I dont know about your but those Warriors prologues are some of the most ominous, spine tingly parts of the books. I think prologues should always foreshadow something that would happen in the book, and the epilogue should either wrap things up after a time jump or create more foreshadowing for the next book in a series
OK no you are SO real for this. I LOVE the Warrior Cats prologues lmao. They might be one of the only examples I can think of where the prologue is able to both give us a sneak peek into the future or see something related but separate to the main arc that adds to the plot. Epilogues for me usually are meh. I think I like the stories to wrap up in the last chapter unless it's something where we need to see waaay in the future to see how the actions changed the world in some manner. But that's just me!
Ok but the paperback vs. hardcover thing makes me so angry. Especially when i was buying more books new. I just don't enjoy reading a hardcover, and having to wait extra time because -capitalism- is so incredibly frustrating. Loved this video! i would love for you to do more. I agreed with essentially everything you said lol
Sooo interesting! So many good points, I think I agree with most of the hot takes haha I once read 180 books in a year and I know that personally I don’t want to do that again because it’s like there was so many stories and emotions and characters I ended up not letting myself soak up some books. So I read the material but never really let the story affect me in any way? Plus I forgot a lot of it very fast
Dang!! That's so many books! Were a lot of them short? Or mostly full length novels? I'm fascinated by how people are able to read so fast (even though I consider myself a fast reader). I definitely have decided that I want to be particular with what I spend my time reading these days.
@@EmilyReadsBooks that was actually a good look into my mental state at the time. It was 2020, I was unemployed and sitting at home with a still functioning access to the ny public library audiobooks. (it has since expired, since I'm no longer a ny resident boooo). I took up cross-stitching and that all I did all day - stitch and listen to audiobooks on double peed one after the other. It almost because an olympic sport, I got a thrill at how fast I could go through books. One day I started and finished two full-length novels and I felt so accomplished. Now I only remember the fact and not what those books even were. In normal circumstances of having a job and a social life - i can't imagine reading so many books...

You're so real. I hate that it's a money thing (isn't it always???). I'm happy to hear you'd like me to do more! It shall be done.
