Oh, the last sentence thing brought back one of my childhood memories...
So, back in middle school, I sat next a kid on the bus that was reading (what I now know as) The Mark of Athena. I happened to look over at the page he was reading, and saw the line "The sacrifice had been Percy and Annabeth." At the time, I thought they died in some sort of battle.
Fast forward to the summer after 6th grade when I finally get around to reading the books, and I pick up MoA. I soon realized that this was the same book the boy was reading, and I was dreading Percy and Annabeth's supposed death. When I got to the end of the book, my reaction was "Well, falling into Tartarus isn't good, but at least they're technically still alive."
11:26 I have the opposite problem. I would start a book, and then I would get into another book while thinking "I can read two books at the same time." And then I pick up another book. And then I see a book at the library that looks interesting... and the vicious cycle continues.

I so agree with the first one. When a book gets worn out it actually shows that you have read the book wholeheartedly instead of just keeping it as a showpiece.
For classics I feel like all the stories are pretty good. It's the language that gets the readers riled up. Some writers are so hard on languages like Charles Dickens that it becomes a whole different chore to decipher the language. But once you understand classics, you know just how deep they are.

Ok, considering the reaction to my opinion, I have a lot of spare time now that it’s the Summer, and I’ve been considering trying to read Harry Potter again. I tried reading it when I was super young, anyway, so I’ll probably have a different perspective of it if I read it again now I’m older, and I might end up loving it. But, before I try again, I would genuinely like to know: what makes Harry Potter such a good series? What makes people want to rave about it all day? Please tell me why you love the Harry Potter books, I’m genuinely curious.
Update: I have now read Harry Potter, and while Percy Jackson will always have my heart, it was still a very good series. I enjoyed it, but I still wouldn’t say it’s one of my favourites.

It's just that Harry Potter technically after the lord of the rings became the only series to have a whole different world involved in it. People like it because there's so much to discuss about it. There are so many characters, with each of them having a distinct past. There's a school which when once you'll read about you'll wish your school to be like that. There's politics in the magic world. It's basically a whole country like thing where these magicians live their life have their own government their own topography. And ofc the villains, they are all behind Harry Potter because he's the chosen one and is destined to kill their master. The best thing here is how Harry's character takes shape through the books. From a naive innocent orphan to a teenager with anger and arrogance issues to a wise man who is capable of taking good decisions.

    • @LynasLake
      @LynasLake Рік тому +4

Hello ! Let me cite some of the canon breaks. Most of them are in the timeline so honestly it’s no biggie, I just felt like it could’ve been taken care of better !
-Reyna said she spent 4years at camp Jupiter, since She left from Circe’s island but it was actual just 3 years prior, plus, she mentioned spending months with the pirates so no way it was 4 years.
-Jason joined camp at 3, but had 12 stripes. He was supposed to be 16.
-In SoN, Percy says that he only dated Annabeth for 2 months and then got taken away for 8 months, while in MoA Annabeth says they dated for 4 months and then he got taken for 6 months.
-In TLO, Percy is going to be a sophomore. In BoO, Percy says that he is going to be a senior. The two books are one year apart so he should be a junior.
      -Silena’s appearance
-If we go by Thalia, Jason and Annabeth’s ages, then the timeline is wrong.
      -How Nico went to Tartarus
-How did Nico see bianca even though she was supposed to be reincarnated?
-The “names have power” thing is completely forgotten
Please remember that I know that every author makes mistakes ! And it’s completely fine, believe me when I say that I know just how hard it is to write. I’m just mentioning that on the comment. Have a good day! ;)

I also dislike dust jackets and prefer to read without them. I also did they same thing with twilight 😂 and I love hate-reading. I usually read the last paragraph, but not the whole last page! Thats way too much. I have also spoiled things for myself before… I usually deeply regret it. I also agree with audiobooks, I don’t judge people for reading them, but it’s not my thing. I’ve found a couple audiobooks that are just fantastic (like Six of Crows), but it’s usually not my thing. I'm not sure why someone would ask that an author stop writing - that thing they do for a living. Just step away from the authors work if it doesn't vibe anymore. Also, maybe think of canon as not being a static thing - i say this as someone that hasn't read most of Riordan's work, he's on my tbr.
As for spice - some people just don't like to read it. It could be a range of reasons - they don't like the actual way things like that are often written (frequent words that crop up, etc), they might have trauma around SA, they might be ace, or they might just not enjoy spicy scenes. Everything with reading comes down to preference in the end - art is subjective, what makes a book good for one person might be what makes it bad for another.
