  • I started this video with intentions of it being a "how-to." That plan changed when I started running into issues and out of time. I needed my car to be one consistent color rather than the 5 shades of black and silver that it's been for a while, so I got a couple cans of Rustoleum and went to work with a foam roller. After having issues with the first color (and deciding it was kind of boring), I changed the color to Sail Blue rather than a blend of Smoke Grey and Black.
Ultimately, I loved the color and decided to coat it with Rustoleum (of course) Matte Clear Coat to give it an even more interesting look. This car is going to be used and abused, so I'm perfectly fine with an imperfect paint job. However, I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out. Especially from a distance.
    Thanks for watching!

@@DillonSmith1 hey did you use clear coat after? Or is that just from the sail blue paint only?

@@Shinobi117 I put a couple coats of rattle can matte clear on after the blue. It came out surprisingly good but I definitely won't do it again.

Wonder if you can mix clear with it to make it single stage

Hey Dillion so i currently have a swapped manual transmission z and i have a AT Check light and service engine check light did it pop up on your 350 after the swap?

    • @DillonSmith1

I had no new lights or codes pop up on mine after the swap. Don't know if this matters, but did you replace either the harness or ECU or both with one from a manual?

question: i got an all black truck, now I've been reaching this rustoleum paint jobs, and all videos include sanding, since my truck is black cant i just go over it but gloss black

I feel like I already answered this, but UA-cam says I haven't. No matter what paint job you do, the quality will always depend on how much time you spend on prep-work. Even on a cheap-ass job like this. More sanding means a smoother finish and less finish work. Good luck!
