  • The FAL pattern of rifle has truly earned its place in firearms history. It has been used in nearly every continent on the plant and has been actively serving for decades.

My very first rifle was a Century Arms L1A1 Sporter from way back in the early 90s. Man I loved that gun !

1:07 Don't sweat the saying of an acronym instead of spelling it out. "Laser" (light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation), "radar" (radio detection and ranging), and "NASA" (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) aren't things we spell out. You can always use those examples to counter criticism if you want.

I do like the fal and it's a great looking rifle but they do have some issues. I got a standard m1a and love this rifle it always work's and holds a 2 moa all day and I have up graded it some and its easy to find parts .

  • @dee_vee_
    @dee_vee_ 2 роки тому +3

Hey, I know CAI used whatever parts were on hand which would explain the front sight. From my limited knowledge I know if a metric front sight is used with a inch rear sight, sighting is a pain if not impossible. I had Arizona response system rebuild my CAI on a DSA inch receiver. I also added the original wood furniture and flash hider. You’ll see mine on Reddit if you go to the FNFAL community and check out some of the last posts.

i really like my 16 inch dsa fal. aside from needing work due to a consistent ejection/extraction issue it groups well and is the only fal ive seen so far with an integral 3 port brake.

    • @OreGear

Was it a ban era FAL that couldn’t have a threaded barrel?

    • @terrorform242

@@OreGear good question. it has the lmt receiver so i assume its old enough to be from the ban era.

Loved the FN FAL and FN FALO ( automatic version ) in my navy days you could make a mosquito hum 2 octaves higher at 100 meters. after just 1 hr of training. .
If you get a change find a real european belgian made FN FAL made for the dutch military they had some unique features compared to other nations.
The Royal Netherlands Army adopted the rifle with a bipod and in semi-automatic form, in 1961. In service it was called Het licht automatisch geweer, but usually known as the 'FAL'. The rifles had unique sights (hooded at the front) and the German style sheet metal front handguard. A sniper version, Geweer Lange Afstand, was also used standard with a scope of Dutch origin produced by the Artillerie Inrichtingen, and without the bipod. The scope was designated Kijker Richt Recht AI 62. The heavy-barrel FAL 50.42 version was also adopted later as a squad automatic weapon as the Het zwaar automatisch geweer.[94

I personally like an FAL from what I have seen and heard on them, plus I like the aesthetics of the FAL but I prefer the .308 version. however I have never seen or fired one in person, not many people in my area have nice stuff like that, that are sociable or are just "gun community oriented" there are not even any places around here such as (active gun clubs or training facilities).

@@OreGear I ran Tulla steel through mine and it split by the rim. Blew the mag out the gun. Scared the sh@! out of me. I would be cautious running it in your L1a1. I run it in my cetme with no problem though.

Argentina build fn fal from 60s to 90s, with the heavy barrel as esquad heavy gun. DSA dont use chrome barrels, a chrome chamber is a must, and most failures are for bad gas setting and magazines.

Mine is very similar to yours. Shot it for the first time and around the 6th or 8th shot the spring blew out the bottom of 2 different mags. Wondering if its the gas setting. I have 0 to 11 settings. I had it on 3 when this happened. I want to try it again with a different gas setting. Which settings do you have and which would you try or should itake it to a smith. It def blew tons of gas in my face and out through the mag. Cheers mate

I can't speak to your having gas spewed out into your face, but from the vids I've seen a gas setting of 3 or 4 is normal.

CAI built thousands of FAL rifles back in the day how century worked was they contracted most of the building out to small shops and garage smiths who would batch build a 100 at a time one reason why century got a bad rap for sell junk ..but you have to remember nobody offered any of the cool semi auto military style stuff as they where the world largest importer of de-milled gun anyway most of the FAL’s built by century where either Australian or Canadian kits on imbel manufactured receivers..but not saying they didn’t also build German or Austrian FALs also ..they did…the first batches where mostly matching number or at least matching country of origin parts but as time passed mix and match frankin FAL started coming out ..the real only significant difference between metric and inch pattern FAL was the magazine nub was milled out larger for inch patterned magazine..other then that 95% of the parts interchange between the types a nice thing with the design All tho some Israeli small parts will not work like the gas system parts ..any inch or metric parts can be used if you should have a breakdown..anyway back in the day I’d say the FAL was one of the first real garage gun build enjoyed by the home builder easier then both the AK or HK go’s that where also being built by home builders at the time …but sadly today finding the tools to build are getting harder to find as well as kits to build so if you find a CAI FAL at a decent price don’t hesitate to jump on one it’s not as bad as the internet experts seem to slam on them …I’ve built around 14 back in the day and still own 2 a imbel and Israeli heavy some of my most valuable in my collection..great video fellow Oregunion ..it’s 5 am I’m rambling

That tag had me curious as well. I didn't think a price tag, but initially I thought you were Canadian as they have to store these types of weapons at a gun club. So I thought some thing along that line. But in a comment bymoemester1966 he stated you were an Oregonian. If it's not a privacy type of a thing, what is that tag.? Inquiring minds want to know. BTW, an awesome video with good information. 👍
