Installing Haloview Wireless Reversing Camera on a UK Caravan - MC7108

  • The reversing camera is Haloview MC7108 Backup Camera System: amzn.to/2DtNLFW
It's like Christmas arrived early - Haloview sent me this Wireless Reversing Camera for my caravan!!! After many of you kept telling me I need one, I finally do.
I had help installing it from a UA-cam viewer, as I wasn't confident about the electrical attachment and didn't have the right tools to install the camera to the back of the caravan. We attached the wiring to the park light by the number plate and it works well!
What I really like is that it's wireless, so I don't need to thread a wire from the very back of the caravan all the way to the front of the car.
Driving with it on, I find it's great being able to see who is behind me without using my suction cup towing mirror. It's like I finally have the use of a rear-view mirror again.
The more technical facts are: Haloview MC7108 7'' 720P HD Digital Wireless Rear View Camera System. 7'' LCD Reversing Monitor and IP69K Waterproof Backup Camera.

Nice to see Robby properly clean-up the excess adhesive/sealant to produce a clean and tight seal. I have seen so many aftermarket install jobs (inc on our own caravan) where the installer just smudges the sealant on with their thumb. A year later the thin edges start to lift and mold forms under them. It takes just a few extra minutes to do it right, as he did.
He also took the extra few minutes and installed new crimps instead or wrapping the wires around old ones (again a common bodge).
Keep Robby in your phone book, he is clearly a professional proud of his work!

Very handy to have, even just to see what's behind you like that letter box or if someone's about to walk behind the caravan when you reverse into your spot. Considering of getting one now too :)
As for your dirty hands: look up Fumoto Drain Valve. It's a little tap that screws into your oil sump and replaces your bolt. Had it on my car for four years and I love it. Makes oil changes so much easier and cleaner! Cost about AUD 35.

    • @TravellingK

Yes, I've found it particularly helpful when driving, being able to really see who is behind me.
Oh, good to know about the Fumoto Drain Valve. That oil really didn't want to leave my nails, haha

askvor I sure hope that valve is in a 90^, rather straight, I had an oil change company put one on and NOT TELLING ME, well, that valve tore off on a raised manhole over, loosing all the oil, OH, WAS I PISSED, CHEERS FROM NJ, USA

Installed a "back up" camera on my trailer that interfaces with my Garmin GPS. I can toggle between the dash cam and the back up camera. It became necessary after my son, Dave, my official back up guide, became distracted by a very attractive young lady walking by and backed me into a tree. No damage. I was going to buy one of those " watch my behind not her's" bumper stickers but he felt so bad I didn't have the heart to

You mentioned not needing your towing mirrors now. I presume NZ laws are similar to Oz, even if you have a rear facing camera, by law you must have towing mirrors on both sides of your car to cover as many black spots as possible.

    • @TravellingK
      @TravellingK  5 років тому

You know, I don't think that's a strict rule in NZ? I just Googled and saw this "If you can't see behind with your rear-view mirrors, you may need to fit a special mirror." But you're right that it's probably a good idea to still use it.

    Aha, that's cheating !!!!
In the UK it is an offence to use any video device when driving forwards, i.e. you are still required to have the extension mirrors and have the screen turned off whilst in forward motion... That's why vehicles fitted with reversing camera's only work when actually in reverse gear...

So just about every vid you've made where something needs to happen a MAN had to do it for you.. I thought men and women were all equal and women didn't need men!!!
