troop lines is a thrilling experience. On the other hand, Infectonator had me on edge at times, as I eneded up in a state where a single misstep could lead to a catastrophic loss as I found myself unable to get enough normal zombies to buy special zombies. shout out to jason though
Awesome video! It's a nice brief overview on a series I really enjoyed playing when I was younger. I do have a bit to say about Infectonator 3 though. I really do have to agree with you on the challenges, especially the crafting zombies one since it just forces you to use those numerous regular zombies that have a really versatile use for a lot of upgrades. It feels pretty limiting and it especially doesn't feel good since it's in the game with the most variety with it's zombies. One important note I'll add is that the game during it's initial launch state was much more difficult then what it was today. To a point where the most notable complaint about the game was that it was too difficult so they lowered the difficulty in response. I do think ultimately it was a good choice because I remember most of my strategy for the late game was spawning a zombie, luring all the humans with weapons and then when they clumped around the zombie's dead body, I dropped the bomb that infects killed humans. This was a strategy you kinda had to do in order to win. One idea I had to do instead was use the berserk zombies as they are broken if they survive with low health. However I didn't have much time to experiment with that before the difficulty revamp. I do think that the Infectonator series still has a lot more that can be expanded since I feel like if you're not already into the series, Infectonator 3 can get stale in 2-3 runs. I think my main problem is that most of the stages feel the same gameplay wise despite the different visuals representing the locations you are infecting. This is due to every single location having the same response to the zombies as every single location gets police, SWAT, military, increased health, armed civilians etc. Having regions contain unique enemies or other mechanics could vary things immensely especially if they aren't always the same for each run. I do think you could have some interesting challenges such as having low population density as you can't snowball as fast. Or having a location with a bunch of armed humans but a high population density so that way you choose a location where there isn't that many armed humans to diffuse your snowball. Infectonator 3 is still a really fantastic game I've put a good chunk of hours into. But I do feel like it there's still so much more to be done with the idea. If there is an Infectonator 4, I hope they address some of these things to truly create the peak of the series as there are more things I do want to talk about. But if I did this comment would be a bit too long. Anyway great stuff here and hopefully my comment brought some more insight regarding Infectonator 3!
If we're suggesting things, I think you might want to give a look to "Change: A Homeless survival experience". It's title describe itself really well, and I think it's gameplay conveys its message really well.

Hooking on that, can you talk about Arkuni games or maybe Scriptwelder? Specially Arkuni, since I play The Final Deathwish and Versus Umbra to this day. In any case, keep up the good content. Always bring me joy to see those videos, keeping alive something truly good.
I don't know if the creators made other games but "Tower of Doom" was always fun. Doesn't hurt that the soundtrack is just the best song from castle crashers on loop.
Zombie Night Terror is also good game where you get to play as a zombie horde by guiding the mindless drones through a series of puzzles and gradually let the zombie apocalpyse unfold. Starting with the inital outbreak from a bad batch of drugs, which slowly spirals out of control as more and more people are infected, until you're picking off the last human survivors in a walking dead style setting.
I really liked Infectonator Survivors which was why i got so damn angry when it was basically turned into Abandonware and we were left High and Dry on a lot of promised content.
I played the world domination version a lot while an friend was watching, and the other way around. Loved that game. I did buy way later the Steam version and in that i also tried to avoid the limited zombies and mostly used the main ones and heroes
Dude, I am looking for a specific flash game, maybe you would know it. It is a 2D platformer, you play some guy in a bunny mascot suit and you are fighting some type of enemies. Maybe this game might be good to review? "Xenos". The title name is formed from disconnected white squares, in the shape of the letters. It's a unique one for sure with some interesting concepts, designs, controls and gameplay style, and it seems to use 3D art compacted into 2d sprites. Can still be surprisingly punishing, but there's nice combos and details of weapons. Few videos exist on YT about it, and basically zero commentary gameplay.
Idk if someone has suggested this to put on your list of game, but did you ever play House of Wolves? It was really high quality start but unfortunately it never really when anywhere (Young me didn't care though). There was going to be a second game but I'm pretty sure that's never going to happen, a shame.
I love Infectonator, but I would also like a sequel for Infectonator Survivors. Cause the game was good. Main Issue is that it was a completed game and after few months playing it, it gets boring.
for me my biggest problem with this game when I played it it's too short I enjoyed it but I completed it within like 3 hours on the third one the only one I played of it so far

Question: Why would you think a big Triple-A studio would have made a detailed game about playing as the zombie horde? Because what is interesting about the zombie hordes for the majority of players, is not... well... managing a horde, but rather shooting them in the head. Even Zombie Apocalypse survivor simulators (even though I hear a ton about players saying they want that, until they actually play one). Triple A usually focus on things that are relatively safe, something they know will be a hit.
God I loved infectonator. Spent damn near weeks playing through the myriads of them. Shame that I was godawful and never managed to finish a single game though.
