Revenge of the Goldfish is such an amazing fucking amazing album. How many songs on that album could have been huge... should have been huge? Like this one. These guys were so underrated it is simply criminal.
Hmmm "B", for sure. Superb in tone and range. Compared to Tom Hingley, many vocalists are barely pub-singers. I'm glad that I am not the only one who seems to think that Ian Brown was saved by clever electronics. Ah well. At least Inspiral Carpets managed a decent clutch of albums.
Has a melancholy sound to it, spending cold winters in Manchester does that to you, i know, i have lived here now for more than 25 years!! It's a great city though. Good band
great song like the roses and the mondays but loved the inspirals much more lovely guys i chatted to craig gill bless him at a hmv record store signing event in leeds.
Still one of their best tracks. Great voice and bass. saw the Inspirals a few years ago and they were brilliant. Saw Tom hingley & the lovers a few months ago. The songs from their new cd sound fantastic, can't wait for that to come out.
Saw them the night before in Norwich....just one of them perfect gigs, dragged a mate a long who'd never heard much of them, he still cant get over how good it was, F***ing Awesome, best gig since The Specials in 1980!
I pray for a 'Carpets' SatNav - "Turn left now-ow-ow-ow *organ music* you missed your tur-ur-ur-ning" I would sit in my car.all.day. just at a roundabout! Think about it, but not too much, hey ;-)
Anyone remember the mix with the exerts being readfrom Black Beauty? If anyone does remember perhaps they could let me know exactly what that version is called. I had it on one of those cassette singles but lost it years ago.
I expect to be shot down in flames for this but if you look at the promo clip for 'glittering prize' by Simple Minds, some of the themes of imagery employed are strikingly similar to this video. I remember going to see the Inspirals at Glasgow Barrowland around the time this was out ans while they had scaled back the stage show a wee bit, the set up was still cool as f**k with lots of UV lights and such. top band.
They're currently running FEBREEZE ads before they let us see the video;I wonder,if we placed a dead and rotting corpse that had been sitting out in the desert sun for a WEEK in the back of a car, then placed a FEBREEZE air-freshener clip in it,then let in two unsuspecting people, would the FEBREEZE air freshener clip still make the inside of the car smell like laundry that had just been washed?
Fine Tune! Fine Band & A Fine Video!.......Make's Me Prowd to Be a Manc.......Even if Thay are my Mate's!......Lol - DJ(UNITE)MC - MADChester - England.....1988 / 1992 The Best.

God bless the inspiral carpets.
The intro 'humming' between 11 & 18 seconds reminds me of the drop down in 'Under Pressure'
One of my all time favourite songs. Came on my iPod this morning and just reminds me of growing up in the 90's! Absolute classic !!!
We were Blessed to have actually lived it out for real...A Magical Rarerity 🍀
Stone roses, the charlatans, 808 state, inspiral carpets, soup dragon, emf,.....all the great bands from the late 80s and early 90s. :)

Definitely one of the highlights of the 90´s Manchester scene, perhaps the best of the bunch. This song is a good example of their art

MTV - 120 Minutes 🖤
if only the Roses had A) Tunes as good as this and B) Tom's voice. They really would have been as good as they think they were.

This would have been a great song for Alison Moyet to cover, back in the day!

ask mute
Maybe you’re referring to the horse mix? It’s on the Inspiral Carpets channel

Fucking great band saw them in my hometown of Glasgow in 1991 great memories.
Hello future me, are you still listening to this song?
I expect to be shot down in flames for this but if you look at the promo clip for 'glittering prize' by Simple Minds, some of the themes of imagery employed are strikingly similar to this video.

As a french, I want to thank you Brits for the outstanding bands you steadily gave us. French music, if that still exists, is a disgrace.
as a venezuelan, i only can join to your words. long live the britsh musicians...
When everything was still in happier times..
This sounds just like Northern up Roar .
how can 8 idiots not like this!
They're currently running FEBREEZE ads before they let us see the video;I wonder,if we placed a dead and rotting corpse that had been sitting out in the desert sun for a WEEK in the back of a car, then placed a FEBREEZE air-freshener clip in it,then let in two unsuspecting people, would the FEBREEZE air freshener clip still make the inside of the car smell like laundry that had just been washed?
strangely Tom Hingley looks like some projected ghost of Liam Gallagher...
fuckin class track mind
Cool as Fuck !!!!
BITCHES BREW, HOW D'YOU KNOW I WON'T PRAY FOR YOU ?

8 people were bareed from dry 201.

COOL AS F@@K
lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee thisssssssssssssssssssssssssssss !
Tom Hingley:- what a singer; Clint shouldn’t have chopped him over essentially an out burst. Stephen Holt is a joke. No offence.
Did they name the song after a Miles Davis album?
His voice quite resembles Roland Orzabal's
