In the comic books, Tony is an alcoholic and struggles for a while and loses everything then has to rebuild. One the the reasons that RDJ was drawn to the character.
Yeah, the Demon In A Bottle storyline
Yep. And Rhodey was the one wearing the Iron Man suit.
The RDJ cheeseburger story.
I like that these characters all have very human problems despite being superheroes. It makes Tony Stark more relatable.
@@reactswithjax That's been Marvel's hallmark ever since Stan and Jack launched The Fantastic Four back in 1961. Heroes who acted believably, who got cranky, sad, depressed, arrogant, jealous, in addition to wanting to help and save people.
I had read somewhere that the reason Tony always throws up the peace sign is because that's what the soldier did in the first movie when he was trying to take a picture with him. Tony made fun of him for it, and the soldier died shortly after. It was Tony's way of honoring him.
OMG! I love that 😭😭😭
@@reactswithjaxthe kid that Tony saves in the end was confirmed to be Tom Hollands spider man!
@@brandonlinkbullwhips It wasn't written that way, it something Tom Holand said he thought would be cool. Actually, if true it really ruins the timeline, since it wouldn't fit with Parker's Age
Peace Sign is V for victory in many places, but its possible.
@@TearDownGenesis Peter Parker was 14 in Captain America: Civil War (2016). Since Iron Man 2 takes place roughly six months after the first movie, Peter would have been 6 or 7 years old. The timeline works.
23:15 "I had no idea this movie was gonna be so much about his internal struggles and his self evolution"
Buckle up for the ride, Jax. The ENTIRE MCU is about Tony's character evolution. You've barely scratched the surface of the growth he goes through. And it's amazing to see.
The thing is it's not just Tony. This whole journey is watching all these characters go through growth and pain, triumph and tragedy. Nat is just one example. By the time you get to the end, you see and feel about her in a way you never thought you would.
I love Pepper's motherly "No". Like Tony is some kid begging for a new toy.
I've long thought that the exchange sounds like a six-year-old and his mom.
Hahaha! She is so patient with him 😂
that's one of the reasons he loves her: she enforces boundaries on him, without flinching.
Not only was RDJ the perfect actor for Tony but he improvised so many of his scenes that made it into the movies instead of what was intended
He is the perfect Tony. His improv skills must be incredible!
Fun fact: Tony battles alcoholism in the comics and some of the plot points in this movie come from that storyline.
the next movie deals with the extremis project but i feel they really messed it up. That should have been when Tony becomes way more bad ass
I love that they pay homage to his comic book character by referencing that.
RDJ was perfectly cast. Smart, funny, troubled, charming, old enough to carry the gravity of a Tony Stark, and perpetually adolescent enough to project that in stages over ten years.
He IS Iron Man.
Yep, you nailed it. He is perfect for this role. 🧡
In general, the MCU has amazing casting, but the only one that compares to RDJ as Tony Stark was Iman Vellani as Kamala. Like RDJ, she is the character.
@@tofu_golem I don't know Kamala from the comics, but Ms. Vellani totally embraced that performance.
Tony's character arc mirrors RDJ's real life.
@@tofu_golem Yeah, except distant tenth.
The MCU doesn't fold without Kamala.
"Sam Rockwell? I love him! He's one of my favorite actors!" He's so amazing in this movie, if slightly underutilized. One of the best-acted Marvel antagonists.
Sam Rockwell is such an underrated actor. I loved him in this role.
wanna kow something funny, when this came out, for a minute i thought it was Dana Carvey... lol
Hahahaha! I can see the Dana Carvey resemblance!
@@reactswithjax gave me "Master of Disguise" vibes. lol
@@reactswithjax I don't know if you've seen "Mr Right", but if you haven't... I imagine you'll enjoy it. An action RomCom with Sam Rockwell at his most Rockwelliest, opposite Anna Kendrick. It's a good time, I don't know why it seemed to fly under the radar the way it did. (I get that Rockwell, while great, isn't a huge name, but he's relatively well known and Anna Kendrick *is* pretty big, so... oh well.)
It's never really explicitly explained because Captain America came out AFTER this movie, but because you watched Captain America first, it'll actually make more sense;
The new element Tony created is likely synthesized Tesseract energy, based off of Howard's notes and studies of the Tesseract when he found it in the ocean at the end of Cap's movie.
Otherwise, it's never really explained what the "new element" is 😅
Also, you said at the end, "Tony's still doing his peace sign" ✌️ he does that alot through out the series because the soldier at the beginning of the first movie who asked to do a peace sign in their selfie was Tony's first casualty experience.
Fantastic reaction and please don’t change a thing, LOL. Going into these films spoiler free is the way to go. It’s almost impossible not to be spoiled and some reactors have had big moments innocently ruined when doing research, so I love what you’re doing and hearing your predictions before the films. Great job and I cannot wait for you to see where this all goes.
Good to know going in blind is the way to go! I have been trying to avoid spoilers at all costs haha! I can't wait to see where this story goes!
@@reactswithjax ,
Theory (one Never, to my knowledge, Ever Stated "in-Universe"): Tony's "superpower" is 'biological / energetic Inertial-Dampening', (basically an internal "force-field"), which is the ONLY way he could even survive ANY of the moves / directional-changes his suit puts him through (or is subjected to); fore in reality, one's body DOES NOT stop when the vehicle stops, one continues to travel at that sustained velocity until all inertia is transferred to the impacted object... that continued movement (even within the body / skull) is what k*lls a person above ~36MPH, when hitting a stationary or much slower object, without some form of dampening (seat-belts, airbags, padding, etc). Tony's suits may also provide "more" energetic inertia canceling "force-fields", but he did survive many "death dealing" blows, before donning the entire suit (while in the "testing phase" in the first movie), without having to be transferred to a hospital, unlike normal humans.
[ I know this second-hand, through my Father's death which resulted from hitting his head upon an SUV's roof, as it was traveling at that range of speed, while riding his bicycle (he was wearing a helmet). His body had no visible marks, even hours later as he took his last slow breath, when he passed with his entire family (even siblings from out-of-state) gathered by his home bedside; moved into the "Living room" (there-after named the "Death room"; the 3rd-story attic became the new "Living room"). The Doctors said that the impact, through his helmet, had squashed / ruptured his hind-brain and brain-steam. He only looked as though he was sleeping, until he was no longer breathing!; then, that very instant, my Father was no longer present, it was only a body that "resembled" him, but it was NOT him. I was only 16 when he was taken from me, the day before my Mother's 43rd-birthday; that was 34yrs ago {my Mother stopped celebrating her birthday, until recently; can you blame her?}. Plus, the night before 'our morning bike-ride' (during an argument) I had told him that I "hated" him and that, "I will never go biking with you again." ...... Be careful what you say, because you never know if it may come true.]
Have a great day/evening, Jacqueline. You are a joy to watch.
Sincerely,
Zragonal
I'm so glad to have discovered your channel. Your reactions are immediate and reviews so well thought out that they have quickly become one of my favorite go-tos for this category of content. The fact that your obvious intelligence is complimented by such a beautiful smile and natural beauty is an incredible draw and makes me feel I'm re-watching and appreciating movies with an excellent friend. Thank you Jax.
in the comic they played the bodyguard front for many years before Tony finally admitted it was him all along.
Yeah, almost EVERYONE had secret identities. But when Tony said "I am Iron Man.", it let everyone know that the MCU would be very different from the comics, as secret identities were a very important part of who these characters were, and the choices they made.
@@Termite30 Tbh, I think the reason why it works is not just being a change up from the comics, but because it actually fits the character and some of the themes a bit better.
Interesting! I didn't know that having a secret identity was important to Tony's storyline. It felt so organic for him to announce he was Iron Man. That must have been exciting when everyone realized this was going to be way different from the comics.
What's funny is that it's not even that he admitted it: there was a dog (or was it a cat? I think it was a dog) who was in immediate danger, and the only way for Tony to save it was to put on the Iron Man armor in public, while he was doing an interview. So that's how he blew up his cover: to save a dog.
Howard Starks message to Tony makes me cry every time. Its such great writing and acting which really hit for me.
so now you're starting to see it. the entire MCU is a single unified narrative spread out over a couple dozen movies & several TV shows. it's the biggest damn show anybody's ever made. welcome to the MCU.
It is all so intricate! It's fun to start piecing things together.
It is also why the dcu keeps failing due to them not realizing this
Marvel Studios has also been known to produce a number of 'one-shots', short films usually around 10 minutes long. One starring Clark Gregg is called "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Thor's Hammer".
Your pop culture clips and cutaways were ON POINT in this video! I got a good laugh out of you wearing the goggles 😂 Based on how happy the end credit scenes are making you, I'm glad you're watching in release order! As far as I'm concerned it's the only way.
"I was here first, get a roof."
My favourite line in all of Marvel's movies except "hes adopted" xD
My favorite line is "The city is flying.... The city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense" from Age of Ultron.
The Iron man suit in the briefcase was a callout to Iron man comics of the sixties and seventies, where he actually DID carry around a compressed version of the suit in a briefcase.
Please don't watch trailers before watching the movies! Love seeing your blind reaction 💛
Living for these MCU reactions! (Especially with how well you pay attention and pick up on details)
I'm so glad you like the reactions!!! 🧡🧡
The difference is Steve Rogers with the dancers wasn't his direction, he was doing as he was told.
Tony it's all his direction, by choice.
Very true!
Yes, but the end goal isn't just (if at all) to feed his ego, IMO. I think his priority is to use his popularity/showmanship abilities to have people care about what he cares about: the future and leaving a better one behind for future generations. It was a publicity stunt for Stark Expo. Sometimes, I really feel like not enough people, in canon as well as in the fandom, question Tony's public persona/his masks.
Hint: Don't forget about that little boy at the Expo. He's someone special.
He must be awfully Petered out after staying up so late ;)
Love RDJ as Tony, no one else can play Iron Man ever again bc he nailed it so hard. Great reaction, love the channel, keep it up
I can't imagine anyone else playing Tony Stark but RDJ. Glad you liked the reaction!!
Cool thing about the way Phase 1 intertwined/connected is that there is something known as “Fury’s Big Week”! Basically, imagine Iron Man 2 (Tony, Natasha & Rhodey)took place like Friday-Monday. Then The Incredible Hulk (Bruce), movie was Tuesday- Wednesday. Then Thor (Thor and Clint) takes place Wednesday-Friday. Then Friday morning, Fury gets a call that Captain America (Steve) was found in the ice. That’s not exactly the time line, but is close enough to get the point.
Great reaction video.
That's so cool! I can't imagine having all that pile up in one week!
@@reactswithjaxthe old man that died in the first scene was Anton Venko. He helped Howard Stark create the first arc reactor before Howard discredited him and exiled him to Siberia
You're always so happy and fun to watch in your reactions! Keep it up along your MCU journey!
Thank you! Watching these movies has been so much fun!
I love that the latin Natasha Romanov uses in 31:25 is "Fallaces sunt rerum species", which means "appearances can be deceiving"... Not only did she have the perfect comeback, she said it in Latin just to make it extra good.
The message tony gets from his dad always gets me teary eyed, my dad passed in 2008.. I would do ANYTHING to get a message like that from him..
7:03 Did you catch the moment when Rhodey shook Tony's hand and they basically addressed the recasting? I'm not sure if it was intentional, but if so, it's quite subtle, and super smart, lol.
"Hey buddy, didn't expect to see you here."
"Look, it's me, I'm here, deal with it. Let's move on."
"It's just--"
"Just drop it!"
We're gonna need you to crank these reactions out quick
28:09 Remember that the Mark 2 suit (the silver one) was a flight prototype. Tony never installed any dedicated weapons on that suit, which is why they asked Hammer here to install some.
1:41 yeah that line where Robert Downey Jr said that he was iron man, yeah that was definitely improvised by Robert Downey Jr.
In the first iron man movie, he did many improvisations and one another I remember was him saying to Pepper as he getting out of the iron man suit, he says: Lets face it, this is not the worst thing you've caught me doing. 😂😂 Enjoy Jax
Fun fact about the First Iron Man movie, almost everything was improvised in that movie
Wow...well, they nailed it!
They did ad-lib some scenes, but it was in no way unscripted.
i am so happy i discoverd Jax...her reactions make me so happy and its like i am rediscovering marvel all over again and she is the sweetest thing!!!! so awesome and funny! :) im a major fan already!!
(Movie shows blueprints)
(Blueprints say "Arc Reactor")
"That looks like the thing in Tony's chest! Everyone's just making these things now. How does he know how to do that?"
Absolutely stunning
That "I want one" line will always be iconic
Yes!
In the comics, Tony crashed a race car and was rescued by an ex-boxer watching the race. He offered a treat it the guy asked for a job. Realizing this was a good guy to have around, he hired Happy as his chauffeur -- which was interesting because he had always driven himself.
That's so cool!
"That kid's gonna be so proud of himself..." That kid became an Avenger.
No, that idea was just post hoc fan service that never had any grounding in either the film or the source material.
That's awesome! I look forward to seeing that!
@@bigdream_dreambig *Facepalm* *Sigh* No sh*t!
Jon Favreau did play Rocky Marciano a real life boxer in a movie. And also Natasha's hero name is Black Widow
PLEASE don't watch trailers or read anyone's comments about things you haven't seen yet. It will definitely spoil the fun of the reveals when they happen ... at the appropriate time.
Now, Ivan's (Mickey Rourke) character knew how to make an Arc Reactor, because those plans you saw him looking at were a joint effort between his father and Howard Stark, Tony's dad. So, he didn't have to be a genius, and as it actually proves out, he wasn't. He just followed the plans, but it was Tony who told him how to make the result stronger/more powerful.
Jacqueline (Jax) : It's Papa Stark
Steve : Yeah, a HUGE improvement over their 1st choice ... Papa Smurf
Tony: I was going to make you an omelet and tell you.
Jax: That was what the omelet was .. it was an omelet of ... here's your food ...
Steve: No, it was an, "Omelet you know something about me that is going to upset you ..."
BTW, no where on the planet is it easy to know or bypass a password without either knowing it (a default or standard one that everyone uses), knowing specific information about the person whose account you're trying to hack, or finding a piece of paper or computer file with the password written down on/in it. There IS a means in some systems to force it to wipe out the password, but in this movie, none of those things applied, since he was approaching a new system he had never seen. It's just something movies use to make it appear that the person is a genius hacker but, NO ONE'S THAT GOOD.
About watching the movies out of order ...
I realize you think it was a good thing, hindsight and all, but it was the WRONG thing. You weren't meant to understand certain things yet, and as you know, they would have all been revealed to you in due (and at the proper) time. Instead, things from this movie, as well as that one, won't have the same impact that they might have had. You may appreciate it, but you would have appreciated it more if you had waited. As a bad analogy, when a lot of guys want sex, they want to "finish" quickly, because it's all about the climax and they can't wait to get there. As a woman, I'm sure you know about this. Women USUALLY need time to warm up to the moment, and so need and want you to take your time getting there ... watching the movies out of order is like finishing sex too quickly ... yeah, it feels good ... for a moment, but it could have felt GREAT, and for far longer and much deeper than the quick one.
All that said, I still absolutely love your reactions and I think you're awesome 👍😊🥰❣❣.
I’ve seen this movie no less than two dozen times, and it wasn’t until watching your reaction that I realized Tony says “grab your crocs”… the way I’ve always heard the phrase is “drop your (not crocs) and grab your socks”, and my brain apparently just filled in that’s what Tony was saying 😅
Great reaction! Yeah this movie in particular was natasha’s aka black widow’s first debut from this movie .
She was incredible in this! I'm instantly a fan of Black Widow 🧡
Insightful. Your're absolutely right on the way this movie makes "the great Tony Stark" more relatable as a fellow human being with the palladium poisoning.
It was a brilliant method to amalgamate Tony Stark's alcoholism story arc from the early 80's in the comic.
I loved this storyline for Tony. His genius is entertaining and incredible, but his humanity is what makes me want to keep watching him. I am sure he has a lot more evolving to do. I can't wait to see how he coexists with the other Avengers.
Don't pre-study. Don't worry about that side of it. Go into the journey blind. Like you're Day 1 in the theatre. There are some cool spoilers etc., along the way and if you even scratch the surface of investigation you'll probably spoil some of them. The creators did a great job building out the story. Let them tell it. :)
WHOOP WHOOP! FANTASTIC reaction! Your reaction was thoroughly entertaining! SO glad that you enjoyed this! And I always look forward to your reaction vids! You're truly great!!
Fun fact about the missile ExWife, Hammer says it’s a ‘kinetic-kill side-winder vehicle’. Meaning it needs to be accelerated to an extremely high velocity to be effective. Rhodey was way to close to his target to work, soo which means it was tecnically Rodey's fault it didnt work.
That's such a great detail!!! Thanks for pointing that out! I thought Hammer products just didn't work.
43:15 I love the instant transition from somber 😟to radiant 😁! You're such a natural Jax!
One little detail I’m glad they added later, was that the kid wearing the iron man mask who pointed at the drone was later confirmed to be Peter Parker because Tom saw a theory about that and wanted it to be canon, so they just said “Sure, that’s young Peter Parker”
On the off chance you weren't aware, Leslie Bibb, who plays the Vanity Fair reporter, is actually married to Sam Rockwell. They've been married since 2007.
In comic Tony Stark is an Alcoholic, nowadays he's sober but it wasn't always the case. that part of what made RDJ so perfect to play him
I can't imagine anyone other than RDJ playing Tony.
Fun fact: The kid to whom Tony said nice work kid is actually a young Peter Parker (Spidey)....
Peter Parker? Who's he? Spidey? Huh? (wink wink)
No, the kid isn't Peter Parker. That idea was just post hoc fan service that never had any grounding in either the film or the source material.
@ bigdream. The writers and filmmakers have confirmed in interviews that to them it was always Peter, but they couldn't make it official because they didn't have the rights to Spidey. They acknowledged it only after it became legally ok to say.
@@Scott-ec4cs Maybe I'm just cynical, but I don't buy it. And regardless, to me, the only thing that's ever "canon" is what shows up in the last cut of the film. Older script drafts and deleted scenes are just might-have-beens. When some future Spider-Man MCU film refers to the incident, _then_ I'll accept it, but not before.
@Big Dream cool by me. I totally understand. I really don't want to sound like I'm bashing you at all. Your point is completely valid. Just thought you might like to know why so many people treat it that way. Props to you. Have fun.
Jacqueline, yes! Down the MCU road Tony will fulfill his destiny.
I'm really enjoying the captions and jokes that you add during editing. And some of those you sneak in while recording.
"Don't mess with him. He's Stern." 😁
I've had a pretty miserable 48 hours, but your reaction was one of the things to brighten my day. Thank you, Jax!
I'm sorry the past couple of days have been rough. 🧡 I'm so glad this helped brighten your day and that you liked the jokes! Sometimes I laugh way too hard at them 😂
❤ love your reactions! Your enthusiasm with these movies makes me excited to see more of your Marvel reactions😊
I have watched a lot of people on UA-cam do what you are doing, but I think I like your shows the best. Plus, I LIKE dad jokes. :)
I love the script in this movie. Best superhero name drop, "you wanna be the War Machine take your shot". Fury about Rhody taking the suit, "little brother broke in kicked your ass and he just took it!?!?!?!?" About his dad, "dead for 30 years, still taking me to school." Also the little gem, "Its your fault I just wanted to say I am sorry." Finally textbook narcissism hahaha are some of my favorites.
one of my favourites is "most countries 5 to 10 years away, Hammer industries 20" 😂
If you can make God bleed, people will cease to believe in Him.
Stark sings: "Forget your troubles, come on get Happy..."
Technically the events of Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2 and Thor are happening at the same time. They call it “Nick Fury’s Big Week” in the official timeline.
That must have been some week!
@@reactswithjax They actually made a short comic series that ties all the events in more (It's also called "Fury's Big Week", lol). I never read it myself but I should do that some time...
They get better and better! I also like the ORIGIN films for each character BUT the Avengers series are my favorite! I look forward for you seeing those!
I can't wait to get to The Avengers! These origin movies are fun but I'm looking forward to seeing what they are all building towards! I also want to see these characters all interact with one another.
Fun fact, that kid who puts his hand up the drone trooper was retconned to canonically be Tom Holland's Spiderman who you'll meet in phase 2 (dw I won't spoil which movie but if you know ya know)
Also this movie gets a lot of hate (I think cause its tropey? Idk, no one is ever specific besides "they recast Rhodey") but its honestly one of my favourites
The kid is also played by Jon Favreau’s son Max Favreau.
For me, the biggest issue with this movie is that it seems to be more about setting things up for Avengers than its own plot.
@@Starsaber222yeah besides the whole Tony Stark development.
The late Gary Shandling played the senator who ordered Tony Stark to turn over the Iron Man armor. Rare dramatic role for Shandling.
Also, knowing that Senator Stern was a secret agent for HYDRA gives his wanting the Iron Man “weapon” turned over to the “people” make even more sense. HYDRA definitely wouldn’t want anyone to have the capability to fight them successfully.
I don't think it's a bad thing that you saw Captain America first. It's really sequentially the first movie in the timeline, and it doesn't really spoil anything. Like you said, it gave you a little bit more insight to Tony.
Glad you finally uploaded Endgame! I've been holding off on this series until you did so I can binge them! Lol
38:30 As the movies and tie-in tv shows progress they begin to show that despite a lack of superpower, SHIELDs have fantastic fighting skills.
So if nobody has already pointed this out palladium is a radioactive rare earth metal, so Tony basically has a tiny nuclear reactor in his chest.
“Dead 20 years still taking me to school” my favorite line in this movie
It's a great line!
@@reactswithjax that it is, love your videos! Can’t wait to see more!
As soon as I saw this video in my feed, I was like, yay, haha.
Haha! ❤
Fun Fact: Leslie Bibb (blonde journalist) and Sam Rockwell are married in real life.
WHAT!?!?! That is so cool!
6:04 Another fun fact: Senator Stern is Hydra.
The end credit "Easter Eggs" show you why you NEED, no MUST watch them in release order instead of chronological order, because rather than just being a cool "extra scene" or something random ... they usually reference something "coming up" in the next movie or so.
The end credits scenes have been so fun to watch! They really add more to the story.
Love you Jax!!! Keep up the good work!!
Thank you! ♥♥
23:35, in the comics they did an entire multipart story in which Tony Stark becomes a full blown alcoholic and almost loses everything. It was called "Demon in a Bottle"
The one thing i like about Tony Stark above all is that he always gives back to those who helped him. No matter if it's a big service or a small one. When he considers you a friend you are set for life. And he takes it very hard when he loses one of those friends. Especially if the burden is on him. He has many faults, but that isn't one of them.
By the way. If you like to get to know Agent Coulson better there is a Series called Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. It is 7 seasons long i believe and it kinda plays off through the main movies you are watching with many elements of the not so much covered topics in the movie. Which makes it a pretty interesting watch of what happens behind the scenes. I do recommend watching this after the first Avengers movie. As it picks up from there. And every season or set of episodes intersects with the events of another movie loosely.
I really appreciate Tony's loyalty and dedication to the people he cares about. Also, I've heard Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is great! Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm really enjoying watcching this reactor she actually has a brain she doesn't have to have everything spelled out she figures it out she remembers the character she remembers the name she knows what's going on and she can kind of deduce what's going on without having to be force-fed I love her
Rhodey's superhero name is War Machine
I didn't know that! Thank you
Movie shows the blueprint of the Arc reactor in the villain's hand which was designed by the villain's dad and Tony's father. Tony managed to miniaturized it thus what is in his chest and so did the villain. Without the blueprint its impossible for anyone except Tony do it.
Jax: How did he know how to build that?
Us: 🤦♂
When Scarlett made her first appearance on the screen as 'Natalie Rushman', I realized immediately that she was Black Widow, as the name she gave Tony was similar to one of the cover identities (Nancy Rushman) she had used in the past, and one in she had actually regressed into for a period of time after being captured & tortured by Viper/Madame Hydra during her plot to crash the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier into the Capital Building (Marvel Team-Up #82-85).
When Tony & Captain America meet you'll see Tony is very hostile towards Steve. That's partly explained in this movie, when Tony say "my father never even said he liked me," when in a later movie he grumbles "And this is the guy my dad never shut up about..." He's jealous of the obvious respect & affection Howard had for Steve.
The way I heard the Spidey story is that it was just a random kid at first, and the Peter hypothesis was a poplar fan concept the studio later embraced.
A lot of the integration of these movies is due to the work of Kevin Feige, coordinating the different productions. I wish LucasFilms had something similar for the later Star Wars movies.
marvel eventually turned that "knowing how to deliver comedy" to "knowing how to ruin serious moments."
We need your Marvel movie reacts twice a week please 😭🙏🏽✨
At least!!! 😊😊😊
I have one dislike of this channel. That it's only one per week.
@24:10 I do too. It’s still hard to believe that they included Randy’s Donuts in this film. I just wish they still sold those muffins with filling. Those were my favorites years ago.
@40:32 my favorite part of this film is seeing Iron Man and War Machine destroy robots together.
Why was it hard for you to believe that they included a Los Angeles landmark in a film set in Greater Los Angeles?
I recently went to Randy's...the donuts tasted a bit different. They were bought in 2015 so I'm not sure if some of their recipes changed. Seeing it in this film brought back good memories 🧡
" I love a smart villain ", Blows himself up . Kidding aside great reaction . Looking forward to the next one .
Did Rhodey steal the suit? No. Scarlett/Black Widow even states @25:07 that there are redundancies built into the suits to prevent unauthorized access. That means Tony had to have built the suit for Rhodey. Or at the very least, gave him access to wear it.
Your Iron Man 1 reaction was the first video of yours I saw (last week), so glad you're doing 2 now. you're reactions are great and your personality is super easy to fall in love with. I'm locked in 😌❤

A smart villain would blow up right away, but they always use a warning alarm before selfdestruct, so the hero can escape. Anyways nice reaction :D
Haha! So true! Glad you liked it 🧡
Cap and Black Widow are my faves too! 👍👍
I came here for insightful comments, the early movies of the MCU, an enjoyable and delightful personality, and fantastic memes (especially The Office). Mission accomplished. 😊
BONUS: A shout-out to waffles!! 😋
Remember the 'actor' playing Happy Hogan is also the director, who is having a whale of a time making fun of 'himself'.
Cap was doing his part to help the war efforts at home. The Stark Expo as Pepper said is Tony’s ego gone wild. Not a fair comparison. Otherwise, I love your reactions and check daily for new uploads! Keep up the great reactions. I can’t wait for you to get past the sort of origin stories and really good movies. Winter Soldier, Civil War, Guardians etc…
Well it's a great comparison but for a different reason. The Steve's show and Tony's show were virtually identical. The difference is that someone else was making a show out of Steve while Tony was making a show out of himself.
I’m glad I found someone as enthusiastic about these movies as I was keep it up
They are so fun! I can't wait to see where this story goes!
Remember the kid in the Iron Man mask in the future because he plays a very important part in the future movies I guarantee you won't be able to figure out who is he 😂😂😂
The first scene wasn't really him doing shows like captain america did. Steve was a puppet of the army, Tony was like a rockstar.
This must be my favorite reaction from you so far!
Your facial expressions are so lively and enchanting, its almost like I'm watching a "Disney Princess reacts to [...]"! 🤩
I must say, while this movie wasn't that well received when it came out, I really liked it! It handled multiple characters/introductions and plotlines very well AND gets better the more you know about the events of the MCU.
(I don't consider it a spoiler because its not further explained in the movies, but in case you didn't draw the connection: Tonys newly invented element is the power of the tesseract from the Captain America movie. You see drawings of the tesseract in Howards notebook and he explains in the video that he just doesn't have the technologie to do anything with it)
Especially watching it now after seeing so much development with all these characters Ironman 2 feels way more important for Tonys character arc than I initially felt when I saw it at the cinema.
Keep up the awesome videos! You're the best!=D
I'm so glad you liked this reaction!!! ❤❤❤
I had NO idea that Tony's new element was related to the tesseract!! Thanks for connecting the dots for me! Wow. It makes sense though, since Howard was studying the tesseract...my mind is blown! (I always appreciate backstory like this because I can't google things without risking spoilers!)
@@reactswithjax To be fair: that tesseract bit was hidden so subtly by Marvel that it was literally impossible to see the connection for first time viewers!
Ironman 2 was released one year before Captain America (and there was another movie inbetween aswell), so people didn't even know about the tesseract or the plot of Captain America and while watching CA, they didn't really think about Tony inventing a new element anymore.
Viewers at the time were more like "sure, now he invents his own elements??"
and just discarded it as sci-fi-fantasy.
The connection only became visible when you rewatched Ironman 2 later!
I found that to be a brilliant way to interconnect everything and so cool to discover even more little details.
Normally I wouldn't have told you all of this, but you already watched Captain America, so I thought it would be a nice addition now and maybe get lost otherwise.
And you are totally right! I never thought about how hard it must be if you want some more information about a MCU movie, but there are like 30 of them now and you will absolutely get spoiled if you google anything!
And this became a wall of text now, haha, sorry! 😅
I also have to say that I really appreciate it when reactors pay attention to detail. So many don’t and it’s frustrating watching their reactions.
The character of Ton Stark (and his father, for that matter) was partly inspired by Howard Hughes, a wealthy, womanizing inventor and pilot in the mid-20th century. The senate hearing scene is inspired by a real-life event where Hughes was brought before the US senate to answer questions about his business practices. Much like Tony does here, Hughes dominated the hearing with his larger-than-life personality and mocked the senator questioning him, and just like Tony does, he was celebrated by the public for successfully "taking on City Hall".
Also, Tony's antics at his party are likely inspired by the well-known "Demon in a Bottle" storyline from the comics, in which Tony has a drinking problem.
And now we live in a corporate run hellscape. Tony's senate hearing here and Hughes' senate hearing are incomparable.
Wow...I had no idea that part of this movie was inspired by Howard Hughes. Thanks for sharing that. I also like that they are incorporating Tony's drinking into his storyline.
My new favorite reaction channel! Greetings from Bogotá, Colombia 😎
37:13 little side note, that kid was retconned to be young Peter Parker
I'm glad you had the "good continuation of Tony's deveopment" take away for this movie, as I do too and it's a big part of why I like Iron Man 2 a lot (probably more than many do). In the first movie, we see him start to shed the more negative side of his ego (though of course that ego is still a big part of him), and in the sequel this expands to him needing to learn to open up to and rely on others.
He's dying, but rather than sharing this with Pepper and Rhodey, or maybe even turning to SHIELD for help, he bottles it up. He is so sure he knows best, and that opening up about this wouldn't help and would just bring an emotional burden he can't handle. So instead he just does what he thinks he has to: he signs the company over to Pepper, he lets Rhodey take a suit and gives him the perfect excuse to do so. He does trust them, he's trusting them with two of the biggest and most important things in his life, but he doesn't have the emotional maturity to actually talk with them about it. I've seen some complain about Tony's behaviour during his party, but I suspect he either isn't genuinely drunk, or is at least over-playing it. He's acting like an out of control buffoon in order to prompt Rhodey to take action. In the following scene at the donut place, they even talk about how there's no unauthorised access: Tony really did let Rhodey take the suit.
And this emotionally stunted growth likely comes from Tony's strained relationship with his father, which is why him hearing those words in the recording was so important. Howard kept that shut away for so long, and Tony is doing the same sort of thing by insisting on "going it alone" with his issues. By the end of the movie, Tony is finally opening up to Pepper about his feelings, fought alongside Rhodey to take down Vanko, and is (at least somewhat) playing ball with Nick Fury and SHIELD.
The movie isn't perfect (I would've liked to have seen more development of Rourke's Vanko for instance), but I think it does a lot more good work with Tony's character than people give it credit for.
Marvel really had a great track record for delivering comedic moments up until the end of Phase 3(up to endgame). In phase 4, they still have good comedic moments here and there, but they miss the mark more and more for me.
The Iron Man/War Machine vs the Hammerbots fight is so underrated. It is one of the best fights in the MCU
It was so fun to watch!
After watching your reaction to this movie, I had to subscribe. Really enjoy your sense of humor too! Looking forward to future reactions.
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! ❤️🎉🥳
I love that Mickey Rourke's helmet says "Intervention".
Fun fact the kid in the Ironman mask is Peter Parker Christine Everhart is Justin Hammer if his wife in real life
No, the kid isn't Peter Parker. That idea was just post hoc fan service that never had any grounding in either the film or the source material.
