There's a cave painting of him as a cub in the episode where he was mentioned being rescued by the Lion Guard of that time. He has golden fur, white muzzle and a reddish tuft for a mane. In the same episode, Kion's friends thought that the cave painting was representing him before Rafiki told the entire story of Nala's father and his grandfather.

I truly like this theory, but the only problem is, the books aren't technically cannon meaning if you'd like to use the books then yes this would probably be accurate but what this guy is trying to do is use the deleted and fully animated cannon scenes to make sense of the timeliness and family tree.

tbh im a strong beleiver that Kovu was fathered by a male lion who was from the Night Pride(?) or in the very least his birth mother was probably from the Night Pride and Zira just took him in. It was stated in the Lion King 2 that Scar wasn't Kovu's father. But I do know that there is a theory that Vitani isn't Zira's daughter but Nala's because their eyes (irises) are a very similar shade of blue. And because the original Lion King, Disney planned on having Scar try to hit up Nala, she could have gotten pregnant from him and then had Vitani. But when Simba takes over Pride Rock, Nala gives Vitani to Zira because of the painful reminder of who Vitani's father is. Especially because in Lion King 2, with the Lioness Fight scene, Vitani is straight up savage with Nala and it could just be more of a her anger from being abandoned for a "better daughter".

I have the theory of Vitani being Nala and Scar's child. That creepy scene with Scar was true, and she became pregnant, gave birth to Vitani, possibly not acknowledging her as her daughter, fled from Pride Rock to the jungles, and then after the whole ordeal with Simba defeating Scar, Zira and some other lions was banished to the badlands, and Zira took Vitani with her because she is Scar's child and Nala does not want anything to do with her.

It’s possible that Kovu and Vitani are older than Kiara by a few months at most in the case of Kovu. According to Nuka and Zira; Scar was the one who took Kovu in, likely gave him to Zira to raise, and claimed him as his successor all of which had to have happened before Scar’s death if he acknowledged the cub as his own. That could apply to Vitani’s situation as well because I don’t see Zira going out of her way to raise a cub that wasn’t hers unless it had some connection to Scar.

It has been confirmed that Scar is NOT Kovu's father. And there would be other surviving cubs during Scar's reign as king. Zira is likely close in age to Simba and Nala. There would be no lions left if they were all the same age as Sirabi by the end of the first movie since she didn't appear in the second movie. So in order for there to be a pride in the second movie there has to have been lions who were cubs with Simba and Nala or born early in Scar's reign.
For Vitani I think she might have been the daughter of Nala do to the pink nose. Zira and Scar both don’t have pink noses and Vitani has similar fur to Nala. The dark around the eyes could be from Scar as well so Nala must have given Vitani to Zira but she could also be the daughter of some other lioness. The pink nose doesn’t seem like it would just happen but I could be wrong.

Honestly, I don't know why it didn't occur to me that Vitani was possibly younger then Kovu. I always assumed she was the same age or a bit older then him. Mostly because Zira seemed to baby Kovu. If he and Vitani were the same age, or Vitani was younger, why did Kovu have a "bed time" in My Lullaby? Zira put Kovu to bed, but Vitani was allowed to stay awake. If she was younger or the same age, I assumed she would have been treated similarly. It was clear Zira hardly cared for Nuka, but she seemed to respect Vitani at least, so neglecting her fully didn't seem like an option at the time. So in your theory Kovu and Kiara are half siblings. Would work if Disney would've actually built the family tree around how real Lions procreate. Theoretically every cub on Pride Rock is fathered by Mufasa and later Simba. Scar fathered all cubs in his reign and whenever the king changes all cubs get killed by the new king. Also males get exiled and aren't next in line. Disney wanted them human like so even though the theory is nice it's wrong simply because it's a movie for children.
The books are not canon. Just the movies and The Lion Guard. I saw a video a while back that the author never got permission from Disney to use their name. And states that his books are not canon. So anything that happened in any of the books isn't true. So all these extra lions are not actually related. Nala's father has a red mane, but it is never stated in the Lion Guard what his name was. That is why Disney was good with letting Simba and Nala get together. There was also an interview with the Disney writers and directors stating that Kovu and Kira are not related. So Kovu is not Scars son. We don't know who his father is because it was never stated in the movie or the Lion Guard.
I dont think scar had to many cubs due to the pride lands falling into his horrible state and if he had sons he would have chased them off when they became of age to breed . The female cubs may have died off due to having not much food or the pack killing them

Kovu wasn't Scar's kid. Nuka even comments on this at one point in the Lion King 2. he mentioned that Zira found Kovu and took him in. in the musical version, there was a cut scene that put Scar having fathered Vitani with Nala. as for Kovu, he was either found by Zira and Scar, or Zira simply kidnapped him from another pride.
I believe that Zira isn't his biological mother and she and Scar didn't know who's child he was so ofc they let him know that he was an orphan and that most likely chose him bcuz he looked more in shape than Nuka and looked more like Scar than him
Though, I theorise that Kovu's mom is from the Pride Lands, either Sarabi, Nala or another lioness and that they abandoned him and sometime later Scar or Zira found him

tbh im a strong beleiver that Kovu was fathered by a male lion who was from the Night Pride(?) or in the very least his birth mother was probably from the Night Pride and Zira just took him in. Scar possibly did father Nuka with Zira being Nuka's mom) and since the scene where Scar came onto Nala was semi-canon (I say semi-canon because it was a deleted scene that was added in the broadway version), Scar ffathered Viani with Nala being the mom but Nala abandoned Vitani or Vitani was probably stolen by Zira. But I do know that there is a theory that Vitani isn't Zira's daughter but Nala's because their eyes (irises) are a very similar shade of blue. And because the original Lion King, Disney planned on having Scar try to hit up Nala, she could have gotten pregnant from him and then had Vitani. But when Simba takes over Pride Rock, Nala gives Vitani to Zira because of the painful reminder of who Vitani's father is. Especially because in Lion King 2, with the Lioness Fight scene, Vitani is straight up savage with Nala and it could just be more of a her anger from being abandoned for a "better daughter".

I have the theory of Vitani being Nala and Scar's child. That creepy scene with Scar was true, and she became pregnant, gave birth to Vitani, possibly not acknowledging her as her daughter, fled from Pride Rock to the jungles, and then after the whole ordeal with Simba defeating Scar, Zira and some other lions was banished to the badlands, and Zira took Vitani with her because she is Scar's child and Nala does not want anything to do with her.
Nala is not Scar's mate because she hates him and they're not in the same generation, Vitani is only, only, only, only, and only Zira's and no one else's child, Vitani is not adopted

Although she couldn't stand it, it was a normal occurrence in the lion hierarchy as he was the pride's male lion. Furthermore, the fact that they are just one generation apart is not strange.

Kovu, Kiara, and Vitani are all from the same generation. Her eyes are a brilliant violet-blue, and her fur is creamy golden with undertones of black. Zira has nearly beige-brown fur and dark orange eyes. Nala has creamy gold fur and blue eyes that lean towards purple. And Scar, who has stunning green eyes and orange fur with black undertones.

It’s possible that Kovu and Vitani are older than Kiara by a few months at most in the case of Kovu. According to Nuka and Zira; Scar was the one who took Kovu in, likely gave him to Zira to raise, and claimed him as his successor all of which had to have happened before Scar’s death if he acknowledged the cub as his own. That could apply to Vitani’s situation as well because I don’t see Zira going out of her way to raise a cub that wasn’t hers unless it had some connection to Scar.

It has been confirmed that Scar is NOT Kovu's father. And there would be other surviving cubs during Scar's reign as king. Zira is likely close in age to Simba and Nala. There would be no lions left if they were all the same age as Sirabi by the end of the first movie since she didn't appear in the second movie. So in order for there to be a pride in the second movie there has to have been lions who were cubs with Simba and Nala or born early in Scar's reign.
For Vitani I think she might have been the daughter of Nala do to the pink nose. Zira and Scar both don’t have pink noses and Vitani has similar fur to Nala. The dark around the eyes could be from Scar as well so Nala must have given Vitani to Zira but she could also be the daughter of some other lioness. The pink nose doesn’t seem like it would just happen but I could be wrong.

Honestly, I don't know why it didn't occur to me that Vitani was possibly younger then Kovu. I always assumed she was the same age or a bit older then him. Mostly because Zira seemed to baby Kovu. If he and Vitani were the same age, or Vitani was younger, why did Kovu have a "bed time" in My Lullaby? Zira put Kovu to bed, but Vitani was allowed to stay awake. If she was younger or the same age, I assumed she would have been treated similarly. It was clear Zira hardly cared for Nuka, but she seemed to respect Vitani at least, so neglecting her fully didn't seem like an option at the time. But it also didn't make sense to me that if she was the same age, why Scar would have chosen Kovu over her, unless it was simply because Kovu was a male... even though Simba had no issues making Kiara the queen and Kion left the Pride Lands.

I strongly believe Kovu is Scar’s cub and they only down played it because of the cousin thing, but that’s animals for you. But it also doesn’t make sense if he is the same age as Kiara and Kiara wasn’t alive during Scar’s life. The movie itself makes no sense because of that because then Kovu would be a whole year or more than Kiara. Shows you that the writers weren’t thinking. Kovu is absolutely not scar's son. He is raised by zira (which is his adoptive mother, not biological), and Scar is not the mate of Zira, and Zira's biological cubs are only Nuka and Vitani, not Kovu, even tho Kovu grew up with them. Neither Nuka, Vitani, or Kovu are Scar's cubs. The reason Kovu's name is Kovu is because of the scar on his face
I do believe that Kovu actually is Scars unbeknownst to either of them. Lets say for eg that when scar was king he trcked nala into having his wicked way with her and so on the first gilm when she goes in search for help and finds Simba she was already pregnant, when he refuses she goes off alone and goes into labour delivering Kofu alone, she feels riddled with guilt yet also feels deeply ashamed for having given birth to the heir of scar deciding that she couldnt keep the cub she safely places him in a spot where hopefully he eill be found by someone who will care for him as she loves her cub but fears what scar may do to it and also feats the influence scar may have on the young cubs life. So in your theory Kovu and Kiara are half siblings. Would work if Disney would've actually built the family tree around how real Lions procreate. Theoretically every cub on Pride Rock is fathered by Mufasa and later Simba. Scar fathered all cubs in his reign and whenever the king changes all cubs get killed by the new king. Also males get exiled and aren't next in line. Disney wanted them human like so even though the theory is nice it's wrong simply because it's a movie for children.
The books are not canon. Just the movies and The Lion Guard. I saw a video a while back that the author never got permission from Disney to use their name. And states that his books are not canon. So anything that happened in any of the books isn't true. So all these extra lions are not actually related. Nala's father has a red mane, but it is never stated in the Lion Guard what his name was. That is why Disney was good with letting Simba and Nala get together. There was also an interview with the Disney writers and directors stating that Kovu and Kira are not related. So Kovu is not Scars son. We don't know who his father is because it was never stated in the movie or the Lion Guard.

I honestly think that Scar Kept Nala around because she was a Female Cub and would thus be able to have cubs of her own and be another hunter.
