3rd September 2024. Sitting with my little boy watching this. It’s one of our favourite videos and songs. We get so much from this. I love watching the Inspirals with him. I hope that one day he will see this comment as he plays this video. Love ya Joshy x ❤
I am from Moscow, and d like to say that I grew up listening to the inspiring, great British rock music of the 20th century( mainly progressive and psychodelic rock) . Without it my life would so poor. Some of the most significant days in my life were when i visited Roger Waters’s and Deep Purple concerts , when they were here in Moscow. This music can equally praise up to the sky and destruct us and that’s why it has always been so breathtaking.
Thank you Great Britain for your culture, for your style, for your music and for dreamy, talented boys from your industrial cities , who had been creating some of the most beautiful non material heritage of our world
Priviet Music is the great uniter. Who needs dull people trying to turn our minds against each other. respect
Zdravstvuyte, Ive seen Roger Waters a few times and although I like Pink Floyd,Waters solo material is without question the work of a musical genius, Amused to Death, Radio Chaos,
Pro's and Con's of Hitchhiking, truly amazing works not only musically but also lyrically, nobody comes close to him as a writer, you have excellent taste my Russian friend,
Proshchay, Cockenerob,
This has been my ringtone for years. I don't receive many calls because I'm a right Billy Nomates; but when I do, man, it makes my day!
The more people in your life the more of other peoples shit you have to deal with ...enjoy the space lol
The drumming makes this track sooo good. RIP Craig Gill
Yes, was going to say - the guy having so much fun on the drums at 0:11 , would eventually take his own life from the tinnitus caused by not wearing hearing protection at this time and the years ahead with the band - a lot of it simply from likely beating the hell out of his drums itself (as a guy who plays multiple instruments, the drums are _loud_ ). Lesson to people who don't want their own: avoid or _wear hearing protection_ if you know you'll be exposed to loud sounds. I myself have some earplugs that maintain the full audio spectrum from low to high, damn near perfectly, while reducing the volume of things 20 to 30 dB. It's amazing and they were like $18! They're listed under:
Etymotic Research ER20XS High-Fidelity Earplugs (Concerts, Musicians, Airplanes, Motorcycles, Sensitivity and Universal Hearing Protection)
On Amazon (which is where I got them from). Good luck everyone.
Inspiral Carpet, Pulp, Stone Rosses.. You're The BEST !!!
The Charlatans: we do the best keyboards in Madchester.
Inspiral Carpets: hold my MDMA.
Darth KEK Agreed. Always loved the Inspirals for their keyboard sound. I used to buy their CDs from a little record shop in the Arndale Centre, Manchester. They used to have a load of Factory stuff as well. They had the flick books from the Blue Monday video. They let me hold it, but not buy it. Shame, would have loved one of them!
Holy sh*t!!! I finally found it. I have this melody humming in my head almost 30 years, but because of my bad english (I'm a spanish native speaker), couldn't understand the lyrics. Man, I'm happy!!
Clint Boon is an absolute alchemist on the keyboards.
Simply the greatest song ever written.
1994 i was a heavy metal fan and saw this cassette tape on a shop bought it thought it was heavy metal because of the cover. since then started listening to alternative music till now
music's music. I wouldn't worry about classifying it and it's still ok to like metal if you want to.
interplanetary gelatin its funny you say this...i was into punk/hardcore and heard the first album, "Life", when it came out in 1990.....properly changed my life....and opened up the world of Madchester to me :)
@Spacey Tracey i was there too ...but in spirit.....whilst it was kicking off in Manchester we were getting the effects of it over here in Belfast
most underrated band of that era quality band
Think they had the most hits though ., I'm 63 and loved them in the 90s 👍
Alfie mares I totallious agree with you. But they dumped this singer to be replaced with the original singer before their fame a very bit naughty i say.
R.I.P Craig Gilly great drummer you will be missed
At 3:23, I've driven by that part of the Houston Metropolitan a million times where all of the oil refineries are located on my way to Galveston to go fishing with my brother. That part of the Houston suburb is called Texas City and it is located between Houston and Galveston just off the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and it is one of the best places in the country to go fishing and crabbing! That scene brings back a lot of memories of my time living in Houston.
Its a funny thing, I hadn't seen this video in years, and watching it again was struck by the amount of Houston / Texas City in it. My wife is from the area (she grew up in the Woodlands) but I grew up half a continent away in suburban Toronto (Newmarket to be exact). All of this makes me think of exactly what you are describing- going to see her parents up in Conroe where they live now and driving down to Galveston for a couple days on the beach
First saw the #InspiralCarpets at #EdinburghQueensHall on 3-NOV-1992, the day before starting my 1st ever job as Life Assurance Clerk for #LAS in Edinburgh. Aged 17 I was blown away by the energy and melodies of the ' inspirals ' and their dedicated hard-core fans. What a gig. Especially ' Joe '
Then saw them at #SheffieldLeadmilll in April 1993 - Sheffield was Radio One's #SoundCity and all the gigs were live on BBC radio.- supported by #Lemonheads and the fabulous #MollyHalfhead - me and my late friend #Wilx drove down to Sheffield from Edinburgh aged 18 in my #FordEscort - oh man, those were the days....picked up a Dutch ktchkhiker on way back to Haddington. Smoked some hash. Great gig and event.
And #Saturn5 and #DevilHppping both great but Saturn5 is a choooon. Saw them 11 times in total #CoolAsFuck #Madchester #indie and i loved #thecharlatansand #thestoneroses too.
It was s great time to be turning 18 #thanksforthememories 🤔🤔🤔😉😁😂🎵🎸👌💯👍✌️☮️☯️
I'm going to university in England now, but back home in California at my job I'd listen to Inspiral Carpets when I unpacked boxes at work. Every time this came on I'd love it, but get mundane flashbacks of opening cardboard boxes. Then I saw them live in Reading last month! Good God it was brilliant! Everyone went mad for this one! It was also a small club gig so we were all three feet from the band.
+Not Totally Unfunny I saw them at Reading in 93? 94? Fuck knows. Great band though.
i lived in california and listened to these all the time , back home in england i saw these and every other manchester band ......summer of love 90
One of the most underrated bands from the whole baggy era.
I keep mishearing the first line as "took a ride on a C64" and imagine someone attempting to mount the popular Commodore home computer. Cracking tune anyway!
Me too my friend, lol, I thought it was the commodore 64 and that it must be slang for some kinda vehicle 😂 Awesome song and lyrics "In the game of Inspirals you win or you win bigger."
What a band so much talent
Class....love it. Great harmonies. Great farfisa sound.
'Hail the men who will walk out in heaven today' .
Lyrics :
Lady take a ride on a Zeke 64, Jerry wants to be a rockette
That's a popular misconception, says we haven't seen anything yet
Laying down the lifeless corpse of President 35
The lady crying by his side is the most beautiful woman alive
Saturn 5, you really were the greatest sight
Stretching out on a summer's day
Houston, it's calling me back to her
Lady take a ride on a Zeke 64, Jerry wants to be a rockette
That's a popular misconception, says we haven't seen anything yet
Laying down the lifeless corpse of President 35
The lady crying by his side is the most beautiful woman alive
Saturn 5, you really were the greatest sight
Stretching out on a summer's day
Houston, it's calling me back to her
An Eagle lands, and a planet full of people raises its hands
All hail the men who will walk up in heaven today
Monochrome TV, all the things you ever represented to me
Take me once more, take me to heaven again
Saturn 5, you really were the greatest sight
Stretching out on a summer's day
Houston, it's calling me back to her
Saturn 5, you really were the greatest sight
Stretching out on a summer's day
Houston, it's calling me back to her
A CLASSIC TUNE, inspirals never went away in my mind.
RIP Gilly, part of history but will be heard forever
One of my favourite songs & bands of all time......👏👏👌
RIP Gilly absolute legend. Did his Manchester tour before going to see the stone roses earlier this year. something I'll never forget!
This song has just one of the best hooks ever!!!!
I can't help but get the feeling that this song helped inspire Noel Gallaghers Holy Mountain in the chorus
He roadied for the carpets
I expect you know this but felt like telling anyway
que espectacular cuando hace unos años me reencontré con esa canción y yo sólo tengo 17 años, pero es la que más me recuerda los noventa!!!!!!
I first heard this track on MTV's Real World London and never knew the name--for something like 14 years! Finally found this track. Cool.
So sad. So fucking tragic and unjust to loose an amazing musician like Craig "Gilly" Gill so young. So talented, such an amazing beat to such an amazing band. Forever Inspirals, forever Gill, Walsh, Lambert, Boon and Hingley.
All hail the men who will walk up in heaven today. That includes you Gilly. Off for a Party in the Sky
22/11/16
Listening to this while building a lego Saturn V.....what more could you ask for
Magnifique.....VERY GOOD MIXES....sicodelick...in keyboard....rockand roll and pop
Well boys, you wouldn't have wanted to experience 23.04.2020, but hey, what could you have known back in 1990 or whenever this video is from...
The quintessential mad-chester indie band; underrated is an understatement; blistering band.
remember how much I loved the Inspirals. Anyone know where to find The Clint Boon Experience - White no Sugar?
Glad we all found ourselves here, of the same mind. Bangin' choons, Gilly, cheers mate!
Such a great tune
R.I.P Craig Gill. You will be missed
God, I've been looking for this song for years. Heard it at a nightclub once, and on the telly years later, but never caught the name of the band or the song. I think my life is complete now.
saw them live in Prague, it was awesome!
my best song!!!! From Chile
obscenely good! the 90s was fuckin awesome, the best decade in the 20th century for music and British culture by far……. never mind the 60s!
listened to an interview with boon once. they asked him if he regretted not taking noel on. he said "no,it wasn't that noel wasn't talented he just didn't fit the carpets.if we'd have took noel on the inspirals might not have made it and also oasis wouldn't exist,so no, don't regret it"...,,.,.,.,,,spot on boon, legend.
Wow, just brilliant!
I haven't heard this song for years!
So sad... So young.... RIP Craig
Met them couple a days ago, top lads and top tunes!
get Saturn 5 to #1 this Christmas! in honour of Gilly!
much love from The Indie Masterplan x
You can't imagine how happy this song makes me.
Or maybe you can....and that's why we're smiling.
This has become an anthem on the Scooter rallies!! very underrated band, and im off to see them in Norwich tonight, Wahey!!
My great song!!!! Awesome
From Chile!!!
This is a top tune, make no bones about it.
Sheer, stone-cold, 90s genius. What a song!!!
Crikey this brings me back. *sigh* I miss the 90's
RIP Gilly. Thoughts are with your family and bandmates. Only wish I could say or do more.
Catchy little ditty...always makes me smile...
How the fuck can this have SO few views? This is CLASS man! If you're not moving some part of yourself to this, panic. You're dead...
Manchester’s calling me back to her.
Christ, an advert telling me that In Utero is 20 years old. How to make a young man in the head feel old in the body.
Saw the carpets live a few weeks ago when they were touring with the Happy Mondays, still as good as ever! Clint Boon is amazing on the keyboard
One of the most underachieving songs ever. Should have easily made top spot.
Brilliant song. Love them
One of the best alternative rock songs from 1995
RIP Craig Gill
Great song
Hope this makes Christmas number 1 for Craig RIP
I remember watching this as a kid growing up, I want to say in Blue Peter of all things but I could be wrong. I always wanted to go to nasa after that. Finally got there this year in September and there was only one song that could be played on the driveway down to the entrance of nasa. Epic. Childhood dream accomplished
I love that. My 5 y/o he is obsessed with space travel. He loves this song as much as I do. And it’s on the playlist for when I eventually get to take him from the UK to the Kennedy SC.
@@StuartMcKenzie-me9wc it's an amazing place and you won't be disappointed when you go. Walking under the Saturn 5 rocket is mind-blowing
Norwich Waterfront last year, best gig ive been to for years!! Keep the faith! embrace Inspiraldom, Boon is with you! Mooooooooooooo

Another great song! Love it!
Such a good track!!!!!!!!

Get this to number one for Christmas. Go, go, go from 16th December. Make 2016 just a little less shite
Last week, I walked into an obscure record shop in Bowness, had this song playing on the iPod as I walked in. Then what did I see almost immediately? A fucking Inspiral Carpets Greatest Hits signed...
"Stay cool forever! C Boon" complete with a drawing of a cow smoking a joint. One of life's most freakish, and awesome coincidences! Needless to say I bought the fucker.
Had the "cool as fuck " T shirt in my younger years. My mom would wash it but would never hang it on the line in case the neighbours saw it😅😅😅😅😅..Glorious days,Glorious music.
Take me once more, take me to heaven again. RIP Gilly ❤️
Tom Hingley signed my scooter at a scooter rally, genuine and down to earth bloke too.
I'm here cos I had a mint day. And this was the first tune I heard. It set me right up. Gareth, neer do Weller, Bolton x
50 years ago this evening I sat with my mum n dad for 24 hours watching the moon landing and walk. I was 3 and a half and still remember it clearly like it was yesterday.
I used to listen to this song in the summer of 1994. Good times.
Fantastic tune, inspirals were Madchester, and they inspired Britpop. Mooooooooooo!
great live band! thanks for the upload.

R.I.P (GILLY) CRAIG GILL ANOTHER GREAT MUSICAL TALENT GONE BUT NEVER TO BE FORGOT IN
a nostalgic jaunt through the heyday of space exploration, courtesy of oldham's bowl-cut wearing baggies.
Our band supported Tom last night. Nice chap
This as been my dads ringtone for a while, its been one of my favourite songs because the intro to it, it's just so iconic, well that's what I think, thank you Inspiral carpets for making this masterpiece
Proper tune
Such a Booney Tune. The first CBX album is full of this amazeballs space stuff. Love it.
R.I.P. Craig, Inspirational.
I saw Tom Hingley sing this live in Newcastle earlier this year 👍.
The intro has been my uncles ringtone since I can remember. He sadly passed away last week and this is going to be played at his funeral. Thank you inspiral carpets for creating something that I can forever remember him by.
Sorry to hear about your uncle. At least you can use the power of music to make his soul live forever.
Beautiful ❤
robotmonkey his funeral was yesterday, the smiles on everyone’s faces when they heard it just makes it somewhat better. so blessed to have grown up in a home where music is being banged out at every given opportunity. music really is wonderful
Sorry about your uncle, but fair play to him, quality choice...
Sorry for your loss he appreciated good music rip
