Nice work Stevo, those flies were loving that leak, now they're starving. I just fixed a 4x4x4 cast iron sewage fitting in my apartment house basement, it's haunted me for over 2 years; I was afraid that if I got in trouble that tenants couldn't shit or shower until I got a plumber. Fortunately, I fixed it all for about 150$ with 4" PVC from Home Depot, and 6 hours of my time. The quotes I got were in the thousands. Rents are high enough, I try to do everything myself.
We got a stinka!! 😂
Jed Clampett from the Beverly Hillbillies for all those of you that don't know....'Old School launguage'... makes us older dudes laugh for sure
That is for sure good stuff
I would have needed another man on that job. Nice repair !
I love how he doesnt get squeeved out by the shit flies or the shit smell. Is it a plumber thing? Different breed. Love it
@@WeatherNut27 Plumbers work on fresh water stuff as much as waste water stuff about equal amounts. Waste side can get nasty. What he did is nothing compared to a grease trap though. Those traps have some wicked smell. It sticks to you also.
Steve Lavimoniere Top tech mama... No bullshit a real technician...
Steve,
Great job, that pipe was heavy, you’re a brute for taking on that job.
“That was a sh-t show! And a leaker!”
That’s a neat tool for cutting the pipe. So easy.
old school "Rigid Ratchet Cutter", if you don't set the chain right in the right knotch you easily bound it up, BITD it was the stuff
I bought a Milwaukee blade for cast iron the other day, it was 22$ for 1 blade. But, that puppy went thru 4" cast iron like it was nothing. Most of us home hacks don't have the chain cutter. That blade was worth every penny.
Must be back graded down the line somewhere to hold that water - probably why it rotted out in that section. Shower time after that job!
When people say what a cool old house, I see crumbling old, cast-iron pipes
Steve you are a Beast !The way you Handeled That pipe AIN'T NO OLD MAN YOUNG BUCK
Steve. U r a smart Guy ,you make your own marketing and It Works a Lot , many people admire your Works greatly, ty for this Channel.
I find it best to duct tape trash bags to end of pipe before dropping it down to prevent cramp being drop all over the place. Less clean up.
good tip
@@stevenlavimoniere you knew that you being lazy
Steve I used to work with an old school plumber that never wore gloves and he would pull an old bowl wax out with his hands and put the new one in and tamp it down real good......didn't matter what he got on his hands he would just dry wipe them off then we would go to a eat lunch and I saw those paws holding a burger like it was nothing and I always laughed to myself. He never would have got the rona virus.
I worked with a guy who would leave fingerprints of grease on his lunch sandwich
Best way to build up a solid immune system!!
Another great fix for the kiddos Steve, your the man for the job. Remain safe and keep the videos coming 👍 ✨️ 👌💥☝️🫵💯
One man TEAM what a legend
Hi Steve, there is no way not to comment on this video. This has to be one of your best ones yet. Please don't ever change. Or change your content. As always you have to put some Fritz on that, a little dope, Joe Capo.
its a messy one mama. My least favorite part about plumbing has always been dealing with water in spots where you can't get stuff wet... sometimes i wish we had it as easy as electricians do where you can just flip a switch and get to work
Good luck to all the graduates of kindergarten!
Amityville Horror flies. 😮
It's a Crusty One Mr. GRINCH.
Those Flies from Hell !
I used to use the old chain cutters when doing cast iron. Both work good. Nice job Steve
Wheeler long tong type
People for educational purposes the only reason to use cast iron for a waste line in the ceiling is because it drains quieter than pvc. It has a rough inner lining that catches shit and can plug up easier. PVC has a very smooth inner surface that rarely clogs up.
Unless you like the govt in you face.
Sh1t on the Corn Flakes😅
Yeah, he almost took out that corn flakes box.
I seen some floaters coming out of that pipe Steve! Dirty job for certain!
You need an entire body glove for that job.
I don't know how you did this solo...on a ladder! Steve is strong as an ox.
We had similar cast iron sewer pipe job done but near ground level, no ladder required. Plumber was a ogre but still needed an apprentice.
🤣 Steven, i bet Sally's legs where heavier than that pipe. Great work!!
Great work mama!!!!
Losen the clamps. Rotate 180°. Tighten clamps. No mess. Good for another 25 years. Thxs for the vids!
haha nice
brilliant! lol 😆
You still would have the shit smell
Only problem is the fumes escaping out the top, stinky stuff that will attract more flies. Maybe follow it up with JB Weld along the leak.
rotate an open pipe with holes right next to all the food yea great idea
Hey Steve, are you allowed to use that epoxy pipe liner stuff as opposed to a replacement?
He's using no hub clamps to connect the ends which is the modern method. The old plumber I used to work with still had lead and oakum on his truck in case he had to reconnect a cast iron joint. Thy used to solder the cast joints.
it's a real treat to see a pro at work . . .
Hey Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again ya’ll. 👍👍
Definetly a stinka and a leaka! To bad ABS pipe couldn't be used in it's place. A code thing? Another great cleaned up job.
Possibly a code thing. In some places you're not allowed to replace and change material. You have to put in the same material that you took out.
Stupid as ABS and PVC would far outlast cast iron but these old plumbers stuck in the past don't want to hear that and that's why we still have to play around with inferior cast iron from time to time like we're still in the 1950's.
That's what the Pastor told me once, LCMS. 'Somebody has to do it'. This is like fricking infrastructure video Momma! WOW! The 'gloves' guy is long gone Steve. Mayor Pete couldn't do that! ** Double snare, Cymbal crash. Pretty cool.
I swear I saw doody coming out of that old cast iron pipe when it was draining
Forget the gloves you need an entire rubber suit and face shield
Howdy Steve and Miss Molly
Nice work Steve!
Steve saved the kid's graduation..
Finger linking good, steve. I still can't figure out why you wear gloves.
Dookie Flys steve
That's the coolest cutting-tool! No motors
The taste needs to be cleaned up with chlorine water mix. See if the taste is still lingering. I remember tasting a smell like that down on the docks. I tried to make out the flavor of that fish but it burned my face. Definitely were gloves so the taste won’t burn.
Turd Flies *_and_* Dog Peter Gnats! 🪰😄
Steve you ever notice how the cast iron 3 or 4" always somehow stays open but anything smaller will plug up solid.
Shit that's a 3" line. I couldn't tell until you carried it out. That's a 10' heavy ass line.
So ya wanna be a plumber, this is why I wear gloves.. LOL
Great Job! 👍
hate those drain flies
The corn flakes aren´t gonna be kosher anymore mama.
I thought the corn flakes were goin down,😂😂😂😂whey would you wear gloves 😂😂😂
A bunch of sewer flies flew out of the pipe.
Nice job, Jed Clampett shout out, lol.
Nice job
Can’t believe you guys still put that shit back in
its the code in mass cast iron or copper drain lines in a commercial building no pvc allowed i believe it has to do with the fire department not wanting it because of the fumes it gives of if there is a fire ..
@@stevenlavimonieremakes sense to me! 👍🏻
We replaced big cast drains in downtown Tampa Bank of America building with cast iron and that’s the same thing I was told about fire.
People just say things before doing any research, just so they can be heard for once
@@stevenlavimoniere You are correct Sir!
@@anthonybenincasa I’ve ripped literally tons of cast out and replaced with HDPE. Yes you need to install additional hangers, expansion joints and you need to fire stop penetrations between floor and walls but it doesn’t rot and corrode internally. Yes you may need to lag it for acoustic purposes in certain areas but there are other plastic materials just as quiet as CI
i wonder if you should flush out the pipes a few times before cutting to clean them out
Ferncos the way to go 👍
You could hang a bucket before you make the cut
Why the hell would you wear gloves? 😂
Surprised you took that job
That pipe is actually light, it's just as we age and get older this stuff gets heavier, LOL.
Hello Steve!
hello
At least you didn't have any golden nuggets coming down the drain at you
What a big mess but good job
Aint rocket science mama
Good ol' Jed Clampett
Most guys would get out the mega press with 500 dollar couplings, lol. Then brag about how awesome they are. Good job Steve!!
you cant mega press cast iron pipe, but if it was a gas line you bet were charging that
Hi @seatonheating
That’s the difference between real plumbers and wanna be plumbers
Have a great day 👍👍👍
Lol do you even plumb bro ?
@@davidpattison5860 Doing things the old way when we have better technology available today does not make you a better plumber. Just means you're ignorant and stuck in the past.
@@PlumbThumbs Clearly not, if he did he'd know you can't megapress cast iron. It's only for gas pipe.
Why not replace with ABS or PVC and not have to do it again in 20 years!
I'm begging to ask you Steve though......how do you keep your feet from sweating to high hell on a warm day wearing jeans and rubber boots?
Two man job Heavy S*%THad to help my dad do "Cast Iron"Had the same cutter just sold it to a Plumber!
Shit flies from hell
DIABLO RECIPROCATING SAW BLADES for cast iron cit cast like butter
this is the perfect situation for using propress
Just wondering even though thst was a drain line, where are the water main and meter normally located in a commercial building?
Wherever it was cheapest to put them when it was built, especially if it'll be in the way and/or impossible to get to!
@jblyon2 Sometimes ya get lucky and there's the water valve right by the boiler room in the sub basement.
Why do you wear gloves? I can never figure it out!😄
Plumbers have the toughest shit jobs, electricians not so much. Nothing worse than dealing with shit pipes and crawling through dirt.
Steve in all fairness, by the time you finish most gloves they're so shredded you may as well have not worn any at all. LOL 😄
Hi @corey
That’s why they come in boxes of 100 , I used to stick a few in my pocket and when you get a blow out change it right away ,
why do you wear gloves i cant figure it out
oh my ,, at 320 I was feeling for you, oh my...... I would need a full body haz mat suit and respirator for that, gloves are not enough.
you worked for that dollar !!
13:37 and then I can Jed Clampit. I see what you did there.
I thought you would have used PVC
Lord of the flies Steve, What s Shit show!!
you could hurt yourself there my friend! you need to hire a helper on jobs like this !! jus saying
we have a leaker
Why use cast-iron to replace it? Why not replace the cast-iron with PVC?
In a fire pvc emmits toxic fumes , therefore, building codes will not allow pvc to be used in hospitals, schools, and other commercial buildings.
Each state has different building codes.
Why do plumbers always get the shit jobs good job steve
Hey Steve, why do you wear gloves???? 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
2nd.
You worked for your money on this one 😂
That’s a two man job
ya me and my dog
@@stevenlavimoniere good team when Molly decides to go to work
Anyone for Cornflakes?
He needs a box of those after that job for breakfast tomorrow! 😂
@@ClickinChicken maybe loose a few pounds too
So you wanna be a plumba?
Why did you not replace this cast iron crap with PVC? Is cast iron code there? I’m not questioning your work, I’m just curios.
In MA. Code requires cast iron in commercial buildings.
I'm surprised you don't have a bunch of rubber expansion plugs to put in those pipes so you don't have to make any more of a mess than nessisary 🤢🤮🤮
No wonder why you wear gloves. 😆
video on why you do not wound to be a plumper, tell you make out the bill.
I’m first
