    someone please tell me she assumed the direction of moment of inertia opposite to what it actually should be

      the inertia would be directed opposite, but it's a form of representation. here it's more like trying to see what increases or decreases the inertia. on J1 with a minus sign we take the K1 and D1 because they are already working against the rotation, thus lowering the need for inertia, but T tends to force the rotation and thus is taken with a + sign (increases inertia).

    Thanks for this helpful content... but Why are we dividing theta_3 ? Why not the 2 or 1 ?
