Love this interview from 1976, I can hear her speak all day. She has such a pristine, elegant, regal, renaissance yet childlike playful tone in her voice. Her transparency and personality is beyond extraordinary. Love that is talking to the director George Stevens son, whom she made two of her iconic legendary films with. Giant and A Place in the Sun. Nothing phony, artificial or fake about Elizabeth Taylor. True beauty and feminine prettiness, inside and out.

Awesome interview - the best of Taylor I have ever seen. There was a lot more to her than I thought. My favorite film Taylor made was Giant. Watching her go from the ingenue in the pink dress to the gray haired matriarch of an amazing family - the scenes with Dean among the best screen moments ever. So authentic so real. He scenes with Rock on the porch when they first met and the scene on the ranch porch where Dean punches Rock - so real. Hudson did such a good job as the rancher - cowboy - powerful mover and shaker in Texas - captured a time in American history worth remembering.

I think Elizabeth Taylor was older than 16 when she started filming “a place in the sun” movie .. I’ve read many books on the subject... she was more like 17 or 18... I don’t know how she got the years mixed up...also Elizabeth was really the last real impressive “Movie Star”... there’s not one actor or actress today that’s worth meeting in person or really reading about... they are all boreing and dim compared to Elizabeth’s drama filled career and real life marriages and drama filled life. She was in the era when stars still really lived. She was very lucky she was born in 1932... perfect timing ...otherwise she would have missed it all.

She says that she was 16 when she made A Place in the Sun, but the movie came out in August, 1951 when she would have been 19 years old. Does it take 2 years before they publicly release a movie? Also, the movie is based on an old turn of the century crime that involved a Chester Gillette who was executed for the death of Grace Brown. Theodore Dreiser based his novel "An American Tragedy" on this crime that subsequently turned into two films, the later being "A Place in the Sun" which went on to win 6 Academy Awards.

      Dear user,
The interview was recorded the 28th October, 1982.
At the begining, before starting the interview, suddenly the first clapperboard appears; then, just pause the image: you can check very closely exactly the recording date, the archive/file title, the sequence number, director's name... It is really interesting.
I guess 1996 was VHS tape editing year as a private archive; No audiences, no commercial purpose either, but particular collection editing.
Hope will be useful to you.
      Greetings.

She said ERA, for Equal Rights Amendment in 1:10;45. Elizabeth may not have known that men have many, many journals that speak about the Buddy System, 2 in 2 out, I've Got Your Back, and 70+% of editors are male. Women don't have this in print. Men have it in print every month as a requirement for hunting, fishing, scuba diving, sky diving, military, firefighting, police. Hospitals, schools and churches don't have anything like the Buddy System in print. This is why 1% of the Bible are the spoken words of women, and 99% are the spoken words of men. It is called suppression. And it is in black and white in print, and it is in the Bible too.

She was soooo weird. She never saw a film storyboard? Get real those have been used since film began. Seriously Taylor knew how to pretend so many things for the camera. She always felt she had to perform. In this interview there are flashes of direct truth alternating with whimsy reverie schtick.

    • @mrxman581

She was 16 or 17 when she said she hadn't seen a storyboard. It was her first adult role so probably paid more attention to the technical aspects of film making.
