I have received official confirmation that the 3.2K variant can only be purchased through custom configuration on the Lenovo site. (CTO, Configure To Order). In other words, you unfortunately cannot outright place an order for preconfigured models as this defaults to the 2.5k display models.
The newly recent issued Lenovo Legion laptops are 100% Windows 11 24H2 Ready (24H2 Release Preview was released on May 22nd and is safe to use). BE 100% SURE you have installed NVIDIA Driver 555.85 PRIOR to deploying 24H2 on these laptops as the reviewer here has done so already as stated in the video. NVIDIA Driver 555.85 IS the ABSOLUTE BARE minimum NVIDIA GPU Driver version required for Windows 11 24H2 because it contains the new WDDM v3.2 stuff that 24H2 uses. So as very fair warning, if you are using an older NVIDIA Driver PRIOR to 555.85, you will run into issues if you do not install 555.85 prior to upgrading to 24H2 (this goes the same as for any other system you plan on deploying Win11 24H2 to as well).
They don't, only the Legion 9 have Mini Led and the Legion 5 Slim 14 inch have Oled like what the hell Lenovo? The Legion 7 pro only comes with an IPS screen (even tho it is a $2000 laptop) and it is only 100% SRGB, to get 100%DCI P3 on the Legion 7 pro you have to spend extra to get the one with RTX 4080 and 4090, the Legion 7 Pro with with RTX 4070 is literally just a fancier Legion 5 pro. Like fuck you Lenovo
I just subscribed! Great thought out video. I like you combine your expert observations with some relevant testing data. Do you think the new ColdFront Hyper 5.0 cooling performs better than the side vented design of 2023 (ie Slim) versions?
Hey man, welcome aboard. I think there’s a generous improvement for the 2024 7i over the slim- most notably in thermals and fan noise. If you’re into overclocking/overvolting(within reason), the 7i can provide more consistent performance with ColdFront
Off topic question, can you make a vedio or tell me a more in depth setting on your govee ai sync box? I have many questions like how did you get your lights to turn off when it is shown black, etc.
thank you for the review man, but lenovo oh lenovo, so they made both p5 and 7 pro versions with thick chasis, then made the non pro versions which are supposedely replacing the slim versions respectively the 7i gen 9 and 5i gen9, but the problem with the latter is that it s thick af so they just throw in another 5 with an amd cpu and called it the slim 5, lovely indeed, it could never be clearer for someone to make a choice.
I’m confused why do you recommend getting the 240hz (at 9:00) one over the 164hz one? I’d like a 3.2k display for browsing media. I come from a ps4 and 360 so I believe I’ll be good with 164hz. But you did say 240 is better for bigger games because it’s gpu 600p native resolution is better? Why is it a better choice?
If you’re looking for multipurpose, a jack of all trades, I’d recommend the 3.2K variant. However, if you’re not much of a streamer, and you’re not really looking to create content on this unit, the 2.5K is good bet.
Thank you Mr.Tek! I think I will get that 3.k version but I’ll wait for the amd if they release that this year. Also when it comes to bigger games, why do you prefer the 240hz? Does it have more power?
First review I’ve seen with the eclipse black 😂 quick question, will you do a G16 vs Legion 7i comparison? Or a Yoga 9i vs Legion 7i, I want to see of Yoga 9i gives a substantially better battery life as it will be suited more to a creator like me who also wants to game on the side
I think the yoga 9i and the g16 are a good comparison, same processor and gpu at same tgp too. The 7i is weird this year as I don't think there is a direct competitor to it.
@@aayushkhokhar16 yeah I had a Legion 7i gen 9 before i returned it due to black screen issues, alot of the reviews I see of Yoga 9i is from people with the 4060 version, I want to know how good the battery life of the Yoga is compared to Legion and G16, I think they all still have trash battery life though, so I think based on how upgradable the Legion is, I’ll be picking up a Legion 7i again when it goes on sale

They’re both really good laptops. If you’re able to land, Gen 8 at a significant discount, I’d pull the trigger. However, if we’re talking a few hundred price difference, I’d recommend going for the upgrade.
@@MrTekSuggest I got the Pro 7i Gen 8 (i9 + 32gb ram and RTX 4070) yesterday and it has been really good :) The Legion 7i Gen 9 cost $400 more (in my country) and with that price I can get the Gen 8 with an RTX 4080 instead. I sure wish they would use the design of the legion 7i for the Pro lineup tho, i hate those hexagon vents so much lol, the design of the legion 7i 2022 (and the slim gen 8 and 9) were perfect with those metal vent.

I like the look too. Does the reflecton of the white palmrest show up on the screen?
Does the white variant have a more vulnerable surface than the black?
