  • In this video I explain how I go fit cornice or pelmet trims around my kitchen units. This video demonstrates a very simple box trim which goes above and below the kitchen units. This trim is usually made from MDF but can be from solid wood too.

I put my decor panels and pelmets 5mm forward looks great I tried it flush but after talking to a kitchen fitter of 40 years he said you can do what you want I put perspex back splash and I put some under the bottom of the cupboards looks great. Good video thanx

Can you fit the bottom ones flush to handle less j-pull doors where the j-pull is at the bottom of the wall unit ?

Firm who installed my kitchen cut the cornices with a hand saw and butchered it.. the ends are all hacksawed and now I have to buy a drop saw to cut the new cornices.. fortunately there was 2 lengths left over

I just don’t know why someone would do that. The cuts come out nice a clean with a chop saw and a lot easier.

    Hi
How do you cut the corners if you do not have the add on end panels that are longer and you need to put a cornice around. Do you mitre cut the corners?

Yes I would usually cut a mitre joint and glue the joint with rapid mitre glue.

Is it normal to extend the side panel below the bottom rail?

Personal preference, I've see it like this but with the pelmet recessed back to the cupboard edge as opposed to the door. What ever the customer wants really.
