Les crowded than Bangkok, I might stay there on my next trip. How are the hotels & Airbnb's in the area?

It's cheaper but with less to do than Bangkok. However, there are busses MRT and vans that give you quick access to Bangkok. Not too many hotels around Bang Yai city but one or too on Rattanathibet road. Try the mall ngam wong wan area. There's a great mall and a few hotels smaller ones in the sois around there. Prices range from about 600 baht upwards.
