This show slipped through the cracks of Disney’s empire and has shown us the power and impact that Star Wars can have, and we loved it, the true Star Wars fans loved it, not for its (still remarkable spectacle) but for its story and message, it has shown us what Star Wars can yet still be. He's a combination of the "green" lieutenant guy in "aliens" & that obsessed inspector type in the Three Musketeers... Rogue One is, after the empire strikes back, the best star wars movie ever made-- This series is its prequel-- and it's triumphant...
He's trying to do what he believes is right. He's still an officer of a pseudo-militia working for a heartless corporation which in turn is the subject of a cruel galactic empire. So yeah, not a villain. Not a good guy either.
"Tell him, he knows everything he needs to know and feels everything he needs to feel. And when the day comes, and those two pull together, he will be an unstoppable force for good."
Agreed! It’s up there with Mando for me! When Star Wars experiments and takes us to new parts of the galaxy to meet new characters and have new stories-Rogue One, Mando, and now this, it really shines!
@@Сайтамен mando isn’t bad but to pretend it’s some sort of unique take on Star Wars when series 2 and 3 are purely to set up spin offs and provide cameos, references, connections, ties back to the skywalkers, the empire, the first order, clone wars, rebels, ahsoka etc. etc. just cameo after cameo after Easter egg after reference after self referential dialogue after connection. Dave Filonis trademark. Fan service = plot apparently At least this is something entirely different and has its own characters instead of gaps in the timeline to fill and connections to make
Book of Boba took the same tone as every SW show or movie had. It's not a bad thing at all. I love Book of Boba. I find it weird that we put so much onus on BoBF, yet we forget the idea of a dark Mandalorian show being turned into a more family friendly show actually started with Mandalorian. Book of Boba is simply an extension of The Mandalorian. Personally, I loved everything that's been coming out. Andor is one of my favorite (alongside The Bad Batch) for the down to earth feel, the dwellings of the average person being shown so often, the motivations of every character being shown in a human way, the dark reality of policing and the Republic/Empire's evil destructive conquest on worlds, indigenous tribe being the main protagonists of the show with fleshed out language built for the show and kept mysterious to give ultra autonomy to this tribe of people, the theme song of the show, the ability of the show to change settings seamlessly with beautiful architecture and set pieces, and most importantly the ability of the show to stand on its own without fanservice, something Mandalorian is guilty of first (though, it's not a bad thing, just not my cup of tea; I do love it for what it is even if it derails the Mandalorian's story). Even if Andor is one of the best, it doesn't mean the other more family-friendly shows aren't great. I think The Bad Batch, my absolute favorite, managed to mix these two types of shows perfectly.
Book of Boba just took a pretty bad direction. Making Boba a gang leader and grounding him on a desert planet was a bad call. I'd have rather they not make a show centered around his character and have him be an assisting character like he was in Mandalorian season 2. He lost some qualities that we saw in the original trilogy too, his ruthless nature and smart instincts. But I attribute that to bad writing.
@@LouSassol69er I don't think turning him into a gang leader was a bad call, but turning him into a friendly godfather was. The guy lived a few years with a tribe and suddenly became the sweetest bounty hunter ever, seriously good for him but that wasn't interesting in the slightest to me
The transitions from Cassian escaping with Luthen, to Maarva saving young Cassian in Kenari, to the destruction he has caused in Ferrix, and back to Cassian running again--Episode 3's ending was too good.
Everything about this show is phenomenal. the story, the characters, their arcs, developments, the music, the visuals, the emotions, the writing. Just 10/10
The other shows set the bar so low... Andor has mini arcs of 3 episodes (The Prologue, the Aldhani Heist, Narkina 5, Ferrix) and in each and every mini-arc they manage to have more world-building and character development than all the other series in an entire season. 3 whole seasons of The Mandalorian, virtually zero character evolution for Din, even less so secondary characters, and don't get me started on the other series that avoid world-building and character development as much as they seem to avoid good writing and acting. And Andor avoids all the usual boring clichés. All the characters are relatable to an extent. Yes the antagonists are evil, but not the typical "mindless cruel incompetent Imperial" and at some point you kinda feel for them a little even. Not dehumanising characters is really important, especially antagonists. That's quality writing.
@@Tomcat_Centauri Tomcat SO WELLSAID! What is it about this show that can introduce someone like Kino and it takes about a half an episode and I just absolutely love him??? He becomes relatable, and realistic, and a hero. Other SW shows introduce "side" characters and they are bland, 2 dimensional cardboard cutouts.
@@okedoke1234 Kino is probably the best exemple of great writing in Andor ! He's only on screen for 3 episodes, and in that time you go from disliking him to loving him. When he's first introduced, you think he's just a cog in the Imperial machine, he's part of the system, he doesn't care. But then you're made to realise that he does care about the people in his Shift, he wants to get out, he wants others to get out, but he's scared. And ultimately, when he's made to realise that by following the system he will never win, we learn he has been thinking about breaking out all along, he knows how and when, but he needed someone like Cassian make it possible. THREE EPISODES. Full on 180° character development, poignant ending. As i said previously, most other Star Wars shows can't manage that in several Seasons, which is sad and pathetic.
It was so good that, when I stumbled on Andor towards the end of the series intro, not having heard of it and not knowing the length, I thought it was the season finale. And I was so bummed to have to wait to see what happened.... Only to find out it had two more episodes still to come.
This show came out at the right time for me. I was in a bad place a few years ago and got myself put in jail for a year. This show came out in the same year that I got out so the Narkina 5 arc hit too close to home.
The character development is incredible so quickly into the show. You know the emotions and interactions between Andor and his friends, and why he is the tortured soul we see during Rogue One. Also, nice to see the further background of the Empire's "middle management" and dealing with the rest of the worlds beyond just Tattooine.
I’m just imagining tears running down Maarva’s face w/ B there… bix in pain… and andor flashing back to the past as he leaves his family again once more…
It feels so good to have a show that does the Star Wars Universe justice. The setting, characters, music and writing are all exceptional. So much better than anything we've gotten in the last 7 years in terms of mature storytelling.
@@amuroray9115 Largely, no. I went back and watched it last year. Aside from the odd episode in the last two seasons, it wasn't very mature, especially the first 5 seasons. You're forgetting the show aired on cartoon network, a channel for kids primarily. While there were relatively mature moments, it wasn't a mature show. That doesn't mean I think it was bad show either just btw.
Sam I am there with you. When I heard this series was coming I was excited but this has exceeded my wildest expectations. And the SCORE! You are right.....just cannot stop listening to it......Have you heard the score during Maarva's eulogy monologue in Ep 12? Holy crap holy crap holy crap
I know this is an old comment but you should watch bad batch season 3 “the solitary clone”, that episode is beyond emotional and it just kills me inside. The ending music is insanely good
Andor may have one of the most beautiful pieces of theme music I've ever heard for a TV show. So many emotions, feelings, and desires in it: sadness because of the oppression, but also a hint of power, representing the never fading hope for a better galaxy. This is show is top notch and I wish it was getting more than two seasons...
I agree, and I hope they take this similar theme and feel to their future shows because this one is genuinely UNIQUE for once, and because of that and other factors I think it’s the best Star Wars series released recently.
3:15 is queue goosebumps for me…such a stellar soundtrack that really made the ending of episode 3 one of my favorite Star Wars moments in the last 10 years
That line has so much more meaning now. And Cassian's other monologue in R1 about "Some of us, most of us-we've all done terrible things on behalf of the Rebellion. Spies, saboteurs, assassins. Everything I did, I did for the Rebellion"
The Requiem of an antihero. Fighting until the last breath a war he didn't know of. A broken, yet free spirit, became an instrument of death for the oppressors. Never wanting and never truly achieving recognition from the oppressed. A character story arch among the most inspired in contemporary fiction. This theme is so right for this serie. No hope for a happily ever after. An anthem for the desperate struggle of an handful of bright and lonely souls in the galaxy.
I can’t get over how good this soundtrack is, especially the main theme for the intro of episode 1, like to me it perfectly conveys the emotions of someone trying to rebel against the empire
The Mandalorian is an instant classic because all the epic adventures and great cameos from both legacy and extended universe, BUT, ANDOR, OMG, THIS SHOW IS CINEMA. I hope they keep this magnificent level in S2, this harmonic narrative and intimate point of view in every character, we don't want fan service nor a shocking cameo.
We are all here because we felt the same as we watched the show. I love Star Wars and this series gives me hope that there is still a version of it with soul out there
Episode 8 mindblown! And it's getting better and better. That's the series many fans have been dreaming of including me. This period Pre-Episode IV always interested me, always wanted to see how the Empire actually works and how the Rebellion started to raise, now the absolute banger would be to finish the series on Mon Mothma organize a meeting with major leaders of the Rebellion including Leia and showing the Rebellion symbol.
@@fabulousfrance I think we may be getting a scene or two just like that fabulousfrance! Last scene of Andor Season 2 will be Cassian getting the call to go to Ring of Kafrene and meet the guy with information about some new Imperial super-weapon.....
I just do NOT understand why so many people hate this show… It is incredible how much of a dark, raw atmosphere they created, truly shows live during the imperial reign, the anger and sadness within the people…
The ending of this three episode story arc (episode 1-3) is phenomenal! Action, drama and sorrow… on both sides. I really felt for the”bad cop” trying to catch Andor and loosing it all…
The exact kind of shit his boss warned him about. Sometimes doing the "right thing" costs so much more than doing nothing. That sense of justice will ruin you in this galaxy
squiggy18 absolutely spot-on perfect. Totally agree. Nothing hits me emotionally like this story , these characters, this score, their sacrifice.....Ep 12 just wrecks me every time
The most prominent Star Wars YT channel, who shal remain nameless, crapped all over Andor. What a 🤡. As a 52 year old who saw the original Star Wars A new Hope in the theater as a young child I can’t tell you how much I LOVED this series. It brought me back to other shows of that era like Kung Fu, Hill Street Blues, MASH, Columbo, Space 1999, Star Trek, The Waltons. Battle Star Galactica, Six Million Dollar Man etc. don’t know why but Andor brought me back to that era. It was wonderful.
I love Star Wars with the force and jedi just as much as the next person. But it’s mostly the major nerds that don’t like Andor. It doesn’t resonate with them. It resonates with the rest of us on a deep, emotional level
The ending scene of episode 3 where this plays is just too perfect. Say what you will about a slow burn or the character development - even if that’s not your thing, this whole episode comes to a beautiful crescendo and you can feel the weight of so many characters in this 7 minutes. I’m so fucking excited for the rest of this series, more than I was for Mando and that’s really saying something.
I just watched Ep. 6 "The Eye" and it was by far the best piece of Star-Wars media I have ever consumed to this date. I can't wait for the finale in Ep. 12!
You know what I love about that show ? It takes its time, you see a lot of characters, solid background, dirt, misery, no fancy Jedi, no force. Just the struggle and life under oppression, some scenes reminded me of France during world war 2 (when the imperial troops chose to take the hostel as their headquarters, just like the gestapo in some French town) It’s grim, hopeless, dark, And cassian isn’t a white knight, he kills, sometimes potential Friends. I just love this character. Loved him in rogue one. And I’m so glad they are extending his story (and also ; Melshi !!!!!!!!)
People who dislike Andor are room-temperature IQ simpletons, period. This show is objectively a masterpiece by any standards. And by Star Wars standards, it went beyond any and all expectation i ever thought i'd have.
Andor is Rediculous !!! I will stand up in my own house and give this a standing ovation when it's over. If this is the future, then prepare for Star wars to take over once again !! I applaud everyone involved with the series.
Exactly how I felt. Alas ... Ashoka thus felt so bad after this. What a pity. But we'll have Andor season 2. And one can dream, that one day, even the movies will be of this quality. SW movies, I mean. It's a one in a million shot, of course... but hey.
This soundtrack creates so much atmosphere. You can feel the rising crescendo: The growing of an Empire, The rage of the oppressed. Andor may have not struck like The Mandalorian but for me, and I'm sure many others, this show is the culmination of modern Star Wars. A masterpiece.
It’s the opposite for me, the Mandalorian won’t ever strike like Andor does. Either way it is Great to see both Pedro Pascal and Diego Luna get awesome roles especially after watching them in Narcos
Fellow Lovers of Andor - just think of this. From Episode 1, season 1, scene 1 of Andor through the final scene of A New Hope, once Andor Season 2 is done, will essentially be one continuous story. Right now adding up Andor Season 1, Rogue One, and A New Hope, we have 809 minutes. If Andor Season 2 is around the same length as Season 1 (555 minutes), this will give us 22 hours and 40 minutes of continuous, amazing, emotional, kick-ass storytelling.......
You have clearly not heard ANY good Star Wars music then, other then just the cliche ones. Listen to the Solo soundtrack, and the prequel soundtracks. So much better than this simple, generic, trash. Its literally like 7 notes over and over! 😂 Your brains must be too small to comprehend real music
I need to tell someone how ridiculously happy the first four episodes made me! Everything about this show feels so so soooo good, everything is where it needs to be, I believe this world 100% of the time, every character has purpose, every character feels the consequences of their actions, the score is amazing, the costumes are fresh and exciting, the cast is out of this world, it takes its time, its serious and seriously awesome so far. I can not tell you how many times I had goosebumps already but holy fuck, this show feels like a glas of water after a month long drought. If they continue like this and keep the quality up, this series has the potential to become my absolute favorite piece of Star Wars branded content PERIOD. Sorry for that! Obi Wan must have been really underwhelming for me smh
There is a very small part of me, like 1%, that feels Andor had no right to be this good. Why is this show god tier when Obi-Wan Kenobi is a soft 6/10? But then there's the other 99%, the part of me that's been a fan of Star Wars my whole life, that is overjoyed to see something so beautiful, emotional, well-crafted, and beloved come out of this franchise. It gets me weirdly emotional. Moreso than a sequel trilogy, this feels like a once in a lifetime event to me. I adore it
I've seen the third episode of Andor three times, and the end brings me to tears every time (and I'm not one to cry at movies). The opening arc of this show is filmmaking at it's finest.
You know what hit me listening to this beautiful music, your arrangement and production of it? The soundtrack perfectly emphasizes the bitter-sweet nature of this entire series. Think about it, in this show we are literally watching the last five years in a man's life. Now tragedy is nothing new in "Star Wars"...but it is different when it is focused on a single person. That is pretty impactful, even if it is only a fictional character. Just go back and look at pictures, old home movies, footage of any kind, of family and friends that have passed away, look at the dates on those and then look at them...how they lived their lives not knowing when or how the end would come. That's what it feels to me at times when watching "Andor"...
@@rbmedia8798 Mando is good but the characterization in this one is better across everyone in the show. Clone Wars, Mando and Andor have gotta be the best Star Wars media they've pumped out in a while though

Just now noticed that the quiet piano from 2:39 - 2:47 plays the same classic star wars notes that can be heard when Luke goes to look at the twin suns on Tatooine.
We had just finished catching up with the trash show Mandalorian season 3 and came across Andor. I recognized the name and his face- it was the guy from the movie Rogue One we so loved. So we decided to watch it. Zero regrets. 10/10. Best Star Wars show I’ve ever seen.
Yep it is the best sw ever made, Andors heroic death in R1 is so sad now. And knowing that he helped both build and destroy the Death Star which killed him at the end :(
This was the best Star Wars series I‘ve ever watched. I also found my new favorite character „Andor“. Everything was perfect, especially the music. You can hear it from the music the glimmer of hope in the galaxy the realization to do something and the beginning of a rebellion which will lead to peace in the galaxy and hopefully to democracy! I actually teared up listening to this because you realise that one single person is able to achieve everything if the person wants to. And that is what is humanity about so never be afraid of making your next move because even if you fail you stood for something and gave it everything! So Never give up do it again and again and maybe someday you will wake up and realise that all you did was necessary and then you‘ll succeed.

I can't wait for episode 4. This show is heading on the right path to being one of the best star wars shows in a long time!!!
and ive heard its the best out of all of them that premiered!
@@kieranlowery5750 so far it seems that way.
Agreed! It’s up there with Mando for me! When Star Wars experiments and takes us to new parts of the galaxy to meet new characters and have new stories-Rogue One, Mando, and now this, it really shines!
@@AquaAtia Mando is really bad and it doesn't do anything experimental.
Fan service = plot apparently
At least this is something entirely different and has its own characters instead of gaps in the timeline to fill and connections to make
This is what good writing does. Imagine what the Book of Boba could have been with a serious and dark tone as it should have had
Different intended audience. Andor is for grown-ups.
@@HagbardCeline23 and Boba should have been too
@@LouSassol69er I don't think turning him into a gang leader was a bad call, but turning him into a friendly godfather was.
They spent an alleged 25million an episode on Andor and you can see where it went. It is absolutely beautiful!
Is it just me or did episode 10 just give me goosebumps. What an amazing show! One way out!!!
One way out

Ronny R, HEAR HEAR!!! I have rewatched Ep 10 prob 20+ times now.....have rewatched NONE of Book of Boba Fett
It was also an odd coincidence that my dorm was called D2 and their's was 5-2D.
the moment when the piano starts playing the classic Star Wars theme but then doesn't.. what an epic soundtrack and a great show so far!
The character development is incredible so quickly into the show. You know the emotions and interactions between Andor and his friends, and why he is the tortured soul we see during Rogue One. Also, nice to see the further background of the Empire's "middle management" and dealing with the rest of the worlds beyond just Tattooine.
Tons of books, comics, series and games shows SW far of Tatooine.
@@miotony1 I love the books but they are constantly getting decanonized by the live action projects, even the ones published in the Disney era

I’m just imagining tears running down Maarva’s face w/ B there… bix in pain… and andor flashing back to the past as he leaves his family again once more…
Also the start of this song reminds me of kotor I intro…
It feels so good to have a show that does the Star Wars Universe justice. The setting, characters, music and writing are all exceptional. So much better than anything we've gotten in the last 7 years in terms of mature storytelling.
Clone Wars TV show wasn’t mature?
@@amuroray9115 Largely, no. I went back and watched it last year. Aside from the odd episode in the last two seasons, it wasn't very mature, especially the first 5 seasons. You're forgetting the show aired on cartoon network, a channel for kids primarily. While there were relatively mature moments, it wasn't a mature show. That doesn't mean I think it was bad show either just btw.

Best Star War since Empire Strikes back.
The "Sir we need to get out of here!" hit hard ngl
I cannot believe I’m saying this, but this is one of the, if not the, best score composed for any star wars movie or show in the disney-star wars era.
@@okedoke1234 That one was pretty awesome too! To say the very least, I thought Nicholas Britell did an excellent job! :)
For me, the sadness of this beautiful theme reflects the fact that we know where all this is going to lead Cassian.
3:15 is queue goosebumps for me…such a stellar soundtrack that really made the ending of episode 3 one of my favorite Star Wars moments in the last 10 years
Stunning scene, fantastic music!
Ditto!
"You cant stay, and i can't go."
I know it's only been three episodes but I love this show so far
Andor is a gem. It's easily the best TV show of the year.
He's been in this fight since he was 6 years old. And he's not stopping now
That line has so much more meaning now.
Adult STAR WARS
We are all here because we felt the same as we watched the show. I love Star Wars and this series gives me hope that there is still a version of it with soul out there
Episode 1: Wow...this looks different.
Episode 2: Ah...this kinda good.
Episode 3: HYPE
Aint we all feel the same…
Episode 8 mindblown!
Episode 10: me chanting “ONE WAY OUT!” with everyone and shedding a tear over Kino Loy’s “I can’t swim…” moment.
If only he lived in a different time period...
So far, this is the best Star Wars live-Action show.
Best Star Wars TV Series
I swear the best Star Wars film is where there are no Jedi. It all about the sacrifice and bravery of the common folks.
squiggy18 absolutely spot-on perfect. Totally agree. Nothing hits me emotionally like this story , these characters, this score, their sacrifice.....Ep 12 just wrecks me every time
i’m in love with this soundtrack!
me totally too!

11 episodes in and I can honestly say its probably the best star wars show so far
Let's agree, it was a masterpiece
I just watched Ep. 6 "The Eye" and it was by far the best piece of Star-Wars media I have ever consumed to this date. I can't wait for the finale in Ep. 12!

I cried several times during the series. The show is truly magical, it felt so real, touched the strings of my soul.
Best DisneyPlus show yet. The music is beautiful. Hope to get more grounded projects like this in Star Wars in the future. Can't wait for Season 2.
You know what I love about that show ? It takes its time, you see a lot of characters, solid background, dirt, misery, no fancy Jedi, no force. Just the struggle and life under oppression, some scenes reminded me of France during world war 2 (when the imperial troops chose to take the hostel as their headquarters, just like the gestapo in some French town)
It’s grim, hopeless, dark,
And cassian isn’t a white knight, he kills, sometimes potential Friends. I just love this character. Loved him in rogue one. And I’m so glad they are extending his story (and also ; Melshi !!!!!!!!)
Best Star Wars show by far, and best TV show from this year in my opinion
Most skillful screen writing in entire star wars franchise. All of you disagreeing are wrong
People who dislike Andor are room-temperature IQ simpletons, period. This show is objectively a masterpiece by any standards. And by Star Wars standards, it went beyond any and all expectation i ever thought i'd have.
This show caught me completely off guard. For all the doubt I had, I must sincerely apologize. There is so much soul in this show.
You can feel the rising crescendo: The growing of an Empire,
The rage of the oppressed.
Such a beautiful track for such a beautiful scene
Love this song and love this journey but i got tears in my eyes knowing how Jyn and Andor end this journey...
Wow...absolutely beautiful. God bless this show
Britell is killer. Seriously delivers across the episodes that were released. It almost makes up for Obi Wan!
Almost
Nothing will make up for that but it will stand strong on its own
Yeah after hearing his score for the Netflix movie The King, I knew Andor was gonna be a musical treat :)
I can't stop listening to this soundtrack! I am freaking obsessed
I loved the first 3 episodes and absolutely LOVED this tune!! Almost made me cry
"never more than twelve" epicness redefined
the sunset appeared before me and immediately thought of this masterpiece ❤
This theme just one of the BEST star wars themes
You have clearly not heard ANY good Star Wars music then, other then just the cliche ones. Listen to the Solo soundtrack, and the prequel soundtracks. So much better than this simple, generic, trash. Its literally like 7 notes over and over! 😂 Your brains must be too small to comprehend real music
Best Star Wars show ever!!
I am crying now before ending 3th episode
This is the best Star Wars has been since Episode V. My god what a brilliant show, I want to immediately go back to those characters and their worlds.
I really like this music, I do not know if my comment will be seen, but I wanted to congratulate this beautiful work!
I adore it
A great show. The fights against the empire, the control, the manipulation, the repressation... Somehow a mirror of our times we live in ...
This is the theme of Andor saving the Star Wars universe from the sequels that we shall never mention ever again. This, this is *A New Hope*
I've seen the third episode of Andor three times, and the end brings me to tears every time (and I'm not one to cry at movies). The opening arc of this show is filmmaking at it's finest.
@A 23 M. ooh yeah i didn't even think of that
The ending episode isn't too shabby 😊

Low key made me cry. Just makes me think of how I faced the odds these past years. The things I’ve lost like my home, my family, my brother i served with, and most importantly my hope. Y’all andor had me actually hopeful for once idk if that sounds odd but I felt very joyful watching and helped keep my mind off from wondering

Andor S2 is the only hope i have for future of sw. Epic series.
Just now noticed that the quiet piano from 2:39 - 2:47 plays the same classic star wars notes that can be heard when Luke goes to look at the twin suns on Tatooine.
I noticed too and wanted to comment on it but decided to search the comments first to see if I was the only one... and here you were!
It’s absolute genius!
And knowing that he helped both build and destroy the Death Star which killed him at the end :(
I'm naming my son Cassian.

This track definitely delivered in the right place! One of the best I heard yet!
Just watched ep3 the ending scenes were cinematic masterpiece .... I literally got goosebumps
A very inspiring track, an oddly fitting redemption theme for Disney's star wars shows as of late.
It's a dark yet hopeful piece of amazing music. Then again, rebellions are built on hope.
